Chemical composition
The composition of the golden mustache includes organic active substances. They have a beneficial effect on the body and provide therapeutic effectiveness. Knowing the composition of the plant will help you better understand its properties and use it correctly. Through chemical analysis, scientists identified the following substances in the leaves and other parts of the golden mustache:
- kaempferol;
- quercetin;
- catechins;
- phytosterols;
- tannins;
- vitamins A, C, B2, B5, B3;
- antioxidants;
- carotenoids;
- minerals.
In each part of the plant, the active components are present in different concentrations. Therefore, the methods for manufacturing drugs and products differ. Thanks to the presence of antioxidants, the plant is able to cope with pronounced tumor processes even during the period of their intensive growth. Toxic plant components can block the growth of tumors, even malignant ones. They act like chemotherapy, destroying diseased cells, but at the same time stimulating the restoration and regeneration of healthy tissue.
Contraindications
Golden mustache has contraindications for use, which must be taken into account before starting a course of treatment. The main ones will be the following:
- period of bearing a child;
- breastfeeding the baby;
- age up to 14 years;
- tendency to allergic manifestations;
- intolerance to the plant and products based on it;
- acute period in bronchial asthma;
- exacerbation of diseases of the liver, stomach, intestines, pancreas, heart.
Before starting treatment, you must consult with a specialist and obtain his permission.
What it looks like and where it grows
Goldenwhisker is present in the wild, but is often grown as an ornamental houseplant. It is adapted to the tropical climate, therefore it is not grown in open ground in the Russian Federation. But it can be successfully grown in a winter garden, greenhouse, and flowerpots on a windowsill. It is almost impossible to confuse golden mustache with other types of plants, because it has very clear differences.
- The plant has two types of shoots - some are branched, and others are erect, dense.
- The golden mustache can stretch up to 2 m in height, but only with good care and timely application of fertilizers.
- The leaves are linear, long, and can reach 20–25 cm in length.
- Small shoots periodically appear from the nodes of the trunk. They serve to propagate the plant.
South America is considered the birthplace of the golden mustache, but they have also tried to grow it on other continents more than once. Thanks to these attempts, this plant exists in different countries around the world today, but it is still nowhere as widespread as in South America.
Kinds
There are 12 most common types of callisia, but not all of them have pronounced therapeutic properties. The most popular and effective in folk medicine is the fragrant callisia, that is, the golden mustache. It is this plant that contains in its leaves all the power of nature, a huge potential that helps to cope with various diseases. Here are a few more common species that are also grown as ornamental plants:
- elegant;
- scaphoid;
- creeping (in second place after the golden mustache in terms of concentration of active substances);
- rose-shaped.
Outwardly they differ, although they represent the same genus. True, they have only decorative value. To use a plant in medicinal practices as a medicine, you need to give preference to the only useful representative of the genus - the golden mustache.
Collection and storage
To prepare a medicinal plant for future use, you need to prepare a well-ventilated room for these purposes (an attic will do). Next, you need to collect the leaves, carefully cutting them from the stem and chopping them with scissors. After this, spread the prepared raw materials for complete drying. Herbalists do not recommend drying leaves in electric and infrared dryers, as this results in the loss of some of the properties.
In order for the plant to fully retain its healing properties, it must be stored correctly - closed in a glass jar and kept in a cabinet in the kitchen or in another room where there is no dampness.
You can also prepare plant juice, but for this you need to prepare sterile glass bottles. The juice must not be boiled! This will certainly lose all its benefits and will be unsuitable for medicinal purposes. You need to pasteurize it - bring it to a temperature of 70 degrees, and then pour it into sterile bottles and seal them. The shelf life of this medicine is up to 3 months. But it is advisable to keep it in the basement or in the refrigerator.
Skin diseases and home cosmetology
Homemade ginseng is used to make excellent natural cosmetics for hair and skin care.
- To cleanse the skin, infusions and decoctions from the plant's mustache are used.
- Alcohol tincture is used:
- To exfoliate and cleanse dead skin cells and rejuvenate it;
- Acne and purulent rashes in adolescence, caused by staphylococcus.
- Oil based on golden mustache juice helps cope with dry skin and is also used for massage.
- After washing your hair, the hair is washed with infusion of fragrant callisia to give the hair shine and softness.
- Freshly squeezed juice is used for pedicures, as well as for calluses and corns.
Review: Malchuzhenko A.G., Shebekino, Belgorod region.
Lotion for face and body. Take a small jar and fill half tightly with finely chopped stem and leaves of the golden mustache, fill the rest with apple cider vinegar (7-9%). Let it steep in the dark for 7-10 days, then squeeze well and strain, add clean water in a ratio of 1:4 (1 part tincture and 4 parts water).
Use to wipe face and body. To make the skin soft and silky, instead of a scrub, she uses coffee grounds.
Recommendations from traditional healers
While reading traditional healers, I read an interesting thing! It is recommended that before treatment of any disease, including the spine, joints, and also arthrosis (hips), rheumatism, polyarthritis, for the effectiveness of treatment, to put in order the entire excretory and purification system of the body - liver, kidneys, large intestine, skin (sweat glands ).
But this is the right advice! And this applies not only to the Golden Mustache, but to any method of treatment. First you need to clean everything, and then treat it.
The healing properties of the golden mustache
This plant has general medicinal properties that have universal application. Golden mustache is rich in active ingredients and produces the following therapeutic effects:

- normalizes the functioning of the cardiovascular system;
- balances hormonal levels;
- protects liver cells, restores them;
- has the ability to stimulate the secretion and outflow of bile;
- promotes the rapid occurrence of metabolic processes;
- normalizes the production of digestive enzymes, improves digestion;

- restores the functioning of the reproductive system;
- has a pronounced diuretic effect;
- stimulates hematopoietic processes, strengthens the walls of blood vessels and relieves them of excess cholesterol;
- eliminates sluggish inflammatory processes of any localization;

In order to more effectively use a plant for medicinal purposes, it is important to consider how its composition affects the body, taking into account gender, age, as well as biological and physiological state. The healing potential of this flower can be used differently for each person.
For women
Women often experience hormonal imbalances due to stress or the adverse influence of environmental factors. With the help of a golden mustache you can achieve the following results:
- stabilize the menstrual cycle;
- align hormonal levels;
- eliminate pain during menstruation;
- improve your well-being during menopause.
This plant is also used as an antitumor agent for cancer diseases. The use of products based on golden mustache leaves is especially effective for hormone-dependent tumors and breast cancer.
For men
After the age of 40, the male body begins to undergo restructuring, as a result of which cases of prostate adenoma or inflammation of the prostate gland become more frequent. Sexual dysfunction and erectile dysfunction may also occur. Using a golden mustache for preventive purposes will help prevent early impotence, adenoma and even prostate cancer. Also for men, this plant is useful in the treatment and prevention of infectious diseases of the genitourinary system.
During pregnancy
The internal use of products that were created on the basis of the golden mustache is strictly prohibited. The components of this plant penetrate the placental barrier and can have a toxic effect on the fetus. Since golden mustache leaves contain plant hormones, use of even small quantities can lead to a risk of miscarriage.
If the golden mustache is used externally, you need to monitor your condition and skin reaction. There should be no redness or itching. Otherwise, it is better to cancel the appointment. Allergic reactions during pregnancy are extremely dangerous for the health and life of the fetus and can lead to serious developmental defects. Doctors also do not recommend using golden mustache during breastfeeding, even for external use. But if necessary, it can be used, but only for the period of treatment you need to stop breastfeeding.

For children
Children's age is a contraindication to taking herbal infusions and decoctions. If necessary, you can use ointments and creams from the age of 6, but only externally. You cannot make a decision about using the product on your own. You need to consult a pediatrician, or better yet, a dermatologist. It is necessary to take into account the risks: the golden mustache can only worsen the condition, because it is a potential allergen. If the child's body is sensitive to the components of the plant, hives or another type of allergic reaction may develop.
When losing weight
If you need to speed up your metabolism and activate fat processing, the golden mustache will help you do this. It contains all the substances necessary for active metabolism. Its advantage is the absence of side effects. When losing weight, the plant produces the following effect:
- normalizes metabolism;
- eliminates swelling;
- cleanses the intestines;
- stabilizes appetite;
- accelerates skin recovery after weight loss.
Golden mustache gives a pronounced laxative effect, while reducing appetite. It has diuretic properties, so those losing weight with the help of this plant need to drink as much fluid as possible, at least 2 liters per day.
Metabolic diseases. Obesity.
These diseases include obesity. Following a diet will help correct the situation. In this case, the golden mustache plays a restorative and normalizing role.
A decoction (for the recipe, see treatment of diabetes mellitus) and an alcoholic tincture on the mustache will cope well with such disorders.
Alcohol tincture recipe.
To prepare the tincture, take 3-4 horizontal shoots of 12 links each, add 600 mg of medical alcohol, and leave for 24 hours. Then 900 mg of pure water is added and infused in the dark for a week.
To maintain normal body health, you need to take 1 dessert spoon of the tincture once every two days.
Recommendation. Do not drink or eat anything for 40 minutes.
Diabetes mellitus, when treating it, the tincture is taken 3 times a day.
In the first days of taking such a strong tincture, since it is biologically active, the general condition of the body may worsen. Don’t be alarmed, after a couple of days you will have more strength.
Traditional medicine recipe. For weight loss
Herb Jaundice gray along with flowers, consumed in small quantities of 0.1-0.3 grams three times a day, dry or fresh, for a month, will reduce weight by 2-3 kg.
At the same time, you will also receive additional benefits in the form of improving the elasticity of blood vessels, strengthening the tissue of the heart muscle, and normalizing the heart rhythm.
The use of bitter herbs has a good effect on a woman’s body. Teas with yarrow are especially useful for women, both in everyday life and after childbirth, helping themselves to reduce the likelihood of obesity.
Golden mustache in folk medicine
Taking medications and external use of creams and ointments promotes rapid recovery from various diseases. Golden mustache has a wide spectrum of action, but for each diagnosis the scheme of use, dosage form, and treatment time are different.
For diabetes
Impaired cell sensitivity to insulin is one of the features of patients with diabetes mellitus. The stimulating properties of golden mustache partially restore the ability of cells to respond to insulin. Golden mustache lowers blood sugar levels and prevents the development of complications in type I and II diabetes.
Instructions for use:
- brew tea from ½ teaspoon and 200 ml of water;
- divide by 2 times;
- drink cooled 15 minutes after eating.
Diabetics are allowed to take the medication for a long time, but every 2-3 months they need to pause and stop treatment for 10-14 days. During use, you need to monitor your blood sugar levels, and also remember to take medications from the main course prescribed by your doctor.
For pancreatitis
The golden mustache can be used for pancreatitis only in the remission stage. If you use the drug in the acute period, there is a high risk of developing necrosis - an irreversible process as a result of which some of the pancreatic cells die. To treat the pancreas, water-based products are used, since drinking alcohol with such a diagnosis can end tragically. Treatment regimen for chronic pancreatitis:
- frequency - three times a day;
- duration – 3 weeks;
- volume of decoction – 50 ml.
It is necessary to combine taking liquid medication with eating food. The active substances that make up it irritate the glands responsible for the production of enzymes. If you do not eat the decoction, taking it can lead to an exacerbation due to hyperfunction of the pancreas.
For gastritis
Gastritis with low acidity can be treated with golden mustache, but if we are talking about the hyperacid form, the plant can cause harm, as it additionally stimulates the production of stomach acid. The following medication options are used:
- warm infusion (100 ml before meals);
- tea from the plant (150 ml morning and evening).
For severe pain, you can drink 10 drops of the tincture, be sure to dilute it with a small amount of water so that the alcohol does not irritate the inflamed gastric mucosa.
For the intestines
For intestinal diseases, you need to take the juice of the plant, oil made from the leaves, and an infusion. For irritable bowel syndrome, the use of enemas with a weak infusion is indicated. The same method is used for constipation and age-related problems with intestinal motility. Peptic ulcer of the intestinal mucosa is treated with alcohol tincture. It is used after meals 2 times a day. You need to be treated for at least 3 weeks.
For gout
Treatment of gout is one of the most popular areas of application of the golden mustache. The problematic nature of therapy for this disease lies in the fact that for complete recovery it is necessary for the body to become fully involved, all processes to be activated in order to restore metabolic balance. This is exactly what the golden mustache does - it is a powerful catalyst for biochemical reactions, and also stimulates biological processes occurring in cells and tissues, due to which recovery occurs quickly.
For gout, the golden mustache is used in a variety of ways:
- kvass - with kombucha and fresh golden mustache leaves;
- tea - you need to drink it in courses of 2 every 2 months;
- alcohol tincture with increasing dosage - from 1 drop to 20 and back.
Gout is difficult to treat with just one golden mustache, so you need to, in addition to this, use lemon water, consume enough liquid every day. You can also combine treatment with the tincture with a decoction of rose hips. You can directly dissolve the alcohol tincture in it - this will increase the effectiveness of the two products significantly.
For colitis
This plant can be consumed as tea, brewed according to the classic recipe described below.
For the liver
Golden mustache has the ability to restore damaged liver cells, and also restores their ability to fully function and cope with toxins. The herbal remedy is used for viral hepatitis, fatty liver disease, as well as minor dysfunctions of this organ. To restore the liver, the following treatment regimens are used:
- three times, 1 teaspoon of fresh juice diluted with water in half;
- take the infusion twice, 50 ml at a time.
For hemorrhoids
When hemorrhoids become inflamed, they should be lubricated with oil. To treat chronic hemorrhoids, warm baths with a decoction of golden mustache are used. They normalize blood circulation, prevent inflammatory processes, and restore the walls of blood vessels. You can prepare your own candles based on fresh golden mustache leaves - squeeze the juice from them, soak cotton swabs in it and use rectally for 15-20 minutes. This remedy relieves pain and itching, and when used daily, reduces the size of hemorrhoids without surgery.
For cholecystitis
Congestion in the gallbladder is allowed to be treated with a golden mustache only if there is no severe gallstone disease. If there are small stones that have not yet begun to calcify (harden), you can take golden mustache products according to the following instructions:
- squeeze the juice from the leaves (a teaspoon) into a glass;
- pour boiled cold water into a glass to the top;
- drink 10 minutes before meals.
Repeat at least 3 times a day, or more often, before each meal. But in this case, you need to reduce the dose - instead of 1 spoon, take half.
Against cough
For a chronic, lingering cough, taking 5 ml of oil prepared from golden mustache leaves on an empty stomach will help. You need to take the medicine only once a day for 14 days. You can brew golden mustache with milk, but then dry leaves are used for this. Pour 1 teaspoon of leaves into a liter of milk and boil for 1 minute, then strain and drink the resulting volume within 2 days. The duration of such treatment with milk decoction is 5 days.
For a cold
You can use the golden mustache for colds when the body temperature is not higher than 37.5 degrees. The fact is that this plant is a powerful stimulant of the immune system and at higher body temperatures can lead to fever. The fresh leaves of the plant contain a record dose of ascorbic acid, as well as flavonoids responsible for stimulating the immune system and antiviral activity. The juice also contains disinfectant, antiseptic and anti-inflammatory components.
How to use the plant for colds:
- Drink tea from dry leaves with lemon and honey 3 times a day.
- Drink tea from golden mustache and linden blossom with the addition of honey - for fever and body aches.
- Place juice diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10 into the nose 2-3 times a day.
- Gargle 5-6 times a day with warm infusion with the addition of a small amount of table salt.
ARI of a bacterial or viral nature responds equally well to treatment using products based on golden mustache. The main thing is to adhere to the recommendations for use and do not forget about the normal drinking regime, otherwise the recovery process may be delayed.
For fibroids
Myoma needs to be treated for a long time, alternating the main course of medications and herbal therapy. In between taking tablets, you can use golden mustache in the form of an alcohol tincture. It should be taken 2 times a day, approximately 20–30 minutes after meals. If you are intolerant to alcohol, you can replace it with a water decoction and drink 50 ml with the same frequency.
For polyps
The plant helps to resolve polyps, removes swelling and restores breathing. It is necessary to combine instillation of juice (3 drops each) with oral administration (½ teaspoon each). Repeat both three times a day, but after that it is advisable not to go outside and avoid sudden changes in temperature.
For mastopathy
Mastopathy can be treated with this plant, but only if there is no high fever. There are very positive reviews about the treatment of mastopathy with a golden mustache. This plant is used in different countries of the world as an adjuvant. To restore, you need to do compresses every day for 20 minutes. You can use juice from the leaves or a warm decoction as a basis.
For prostatitis
Prostatitis needs to be treated for at least a month. Even if noticeable improvements appeared in the first week of taking it, it is too early to rejoice; you need to complete the full course to the end. There are three treatment regimens for prostatitis:
- Take 5 ml of fresh plant juice every morning for a month.
- Drink a tablespoon of decoction for 60 days.
- Drink the alcohol tincture, first 1 drop, and every day increase the dose by 1 drop, reaching 10, counting in reverse order.
Alcohol tincture is suitable not only for the treatment of prostatitis, but also for prevention. But you need to take it regularly for 30 days, 3 drops every morning. Golden mustache restores the health of the reproductive organs in men, and also prevents the development of sexual impotence.
For sinusitis
Sinusitis may not respond to treatment with antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs. But this is no reason to despair, because with the help of a golden mustache you can significantly reduce the intensity of pain, block pathological processes and restore mucosal tissue. Treatment is carried out with pure, fresh juice, diluted in half with water. You need to drip this solution into your nose every 3-4 hours, 1 drop.
Complex, chronic forms are treated in the same way, but one more procedure is added. Every evening, before going to bed, you need to place small rolls of cotton wool soaked in golden mustache oil into your nostrils for 20–30 minutes. After this, you can rinse your nose with a saline solution, because the remaining oil provides an ideal environment for the spread of bacteria. The oil does not need to be heated - it should be at room temperature.
For joints
Arthritis, arthrosis, inflammation and joint injuries are diseases that the golden mustache will help you cope with. There are three therapeutic techniques that can be used to restore joint mobility, relieve pain and inflammation.
- Rubbing with alcohol tincture is an effective method for relieving inflammation and eliminating pain. Often propolis is also added to the golden mustache tincture - this ingredient enhances the effect.
- Compresses from a warm decoction of golden mustache. You need to apply a cloth soaked in liquid to the sore spot for 10-15 minutes, and the pain will go away.
- Rubbing with fresh plant juice is also useful; you can add vinegar to it. If you mix, then only in equal proportions.
For oncology
Treatment of cancer is long and quite problematic, since everything depends on the individual capabilities of the body and immunity. Professional herbalists and homeopaths do not recommend abandoning basic therapy in favor of herbal treatment. On the contrary, they argue that the use of herbal supplements can enhance the effect of the main therapeutic line.
For oncological diseases, the use of a golden mustache is indicated to achieve the following goals:
- blocking tumor growth;
- stopping tissue degeneration;
- protecting cells from damage;
- restoration of the functioning of the body;
- improving well-being and eliminating weakness.
You need to gradually increase the dose. For oncology, it is recommended to drink a water infusion of golden mustache, starting with one tablespoon per day. After a week - already 1 spoon 2 times a day, after another 7 days three times a day. Then you need to stop increasing the frequency of administration, but increase the quantity. The scheme is the same - for the first week, 2 tablespoons 3 times a day, then 3, and so on for up to 3 months. After this, you need to take the golden mustache products, but reduce the dosage in the reverse order.
For varicose veins
Varicose veins are treated with fresh juice or fatty ointment. You can combine these two remedies, since the way they are used is different. Products based on golden mustache with additives are also used. Recipe:
- 50 ml of juice from fresh leaves of the plant;
- 1 teaspoon cabbage juice;
- 1 crushed clove of garlic.
Everything needs to be mixed thoroughly, and then applied to clean gauze and applied to the affected areas for 2 hours. Repeat the procedure every day. If you can’t constantly make compresses, you can simply rub the resulting mixture into problem areas.
In its pure form, an ointment prepared in pork fat or olive oil is used. To do this, you need to take dried leaves, 2 tablespoons per 100 ml of fat, and boil the raw material in it for 2 hours. Decant the resulting product and discard the remaining plant material.
For psoriasis
Psoriasis is a rather painful and unpleasant autoimmune disease, against which traditional medicine, unfortunately, is powerless. But traditional methods work, although not as quickly as we would like, but you can get results. Here are the dosage forms used to treat psoriasis:
- decoction – for taking baths 2 times a week;
- balm - for wiping affected areas of the skin during an exacerbation;
- oil – for rubbing and softening the skin during the recovery period.
You can easily verify that the oil is safe and really helps. To do this, you need to look at how you feel when applying: if the itching, painful sensations go away, and there is no burning sensation, then the product is suitable. The main thing is not to use it more than 2 times a day.
For glaucoma
Treatment of glaucoma should be carried out under the supervision of an ophthalmologist, because there is a risk of losing vision if you do not see a doctor in time. Golden mustache for this disease is used externally and internally.
- Before going to bed, you need to apply pieces of bandage soaked in the broth or cotton sponges to your eyes. The procedure takes 30 minutes.
- In the morning, instill 3 drops of a sterile infusion of the plant into each eye.
You should take 2 teaspoons of the decoction orally before each meal. If within a month the product does not produce a significant result, you can slightly increase the dosage. After 2 months, take a break.
For burns
You can soften first and second degree burns with oil or balm. For third and fourth degree burns, it is dangerous to use products based on golden mustache, as there is a risk of tissue infection. The balm should be applied to the affected areas of the skin 2 times a day, and the oil – 1 time. Sunburns can be lubricated with fresh plant juice, but before doing this you need to dilute it half and half with cold boiled water.
Diseases of the digestive system. Treatment
All diseases of the digestive system are associated with our desire to eat deliciously, and sometimes eat junk food, this includes fast food, dry food, irregular eating at random.
As a result of such food, diseases arise: gastritis, stomach and duodenal ulcers. All these diseases are accompanied by symptoms of diseases that you definitely need to pay attention to, these are:
- heartburn,
- bowel disorder,
- pain in the stomach and intestines is frequent and sudden,
- belching,
- nausea.
For problems with the digestive system, a decoction of mustache leaves helps well (For the recipe, see treatment of diabetes) combined with other methods and herbs.
Other folk treatment recipes have worked well:

Take 3 times a day for 60 minutes. before meals, 30 minutes later. drink 100 gr. decoction of Usa Zolotoy.

It is forbidden! Drink alcohol during therapy.
After 30 minutes, drink a decoction of the Golden Mustache 100 g 3 times a day (decoction see diabetes mellitus)
Types of healing compounds
Ready-made products that are sold in pharmacies or herbal stores contain a lower concentration of active substances than homemade medicine. But there are different recipes, so you need to choose the one that suits the specific type of disease. For example, for liver diseases, taking alcohol tincture is not recommended. For stomach diseases, taking an infusion is not effective; you need a more concentrated remedy - a decoction or alcohol tincture. For external use, you can use not only liquid products, but also creams and ointments prepared on the basis of a medicinal plant with your own hands.
Infusion
To prepare the infusion, take 500 ml of water and a large fresh leaf. Boil water, cut the leaf and put it in a thermos. After this, pour boiling water into the thermos, close the lid and leave for 12 hours. The finished infusion can be used immediately. To keep it fresh, you need to keep it in the refrigerator.
Tincture
The alcohol tincture is especially popular among herbalists. Thanks to 70% alcohol, it is possible to make a full-fledged extract. It is necessary to infuse the hard stems of the plant in alcohol, after cutting them into small pieces. According to the requirements of the classic recipe, for 250 ml of alcohol you need to take 2 tablespoons of chopped stem. Leave for at least 2 weeks, but no longer than 1 month.
Decoction
A decoction is prepared in order to extract the maximum amount of nutrients and medicinal components from the plant. To prepare the decoction, you need to choose a suitable container - a stainless steel ladle, a fireproof glass bowl, or a regular enameled pan will do. You cannot prepare the broth in a cast iron pot or in an aluminum container, it will turn out toxic. The decoction is prepared from 1 liter of water and 2-3 large leaves.
Tea
You can use golden mustache tea for colds. It's very easy to prepare. You need to dry the leaves in advance and steam them like regular black tea. Pour boiling water over a teapot or ceramic cup, place a pinch of herbs on the bottom, then pour boiling water over it and leave for a couple of minutes.
Balm
To prevent the balm from spoiling, you need to prepare it in small quantities. The balm must be applied to cleansed skin to treat acne, calluses, papillomas and warts. It softens and nourishes problematic facial skin well. The recipe is simple - you need to take 30 ml of alcohol tincture, add 40 ml of vegetable oil, preferably olive oil. Let the mixture sit for 2-3 weeks, shaking occasionally. After this, store on the bottom shelf in the refrigerator and use as directed.
Ointment
To use golden mustache externally, you need to prepare an ointment, as it is most effective in treating skin and joint diseases, as well as varicose veins. For the ointment, you can take any of these bases:
- rendered pork fat;
- sunflower oil;
- olive oil.
If you have dried golden mustache leaves, you can use them - 2 tablespoons per 100 ml of base. If there is no dry raw material, you can break off 5-6 leaves and use them fresh for cooking. Simmer the mixture of leaves and fatty base in a water bath or in the oven for 3–4 hours. When the mixture has cooled slightly, strain the liquid fat through a tea strainer into a glass jar and cover it with a lid.
Oil
There are two traditional recipes for preparing golden mustache oil. They differ only in the preparation technology, and not in the properties or concentration of active substances.
- Regular juice from the leaves. It should be used for wiping, for example, or as a balm. For the oil you only need the cake. Pour it (in the amount of 1.5 tablespoons) with sunflower oil. Close the container and leave for 3 weeks. Strain and store in a dark place.
- The second preparation option is to simmer dry stems and leaves in oil. An oven, multicooker or induction cooker, capable of maintaining a temperature of 35–40 degrees for a long period of time, is suitable for this. Simmer for 5–6 hours.
The oil has a pronounced herbal aroma, softens the skin well, and helps with diseases of the stomach and intestines. It is used for various types of dermatitis. An important condition for long-term storage is to avoid moisture getting into the container.
Diet
During the course of therapy, experts recommend adhering to a certain nutritional system. This activates the action of the plant.
For maximum effectiveness of herbal remedies, the following should be excluded from the menu:
- Alcohol and carbonated drinks;
- Baked goods and fresh bread, cakes and buns;
- Canned foods;
- Dairy products;
- Potato;
- Salt and sugar.
The menu should be dominated by raw vegetables, apples, all types of cabbage, herbs, olive oil, fish and nuts.
Application in cosmetology
In the beauty industry, the golden mustache is especially popular. Its extraordinary ability to activate cell regeneration is in demand in skin, hair and nail care. The high concentration of biostimulants in the leaves of the plant, the presence of antioxidants and vitamins has the following effect on appearance:
- activates hair follicles and stimulates their growth;
- improves nutrition of the scalp, eliminates dandruff and itching;
- helps cope with acne;
- cleanses pores;
- increases blood circulation in the facial skin, activating deep nutrition and oxygen supply.
If there is no allergic reaction or other contraindications, the golden mustache can be used to restore hair, strengthen and enhance its growth. You can also use the plant as a component of home care cosmetics.
- To treat acne, mix 1 teaspoon of leaf juice with the same volume of aloe vera gel, add 2 drops of tea tree oil and rub over problem areas. Wash off the composition from the skin after 15 minutes.
- To remove clogged pores, steam your face with a decoction and then wipe with a cotton pad soaked in the same liquid. Particularly problematic areas can be rubbed with a disk of broth and soda.
- Rinse your hair daily with the usual infusion or decoction.
- To enhance hair growth, use a balm based on golden mustache with the addition of liquid natural honey (1 teaspoon per 50 ml of balm).
It must be remembered that products with golden mustache should not be in contact with the skin for too long, because irritation and itching may occur, even if the person is not allergic to this plant. Therefore, you need to wash off any products with warm water, preferably without using soap or shampoo.

Let me remind you how to prepare the decoction: One leaf of at least 20 cm in size (for a smaller size, take 2 sheets) is torn into small pieces and pour 0.7 liters of boiling water, boil for 10-15 minutes over low heat, then, after turning off, wrap it well and infuse for 10 -15 hours. Drink warm 40 minutes before meals 3-4 times a day, 50 ml for medium and low weight and 70 ml. with more weight.
The use of such a decoction helps reduce blood sugar to normal and maintains it at this level for a long time. You must remember to take not only the decoction, but also stick to your diet.
What not to eat:
- sweets and flour products;
- strongly sweet berries and fruits (bananas, figs, dates, grapes, raisins);
- eat fatty meat and poultry;
- all pickled and highly salted vegetables;
- cooking fats;
- sweet carbonated drinks.
Often with diabetes, vision deteriorates. To improve vision, we will use the advice of folk recipes.
In the evening, put 2 tbsp in a thermos. spoons of wheatgrass roots, pour 2 cups of boiling water into it, filter in the morning, divide the infusion into 4 times and take 1 hour before meals.
How to prepare the tincture
How to make tincture from golden mustache? Traditional medicine reference books provide various options for tinctures - alcohol-based (vodka or 70% alcohol), water and vegetable oil.
General recommendations for the preparation of raw materials
The young plant acquires healing properties a year after planting, when lateral shoots (whiskers) appear. What should you pay attention to when preparing medicinal raw materials from a flower?
The tincture is prepared from individual parts of the plant: tendrils, leaves, stem. All parts of the flower are used as raw materials at the same time. An infusion of leaves and mustache is used both externally and internally. The medicine prepared from the trunk is used only externally, since the main stem contains too many biologically active substances. To prepare a tincture of mustache, you need to choose shoots that have 9–10 joints (they are also called nodes or knees). A sign of shoot maturation is a rosette at its end from which young leaves grow. A sign of leaf ripeness is its color: for tincture it is better to choose leaves of a purple or brown hue. Before preparing the medicine, the leaves are torn off and stored in the refrigerator in cellophane for 2 weeks to enhance their healing properties. To obtain plant juice, it is recommended to grind the leaves and shoots in a blender.
Tinctures from fragrant callisia can be prepared all year round. But experienced herbalists advise actively using the medicine in the fall, when the maximum amount of healing substances accumulates in the leaves and tendrils - phytosterols, vitamins and microelements, flavonoids, pectins, tannins and others. It is also recommended to renew the plant annually by growing it from young shoots. Such a flower will have an attractive decorative appearance.
Alcohol based
An alcohol tincture based on golden mustache is simple to prepare, but the medicine can only be used after 2 weeks. This folk remedy has a wide spectrum of action; it is not without reason that it is called “the cure for a hundred ailments.” How and why to use it?
Oral administration. Gastritis, pancreatitis, hemorrhoids, dysbiosis, enterocolitis, thrombophlebitis, hypertension, hypotension, angina pectoris, arrhythmia, ischemia, bronchial asthma, pneumonia, bronchitis, chronic tonsillitis, otitis, sinusitis, myxedema, toxic goiter, cervical erosion, ovarian cyst, fibroids , uterine fibroids, neurosis, allergies - this is not a complete list of diseases that are treated with a golden mustache. Application to joints and spine also provides a positive therapeutic effect. The tincture is also drunk for preventive purposes to increase immunity, in cases of deficiency of microelements and vitamins in the body, and decreased visual acuity. Read more about the medicinal properties of the golden mustache and its use in our other article. External use. Lotions, compresses and rubbing from alcohol tincture are made for varicose veins, osteochondrosis, rheumatism, arthritis, bursitis, radiculitis, heel spurs. The tincture is used to treat skin diseases, rub it on bruises and sprains, and apply it to wounds, hematomas, and fractures. Finely chop the side shoots. Place in a glass container. Fill with vodka (1 liter). Keep the infusion in a dark and cool place for 14 days. Store in a cool place, protected from light.
Tincture of golden mustache with vodka during storage can change color from transparent green to purple or brown. But these changes do not in any way affect the quality of the drug.
Water based
The water tincture recipe is recommended for diabetes mellitus and metabolic disorders, colitis, pancreatitis, and stomach ulcers. Its action is softer. The water infusion does not dry out or irritate the skin, so it is recommended to be used as a toner for acne and acne. It can also be used to lubricate rashes with allergies and other skin diseases.
Grind a large or several small flower leaves. Pour the mixture with a liter of boiling water. Leave in a thermos for 24 hours.
The water infusion can also be prepared according to another recipe: pour boiling water over the crushed raw materials, cook for 5 minutes over low heat, and then leave for 24 hours.
Oil based
The medicine is prepared in two ways - cold and hot. Stems and leaves are used. It is better to use olive oil as a base, but you can also use flaxseed or homemade sunflower oil.
Cold cooking
Finely chop the prepared raw materials. Squeeze out the juice. Add olive oil to it in the proportion: 1 part juice and 2 parts oil. Keep the medicine for 21 days in a cool, dark place.
Be sure to shake the tincture before use.
Hot cooking
Grind the flower shoots. Pour in olive oil in the proportion: 2 parts oil and 1 part fresh raw materials. Simmer in the oven at a temperature no higher than 40°C for about 8 hours. Strain and pour into a glass container. Store in a dark and cool place.
To preserve the beneficial properties of the flower, the simmering temperature should not be exceeded.
How to make: recipes
There are many recipes for preparing golden mustache tincture with alcohol or vodka. Let's look at the most popular of them.
Popular recipe with vodka
To begin, take the side shoots of the plant. They need to be finely chopped, after which they are filled with vodka at the rate of 0.5 liters of drink per one and a half dozen joints of the golden mustache. Close the infusion in a dark glass container (as well as in a dark place) and leave for 14 days. After this, filter the medicine with gauze and store it in a dark place.
By the way! A tincture of golden mustache with alcohol can be made in the same way, but you should note that the strength of the alcohol should be significantly reduced by diluting it with water.
If we talk about the external use of this remedy, then it can be used in the treatment of diseases and problems such as:
Osteochondrosis and radiculitis. Bruises, cuts and abrasions. Thrombophlebitis, thrombotic ulcers. Arthrosis and arthritis.
If we talk about internal use, then take this tincture twice a day before meals. Dosage and rules of administration may vary depending on the method of treatment. The drug is drunk, in any case, diluted in a small amount of water. There are 2 most common options for how to take this tincture:
At first, drink 10 drops of the tincture, gradually increasing the dose by 1 drop per day. Having reached 40 drops (i.e., after a month), begin to reduce the dosage, also by 1 drop per day, until we again reach the original value (10 drops). After this, the course of treatment, which lasts 60 days, is interrupted. After a month it can be resumed. The second option involves daily consumption of 30 drops of tincture 2 times a day for a week and a half. The duration of the course is 10 days, after which a ten-day break is taken. Then the course resumes.
Meanwhile! A number of experts express the opinion that the leaves of the plant can also be used to prepare a tincture of golden mustache for drinking.
At the same time, some of their colleagues disagree with this. As for the use of the stem, it is suitable only for external use. By the way, it is this tincture that is effective in the treatment of joint diseases.
Infusion for external use
This remedy takes one and a half to two weeks to prepare. The cooking process itself is similar to the previous recipe. The only difference is that the stems and leaves of the golden mustache are used as raw materials.
Water decoction
A large leaf or tendril of the plant should be finely chopped. Then everything is filled with 1 liter of cold water. Place the pan on the fire, bring to a boil and wait 5 minutes. Then turn it off and wait for half an hour. After straining, place in the refrigerator and keep there for a maximum of 48 hours. How to take this decoction? It's simple: 1 tbsp. l 30 minutes before meals. The duration of treatment is no more than 7 days. Indications for use: pancreatitis, colds, liver and kidney diseases.
Infusion
Take a whole small leaf (you can use ½ of a regular or ¼ of a large leaf of the plant). Pour 200-250 ml of boiling water, cover with a lid and brew until cool. Here is a recipe for an infusion of gold mustache. Use for the same diseases as in the previous recipe. As a sedative, you can make an infusion with equal parts of valerian root, golden mustache, hop cones and peppermint. Drink 100-130 ml before meals 1-2 times a day. This is the infusion of the golden mustache.
Ointment
Another useful recipe is ointment. Squeeze the juice from the crushed parts of the plant (you can use any of them) and mix this juice with the base in a ratio of 1/3. You can use Vaseline, baby cream, etc. as a base. The ointment is used externally: it is used to treat eczema and other skin diseases, burns, as well as joint pain and muscle ailments.
Preparation of oil on golden mustache
Golden mustache oil is very useful for feet and treating skin irritations:
- Chop the stems and leaves and squeeze out the juice.
- Dry the remaining cake, transfer it to a glass jar, and add olive oil.
- Place in a closet for 3 weeks.
- Squeeze out the cake and pour the oil into another dark glass container.
Treatment with oil for corns and heel spurs
Moisten gauze folded in several layers, apply to the corns , and leave overnight. It is necessary to apply compresses several times. The oil also promotes the healing of wounds, abrasions, and deep scratches. To soften bruises, it is good to do rubbing.
Ointment made from homemade ginseng leaves has the same healing properties. Mix the crushed leaf with a jar of regular Vaseline. Mix until you get a homogeneous mixture.
You can prepare a pain-relieving compress for joints. To do this, you need to apply green ointment to the fabric. Tie to the sore joint overnight. The ointment is used for inflammation of the skin, bruises and frostbite.
If you are suffering from a heel spur , then tie a compress with ointment to your heel several times at night: put the ointment on a cloth, apply it to the heel, apply plastic, secure with an elastic bandage.
What can be treated with infusion
The fastest way to prepare an infusion is to place a fleshy leaf about 20 cm long in a jar, pour 1 liter of boiling water, wrap it, and let it brew for a day. The finished infusion will acquire a purple-crimson hue.
Use for diseases of the pancreas, liver, pancreatitis, gallbladder pathology, allergies, cancer, as well as for the prevention of numerous ailments.
How to take: drink 1 tbsp for a month. three times a day. This plant helps many people get rid of alcoholism, but you need to take 1 tbsp. spoon for 3 months without missing a day.
It is easy to make juice from the fleshy leaves, which should be used within 24 hours. Before use, the finished juice must be diluted with boiled water 1:5. The juice is good for treating gastrointestinal ulcers, heart and vascular diseases. Take 1 tbsp. l. three times a day.
Fresh juice is useful for the face: lubricating acne, inflammation, wounds, abrasions. Can be added to masks. After using them, the skin becomes smooth and youthful.
Mask: mix the pulp of the leaves with cucumber puree, add the yolk, apply to the face, hold for 20 minutes, then wash with cool water.
A cream based on this plant has excellent cleansing and rejuvenating properties: mix baby cream with the pulp from the leaves of the plant in a 1:1 ratio. Apply to face for 15 minutes, then wash.
Plant properties
There is still an opinion that official medicine does not recognize the healing properties of the golden mustache. For this reason, “fragrant callisia,” as this plant is also called, is extremely rarely found in medical reference books and books. However, reviews of the treatment of many patients indicate the opposite. On the other hand, the benefits and harms of tinctures from this plant remain completely unstudied. Like many other medicinal plants, golden mustache is poisonous, so treatment with medications made from it should be treated with extreme caution, and before using it, you should consult a doctor.
On the other hand, approximately the same can be said about almost any other medicine. If you take it at the wrong dosage or without prior consultation with a specialist, it can bring not only benefits, but also harm. So, let's say a few words about the plant itself.
Botanical characteristics
This herbaceous plant, commonly known as callisia, fragrant callisia, and golden mustache, is an indoor plant and is grown at home. It has two types of shoots:
Dense, reaching 2 or more meters in height, vertical. The so-called “whiskers” that extend from them and are horizontal, or tubular. They consist of small knees, which are also called joints or joints.
Meanwhile, it is the side shoots that have the so-called “rosettes”, with the help of which reproduction is carried out. The plant has long leaves that reach 0.2-0.3 meters in length. As for the flowers, they are quite small in size. At the same time, they have a pleasant smell. If we talk about growing golden mustache at home, it should be noted that it blooms quite rarely. At the same time, it contains special substances, flavonoids (quercetin, as well as kaempferol). In addition, it also contains a substance such as beta-sitostyrol. Meanwhile, some call it such interesting “names” as “domestic ginseng”, corn (since the leaves of these two plants are somewhat similar to each other) and also “Far Eastern mustache”.
At the same time, someone mistakenly calls the golden whisker the hair of Venus (it should be noted that the latter belongs to the fern family), and some even believe that it is the same as Dichorisandra bouquetiflora. This mistake has been repeated for many years. Why is this happening? In fact, there is an interesting story in this regard. Back in Soviet times, one of the magazines published a photograph of a golden mustache, with an incorrect signature underneath it. People at that time were much more gullible, because they were used to believing official publications. This is such an interesting story. At the same time, it should be recognized that both plants are quite similar in appearance, since they belong to the same genus. Although, of course, there is also a certain difference.
Botanical description
The plant grows in height from 70 to 120 cm. The main shoots are similar to the well-known corn. The stems are fleshy, thick, divided into two types\6 horizontal (tubular, long) with leaves growing in a spiral and vertical (thicker) shortened with a formed large rosette of leaves.
The leaves of fragrant callisia are large: up to 5-6 cm wide and 20-30 cm long. Arranged alternately, green in color with a special shine. In conditions of strong light, the leaves tend to turn pink.
After reaching adulthood, the golden mustache throws out horizontal, vine-like processes (“whiskers”), consisting of joints with a leaf rosette at the ends.
The flowering of the plant is very beautiful, but occurs quite rarely. The flowers are small, collected in inflorescences and have a strong, pleasant aroma. The petals are white with prominent stamens.
Useful properties of homemade ginseng
People call the golden mustache homemade ginseng, attributing amazing properties to it. It is difficult to list all its benefits for the treatment of diseases. Let's name its main useful properties:
- Has an antitumor, antisclerotic effect;
- Improves the condition of the blood and the vessels through which it flows;
- Slows down the aging process, improves the condition of facial skin and hair;
- Improves the functioning of the gastrointestinal tract, relieves heartburn;
- It has a pronounced antibacterial and anti-allergenic effect.
Only a small part of the beneficial properties of this magical plant has been named. It is worth saying that containing vitamins C, group B and carotenoids (provitamins A), callisia strengthens the immune system, has a positive effect on cell membranes, and normalizes metabolism, including in the myocardium and nervous tissue. And a large amount of vitamin PP perfectly calms the nervous system.
The microelement composition is also impressive: chromium, nickel, calcium, copper, zinc, iron.
The use of tinctures and decoctions of compresses helps cure many diseases.
From personal experience. A friend of mine, who celebrated her 88th birthday, has been drinking a tincture of this plant for more than 30 years. To this day he goes to the pool, sees well, has a good memory and rarely suffers from high blood pressure.
What does this plant treat? The healing properties are so multifaceted that traditional healers recommend using the plant for all ailments, even in cases where traditional medicine is powerless.
It can be used by heart patients with diabetes, for diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, gallbladder, thyroid gland, joints, blood vessels, and non-healing wounds.
Growing and care
Golden mustache is a plant that requires fresh air and a calm atmosphere. The kitchen and smoking areas are not the best places to locate it. The flower is grown both at home and in greenhouses. At home, fragrant callisia blooms very rarely, therefore, in order to get a beautiful, powerful plant that will occasionally delight you with its flowering, you need to follow simple care rules.
- Lighting . The plant does very well in bright rooms. But it does not perceive direct sunlight, especially on hot summer days. When there is insufficient lighting, the Chinese mustache begins to stretch, and the leaves become pale in color.
- Soil . The home doctor loves loose, nutritious soil. A spacious pot and the obligatory presence of drainage are the best helpers in growing a strong, powerful flower. When preparing the substrate for planting, you can use several methods:
– purchase soil from a specialized store and mix it with garden soil.
– prepare the mixture yourself from humus, soil (preferably from under deciduous trees, except birch), and river sand. The entire composition must be treated with a solution of potassium permanganate and inspected for rotten leaves. River sand should first be washed and heated well in the oven or in a frying pan.
- Temperature and humidity . Fragrant callisia prefers a fairly high temperature in the summer - 25-27 ° C with a humidity of 50-60%. Frequent ventilation or growing on a balcony or terrace is recommended. In winter, the temperature is allowed to drop to a maximum of -12 °C.
- Reproduction . When propagating, you should choose an already mature plant. It is not difficult to identify him; he has 12 joints on his mustache. Golden mustache reproduces in two ways:
- using sockets. Such rosettes are formed at the ends of the shoots of purple color. In order for them to produce roots, they must be cut and placed in a container with 3/4 full of water. Leave for 1-2 weeks so that the roots recover a little. Afterwards, the sprout can be planted in a small container with pre-prepared soil. Such actions should be carried out in autumn or spring.
- independently, bending down and taking root in the soil. After the sprout has grown stronger, it can be dug up and planted separately. Or leave it in the same pot, separated from the mother plant. This will make the bush look more luxuriant.
- Watering and spraying . Callisia fragrant is a big lover of water. It needs daily moderate watering. Waterlogged soil also has a bad effect on the flower. It is advisable to carry out water procedures in the morning. In the autumn-winter period, watering is reduced to 2-3 times a week, provided the temperature is low. At temperatures above +25 °C, watering is not reduced. It is recommended to irrigate the foliage 2-3 times a week with settled warm water to avoid drying out and wash away dust deposits.
- Fertilizer . For plant growth and the development of a good root system, the golden mustache must be fed with liquid fertilizers, purchased in specialized stores or made independently:
– 1st method: combine 1.5 tsp. potassium salt, 3 tsp. superphosphate and 10 liters of water. Before applying fertilizer, the plant should be watered with plain water. It is recommended to feed this way once every 2 weeks.
– 2nd method: dilute 2.5 tsp in 10 liters of water. ammonium nitrate, 1 tsp. potassium salt, 2 tsp. superphosphate, a few drops of ferric chloride. Before fertilizing, the soil must also be moistened to avoid burns. Watering with this fertilizer is enough 2 times a month.
– 3rd method: for rapid growth, housewives use milk water fertilizer. In 1 l. dilute water with ¼ cup milk. You can also wipe foliage with this solution.
- Tying up . Home doctor is a rather fragile plant with long shoots. To ensure that it does not break or deform under its own weight, it must be provided with additional supports.
- Difficulties in growing.
– Dry leaf tips or the appearance of brown spots on them indicate sunburn or a lack of minerals.
– Dull leaves or yellow spots on them indicate a lack of fertilizer.
– Rotting root leaves indicate too low a temperature or too much water.
- Pests . The golden mustache is extremely rarely attacked by any pests. But red spider mites can still attack a plant if it is not properly cared for. First of all, it is recommended to ventilate the room and spray the foliage. In case of severe damage, you should resort to using a solution of laundry soap and tobacco or an insecticide. Treat the plant and cover with film or a bag for 2-3 days.
Collection and procurement of raw materials
Scientists who have studied the golden mustache as a medicinal plant claim that it acquires healing properties when the horizontal shoots acquire a characteristic purple hue and form at least 9 mustaches. The indoor plant accumulates the maximum amount of useful substances by autumn.
Stems and leaves cut at the base of the rosettes are used as medicinal raw materials. Before preparing medicines, it is necessary to place the stems and leaves in cling film and keep them in the refrigerator: 2 weeks for stems, 3 days for leaves. Leaves and stems are used to make dosage forms for external use, and leaves for internal use.
