Useful properties of dates
Dates are the fruits of a special type of palm tree. A fresh date is a juicy oval-shaped berry with a bright red color. It is credited with a lot of beneficial properties. Nutritionists recommend eating dates instead of sugar.
A decrease in blood glucose levels makes a person feel hungry. It’s easy to get enough of dates, which is important when fighting extra pounds. Dates are also allowed for those who have previously fasted and want to break their fast.
What are the benefits of dates?
If you have gastritis, your diet should be varied. Delicious foods should appear in the diet periodically. This will allow you to enjoy food, and positive feelings at any level will contribute to the successful treatment of the disease.
The fruits of the date palm are not just tasty. The composition of the product is rich in vitamins, it contains in large quantities:
- B vitamins, which stabilize the functioning of the nervous system, help protect against stress and normalize hormonal levels.
- Vitamin PP, which promotes joint restoration and prevents the development of Alzheimer's disease.
- Vitamin E, which regulates metabolic processes and prevents the aging process.
- Vitamin C, which has a strengthening effect on the body and strengthens the immune system.
When eating fruits, the body receives more minerals that are beneficial for health. It is also recommended to eat dates because they contain important amino acids.
Composition of the product
Dates are rich in carbohydrates.
Minerals
The following were found in dates:
- calcium;
- potassium;
- sodium;
- iron;
- manganese;
- boron;
- sulfur;
- fluorine;
- selenium.
Amino acids
Dates contain 23 amino acids. Fruits contain tryptophan, which is necessary for normal nervous activity. The substance prevents cell aging and has a mild sedative effect.
The product is useful for gastritis: glutamic acid contained in dates neutralizes excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach and prevents heartburn.
Carbohydrates
Date carbohydrates promote rapid saturation and restoration of energy resources. The fruit is low in calories and does not contain much cholesterol. The fruit is consumed during diets.
To provide the body with the daily need for most minerals and amino acids, it is enough to eat 10 dates per day. The fruits contain substances that restore the microflora of the stomach, which is valuable for bacterial inflammation and intestinal parasitosis.
Benefits for women
The relevance of dates for women cannot be underestimated. They contain substances and elements that help strengthen muscle tissue. In matters of pregnancy, it is especially important to assess the density of the muscular walls of the uterus, since the pain of labor depends on them. That is why doctors very often advise including these berries in your diet; they help strengthen the walls of muscle tissue, thus reducing the pain of childbirth.
In addition, due to the high content of a wide range of useful elements, when eating these fruits, the possibility of bleeding after childbirth is significantly reduced, again, due to the density of the muscle walls.
Also, for women who have already given birth to a child, dates will be very useful. Very often after childbirth there is a general decline in mood, apathy and a detached state appear. Often, if you do not pay attention to this, the condition can smoothly transform into depression, which is quite difficult to deal with. At these stages, it is extremely important for the body to receive all the vitamins and minerals in the required quantities, since after childbirth it is severely depleted, it needs complete recovery, otherwise there may be harmful consequences.
Many young mothers, faced with the problem of breastfeeding due to low milk supply, are faced with unusual advice to include dates in their diet. Most perceive this as nothing more than unnecessary advice, believing that all vitamins can be obtained exclusively with the help of medications.
However, they do not take into account the fact that natural vitamins and minerals, unlike synthesized ones, are much better and faster absorbed by the body. Moreover, due to the large number of medications, a heavy load is created on the liver and kidneys, which, with a long course of treatment, can lead to new problems. This creates a vicious circle, forcing you to constantly take pills.
This is why it is important to get as many vitamins as possible from natural sources, fruits and vegetables. Dates are also very useful for women in everyday life, again by strengthening the body, allowing women to more easily endure monthly cycles, without being distracted by severe pain syndromes, and without suffering from confusion.

In what form should you eat date palm fruits for gastritis?
How to wash dates after purchasing
This fruit most often enters our retail chains in dried form. The uniqueness of the product is that even in a dried state it retains all its beneficial qualities. Due to long transportation, the fruits are pre-treated with sulfur dioxide. With this processing, the fruit retains its quality, consistency and color. Sulfur dioxide protects the product from insects and rodents. But this chemical compound negatively affects our mucous membranes; dried fruits must be thoroughly washed before use.
In dried dates, the concentration of nutrients is much higher than in fresh fruit. The shelf life of dried fruits, if stored in the refrigerator, is up to 5 years. Fresh fruit is stored for about 9 – 10 months. To summarize, let's say that the dried product is much healthier, but contains more sugars.
Consumption standards and recipes
For gastritis with high acidity, the daily intake of dried dates is 200-250 g. You should not eat more than 5 pieces at a time. It is better to consume them 20-25 minutes before meals, three times a day.
For gastritis with low acidity, you should not eat more than 3 dates per day. The fruits must first be peeled and only the pulp eaten.
Dates go well with other fruits and can be added to main courses. The diet that every patient with gastritis must adhere to includes gentle nutrition.

This will get rid of excess sugar that will dissolve in the water.
A smoothie differs from any drink in its consistency. The finished product can be consumed for breakfast; it eliminates hunger well. Cooking algorithm:
- soak oatmeal in hot water for 10-12 hours;
- drain excess liquid;
- Grind the pulp together with dates (3-4 pcs) until smooth;
- add berry syrup, milk or honey to taste.
Date jam is prepared without adding sugar. Dried fruits (200-300 g) are poured with water at room temperature (150 ml) and placed on low heat. After the syrup has acquired an amber hue, the product is ready for use.
Date pilaf is prepared according to the standard procedure. It is better to choose non-fat meat for the dish - chicken or turkey will do. The fillet is cut into large pieces and fried with onions and carrots in vegetable oil until golden brown.
Pre-washed rice (until the water is clear) is placed on top of vegetables and meat. Fill with water and add 5-6 dates, salt and herbal seasoning. Cover the container tightly and place on the stove until the liquid boils. After this, the dish is simmered over low heat until cooked.
Any sweet dish is considered dessert. Dates can be baked in apples. To do this, 4 large fruits are cut lengthwise and the middle is carefully removed. Oatmeal, boiled in milk, is drained.
Peels are removed from dates (30 g), the pulp is ground in a blender and oatmeal is added to it. There is no need to add sugar. The resulting mixture is stuffed into apples and baked in the oven until cooked.

Calorie content of dates
Calorie content per 100 grams
1 date, weighing 25 grams, contains ~23 kilocalories. 100 grams of dates contain ~92 kilocalories.
Dates contain 80% carbohydrates, but they are represented by natural sugars: glucose, fructose and sucrose, due to which they supply the body with “quick energy”.

Tryptophan prevents aging: a sufficient amount of it in food allows you to stop the aging process of cells. In addition, thanks to tryptophan, dates have a mild sedative and hypnotic effect.
In addition to tryptophan, dates also contain another amino acid - glutamic acid, which prevents heartburn by neutralizing excess stomach acid.

How to choose dates?
How to choose dates?
Dates are cultivated in hot countries. On average, up to 100 kg of fruits are harvested from one palm tree. The product reaches our shelves in a dried state in large boxes or already packaged; the variety is usually not indicated, only the exporting country is known. Raw fruits are very rare here.
In order not to harm your health, you need to buy only high-quality dates. Good, unspoiled fruit are uniform in color, usually dark or reddish brown. The product must be free of stains and inclusions. Properly dried fruits do not stick to each other, this indicates that they do not contain excess moisture.
Pay attention to the skin. In a high-quality date, it does not peel off from the pulp and does not have cracks. Cracked fruits are evidence of dates being dried in a mechanical dryer and treated with chemicals. This drying method is also indicated by the glossy appearance of the skin. The presence of sugar crystals on dates indicates a violation during transportation and storage.
Date palm fruits are dried exclusively in the sun. This product has a bright taste and is healthy. It is better to buy dates with a stone, and it is better to refuse empty fruits. Although dates have a long shelf life, you should not stock up on this product for future use. Buy dates in small quantities and store them in the refrigerator in a covered container.
