Bags under the eyes: causes, symptoms and treatment in women after 50 years

Bags under the eyes cause a lot of inconvenience to any woman. The skin in this area is the most sensitive, so it is primarily susceptible to negative factors and reflects the state of the body. Bags are sometimes present in women permanently or temporarily, giving the appearance an unhealthy appearance.

Women who have crossed the age of 50 are most susceptible to this problem.

One of the inevitable reasons is age, and the older the woman, the more the periorbital tissue grows, which sags under the skin of the lower eyelids, and blood circulation is impaired. The bags begin to sag constantly, and can gradually increase. This picture is especially clear in the morning.

Causes of bags under the eyes in women

The main reasons for the appearance of bags under the eyes are the following:

  • accumulation of excess fluid under the skin;
  • decreased elasticity of the dermis;
  • proliferation of tissue surrounding the eye.

In the latter case, bags under the eyes in women are more often hereditary and are formed due to the physiological characteristics of the periorbital tissue.

Swelling is caused by the following:

  • in the area under the eyes there is a branched vascular network, and the skin is quite thin. The combination of these factors forms swelling and causes dark bags under the eyes;
  • the eyelids are constantly in motion (when we squint or blink), the skin stretches and weakens;
  • loose structure of subcutaneous fat in this part of the face;
  • free space to retain moisture.

Swelling on the face is traditionally considered a problem for the weaker sex. But this is only because women are much more concerned about their appearance than men. Although swelling is common to everyone, it is provoked by similar causes.

Attention: when bags under the eyes are a consequence of diseases of the internal organs, medical attention will be required.

If swelling of the face is caused by everyday factors, it is possible to get rid of bags under the eyes forever by adjusting your lifestyle.

Treatment

There are a large number of ways to get rid of bags. Below are the most popular ones, which include both cosmetic procedures and some folk recipes that can be used at home.

Cosmetology methods

They are highly effective, but require multiple procedures. These include methods:

  • Mesotherapy . It is one of the methods of introducing drugs, for example, vitamins and amino acids, under the skin, as well as homeopathy. To achieve maximum effect, you will need to visit a cosmetologist up to 10 times.
  • Cryolifting . This procedure consists of a short-term, targeted application of cold to the skin. As a result, skin cells experience stress, and the process of removing excess fluid is activated.

Why do they form under the eyes in healthy women?

The main cause of puffiness in the eye area in women is lack of sleep. The problem may also arise due to:

  • alcohol abuse;
  • eye strain. This is especially true for ladies who work in an office using a PC;
  • love of salty and spicy foods;
  • frequent and prolonged exposure to the sun or solarium.

Natural causes include age-related skin changes, which cannot be avoided, but it is quite possible to prolong youth.

Factors influencing changes in eyelid color

There are many factors that influence the change in color of the skin around the eye:

  • sedentary lifestyle;
  • drug addiction, alcoholism;
  • nicotine addiction;
  • stressful situations, nervous overstrain;
  • eye strain when working with a computer;
  • unbalanced diet;
  • large fluid intake.

Timely identification of the cause of the sudden appearance of dark circles under the eyes will help to effectively cope with the disease.

Why bags under the eyes in women, reasons, how to treat

There are several factors that provoke edema and are unique to women. Surprisingly, the face often undergoes negative changes precisely in the pursuit of beauty.

Why bags under the eyes in women, reasons, how to treat

Bags under the eyes can be caused by:

  • abuse of foundations and shadows;
  • the habit of applying moisturizer too thickly. This will not add any benefits, but swelling may appear, because such products consist of approximately 85% moisture;
  • sleeping with decorative cosmetics not removed;
  • Botox injections, which destabilize the lymphatic system;
  • applying low-quality makeup products to the face or after their expiration date.

Not drinking enough is just as harmful as drinking too much. When little water enters the body, it begins to accumulate it, and the lower eyelids are the most suitable place for this.

Another natural cause of bags under the eyes in women is the period of pregnancy. During pregnancy, the body is exposed to excessive stress, and the kidneys cannot cope with them.

Minor swelling in pregnant women is normal in most cases, but if it develops in the first trimester or is very severe, you should consult your doctor. Voluminous bags under the eyes can be evidence of the development of dangerous pathologies that threaten women’s health problems and termination of pregnancy.

Swelling of the eyelids in women can also indicate other “problems” in the body’s functioning or lifestyle. Let's take a closer look at the most common reasons.

Love for parties

The holidays are certainly pleasant, bring pleasure and positive emotions, but they can noticeably affect your appearance in the morning.

Parties

The food offered at parties cannot be called healthy. It involves the consumption of alcoholic and carbonated drinks, which contributes to the accumulation of excess fluid in the body.

Prevention of bags and bruises under the eyes

In order not to look for more and more new means of combating puffiness around the eyes, you need to identify the cause of the phenomenon and try to prevent its occurrence.

  • Review your diet, reduce the amount of fatty, salty, smoked, fried foods, and spices. Eat more fresh vegetables and fruits, whole grain cereals.
  • If you have kidney problems and a tendency to retain fluid in the body, limit your consumption of tea, coffee, juice, soda and other drinks, especially in the evening, so that there is no swelling in the morning.
  • Every evening, remove eye makeup and cleanse your skin with special delicate products.
  • Do not use cheap, low-quality cosmetics, both decorative and caring. Spend some money on good eye shadow, mascara, eyeliner, and cream or serum for the skin around the eyes. It is not necessary to buy the most expensive products; it is enough to choose products from a good, trusted manufacturer and choose cosmetics for your skin type.
  • In the morning and evening, after washing your face, apply moisturizing cream to your eyelids and gently massage them. It won't take much time, but it will help keep your skin toned.
  • In summer, try not to stay in the sun for too long and choose good sunglasses. Do not overuse the solarium. After sunbathing, be sure to moisturize your facial skin. In hot weather, drink plenty of clean water.

If the above recommendations did not help you get rid of swelling or bruising, then the reason lies in health problems. Be sure to get examined by a doctor. He will identify possible diseases and select treatment. Once the cause is eliminated, bruises, bags and swelling under the eyes will disappear on their own.

How to remove bags under the eyes of women

To get rid of an unpleasant cosmetic defect, you need to balance your diet. Women who want to maintain youth for a long time should exclude from their diet foods that are too spicy, salty, or rich in spices. It is advisable to give up alcohol completely and drink about two liters of plain water per day. A couple of hours before bedtime, you should stop drinking liquids.

Cosmetics will speed up the solution to the problem.

Cosmetics

There are a lot of anti-puffiness remedies, so it’s better if a cosmetologist can help you choose the most effective one.

Most drugs do not contain synthetic derivatives, but are based on the action of plant extracts.

Attention: before use, make sure you are not allergic to the components of the product!

If you need to quickly remove bags, use bag creams with caffeine: Caffeine Roller Gel (Garnier), Bark, Green Coffee, etc.

When swelling appears from time to time, it is better to choose a product that includes:

  • hyaluronic acid;
  • elastin;
  • horse chestnut;
  • collagen.

This group includes Green Pharmacy, Belita-Vitex, etc.

If the skin of the eyelids turns blue, a cream with vitamin K and whitening agents is suitable. For example, Eye Cream with Vit. K & Matrixyl.

Salon treatments

Beauty salons will help you quickly and efficiently tighten your skin. The procedures offered here to women are targeted methods.

Salon treatments for bags under the eyes

The most effective of them:

  • lymphatic drainage;
  • biorevitalization;
  • contour plastic with synthetic fillers;
  • electrical stimulation;
  • chemical peeling;
  • mesotherapy;
  • mesothreads - lifting facial contours with correction threads.

All these manipulations are aimed at renewing the epidermis, removing excess fluid, and stimulating the body’s production of its own collagen and elastin. They provide a course of treatment, but are practically painless and do not require adherence to a postoperative regimen. The duration of most procedures is 15 minutes.

The methods are selected individually and have some contraindications. Therefore, it is very important to contact a qualified specialist. "Bushers" can cause serious harm to health.

Massage

Massaging the eyelids helps increase the flow of lymphatic fluid from the problem area and tones the muscles. It can be carried out in a beauty salon or at home. The massaging technology is very simple.

Every day in the morning, tap the lower eyelid with your fingertips for a couple of minutes, first to the corner of the eye, then to the bridge of the nose.

Another technique involves gentle, targeted pressure on the area between the nose and the inner corner of the eye, moving to the edges of the eye orbits. Before the massage, you should lubricate your eyelids with cream.

Exercises

Special gymnastics will not take much time either. An excellent way to prevent swelling is to exercise, which is advisable to do four times a day. Lower your eyelids and fix the outer corners with your fingers, avoiding the formation of folds on the skin. Close your eyes, hold the pose for five seconds, then relax your muscles. Ten approaches should be performed at a time.

Folk remedies

Folk remedies in the fight against bags under the eyes of women have long proven their effectiveness. They are easy to prepare at home, and they compare favorably with industrial eyelid cosmetics due to their low cost.

Folk remedies for bags under the eyes

As eye lotions you can use:

  • brewed herbal tea bags;
  • a pulp of cabbage, potatoes and parsley roots, ground in a blender;
  • pieces of black bread, chilled in the freezer;
  • a quarter teaspoon of soda dissolved in half a glass of cold water.

These compounds need to be soaked in cotton pads and applied to the eyelids for a quarter of an hour.

Well-known traditional medicines are decoctions of medicinal herbs. Best for bags under the eyes:

  • Linden;
  • series;
  • cornflower;
  • horsetail;
  • chamomile;
  • arnica;
  • dill;
  • sage.

To prepare the solution, take a teaspoon of any crushed plant (or mixture), add 150 g of hot water, let it brew for 15 minutes. Refrigerate or freeze. Wipe your face with the resulting pieces of ice.

How to get rid of bruises at home

If it is not possible to see a doctor, you can remove dark circles under the eyes using the following methods:

  • Fresh potato masks
    . You can grate it until it becomes a paste, or cut it into large slices. The resulting mass or cut pieces are applied under the eyes and left for 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Tea compresses
    . You can use ready-made tea bags or dip a cotton pad in a solution of strong tea. Apply the resulting compresses to the area around the eyes and leave for 15 minutes.
  • Parsley masks
    . To prepare the mask, use two parts butter and add one part chopped parsley. The mask is applied to the skin around the eyes and kept for no more than half an hour.
  • Ice
    . Pour the liquid into special ice trays and leave in the freezer until it hardens. It is better to use not just water, but herbal decoctions. For example, a decoction of cornflower or chamomile. Ice has a tonic effect and can strengthen blood vessels.

What do permanent bags under the eyes mean?

The condition of the skin in the periocular area can be used to judge the condition of most internal organs. The cause of persistent swelling is usually a disease. The color of the bags is of great importance.

Cosmetologists conduct a special test to determine the causes of swelling. To do this, use the tip of your finger to lightly press on the lower eyelid and release. If the skin becomes darker, it means that characteristic age-related changes are occurring. A non-changing color indicates exposure to an allergen, and faint circles indicate problems with blood vessels.

Doctors also often look at the shade of the bags when visually examining a patient to make the correct diagnosis.

Blue circles

The most dangerous thing that dark circles under the eyes can indicate is heart disease, including such a dangerous pathology as heart failure.

Additional symptoms of heart disease:

  • pain behind the sternum on the left;
  • rapid pulse;
  • dyspnea;
  • constant malaise;
  • fatigue.

In this case, you should contact a cardiologist as soon as possible, who will conduct the necessary examinations (ECG, X-ray, ECHO), based on the results of which he will prescribe adequate treatment.

Other causes of bluish bags on the face in women are:

  • too thin skin;
  • lack of sleep;
  • smoking;
  • hormonal imbalances in pregnant women;
  • alcohol abuse.

Often blue swelling of the lower eyelids appears as a result of head injury. Severe injuries are characterized by the formation of “spectacles” around both eyes. The situation requires a visit to a traumatologist and an X-ray examination.

Brown circles

Bags of a brownish tint bother women with impaired pigmentation and tan lovers.

Dark circles also form with an incorrectly selected diet, which results in a lack of vitamins and nutritional deficiencies.

Red circles

Redness around the eyes is a classic symptom of inflammation. The most common cause is inflammation of the conjunctiva of the eye. The nature of the disease may vary. Experts distinguish: viral, bacterial, gonococcal, allergic conjunctivitis. They have similar symptoms and require treatment by an ophthalmologist.

Another common pathology that leads to red circles is sinusitis. The sinuses are located directly under the eyes, so when one of them (or both) becomes inflamed, a reddish swelling forms in the lower eyelid.

If sinusitis is unilateral, a bag may form under only one eye. Additional symptoms of the disease:

  • persistent nasal congestion;
  • low-grade fever;
  • headache in the frontal region;
  • general malaise.

An ENT doctor treats sinusitis. If the disease is acute, antibacterial drugs and physiotherapy are usually prescribed. In chronic cases, a puncture is performed.

Yellow circles

Yellow eyelids in women indicate the likelihood of the following problems:

  • liver pathologies;
  • increased levels of carotene;
  • disturbances in the functioning of the circulatory system;
  • constant stress;
  • gallbladder diseases;
  • prolonged exposure to ultraviolet rays;
  • insufficient rest;
  • alcoholism and smoking.

If the cause of yellowness is pathology of internal organs, you will need the help of a specialist. When it is caused by everyday factors, it is enough to correct the lifestyle.

Why does swelling occur?

The causes of swelling on the face are physiological and pathological. To eliminate the unpleasant phenomenon in the first case, it is enough to reconsider your lifestyle and habits. In the second case, the cause is systemic diseases, so it is necessary to identify and eliminate the root cause of edema.

External reasons

Quite often, bags appear in older people due to swelling of the skin and subcutaneous layer. In old age, this phenomenon can be considered normal. In young and relatively healthy people, swelling under the eyes occurs in the following cases:

  • With constant lack of sleep and severe fatigue. The condition returns to normal after the person has had a good rest.
  • After eating too salty foods in the evening. Due to salty food, a person drinks a lot, while salt retains water in the body. In this case, the kidneys do not have time to remove fluid from the body, due to which edema forms.
  • Frequent consumption of alcoholic beverages also contributes to prolonged water retention in the body.
  • Heavy tanning can also cause unsightly bags on your eyelids. This is due to the body’s protective reaction and the accumulation of excessive fluid under the skin.
  • Severe overstrain of the visual organs. This may be due to prolonged work at the computer or reading in low light.
  • In women, the cause of swelling on the face may be an increased level of estrogen. This phenomenon occurs before menstruation.
  • Unsightly puffiness under the eyes can also be a result of age-related changes. After 50 years, the skin becomes less elastic and slightly sags.
  • Heredity. Some people have such a shape of their eyes that their lower eyelids always seem to be swollen.

In all these cases, puffiness under the eyes is not accompanied by other symptoms or deterioration in health. This phenomenon goes away on its own a few hours after waking up or after eliminating the root causes that caused the swelling. If the bags under the lower eyelids are caused by age, then they persist throughout the day, but do not bring any inconvenience to the person. Only in some cases the problem may be a hernia of the eyelids; surgical treatment is necessary here.

If you often have bags under your eyes, you should reconsider your lifestyle.

Internal reasons

Quite often, swelling under the eyes is perceived only as an exclusively cosmetic defect. But there is no need to take this phenomenon so lightly, as it can indicate a number of serious diseases. If, in addition to swelling on the face, there are other symptoms, then the following diseases can be suspected:

  • Diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract. During an acute attack of pyelonephritis, swelling can appear on the body in just a few hours. This disease occurs with a number of characteristic symptoms - lower back pain, general weakness, fever, difficulty urinating and changes in the color of urine. With glomerulonephritis, blood pressure always increases, symptoms of intoxication are observed, and there may be blood in the urine.
  • Respiratory infections can also cause swelling on the face. In this case, there is a high temperature, nasal congestion and sore throat.
  • Sinusitis. When the paranasal sinuses become inflamed, the adjacent tissues also often swell. Sinusitis is more often one-sided, so a bag is observed only under the left or right eye. Sinusitis occurs with pain in the nasal appendages, high fever and purulent runny nose.
  • Conjunctivitis. Symptoms of this disease are burning and pain in the eyes, lacrimation and suppuration. The conjunctiva of the eyes turns red, after sleep the patient cannot open his eyes, as the eyelashes are stuck together with viscous purulent masses.
  • Allergies often occur with tissue swelling. After contact with irritants, bags under the eyes may appear in just a few minutes. Allergy symptoms include skin rashes, itching, frequent sneezing and rhinitis.
  • Endocrinological pathologies. Swelling under the eyes often appears with thyroid disease. In this case, an enlarged goiter compresses the blood vessels in the neck and the outflow of blood from the head worsens. Associated symptoms of thyroid disease may include excess weight, irritability, split nails and hair loss.
  • Swelling around the eye sockets may indicate chronic heart failure. In this case, dark circles are observed around the visual organs. Frequent heart pain, irregular heart rhythm and unstable blood pressure should alert you.
  • Facial injuries can also cause facial swelling. In this case, the eyes are very swollen, sometimes they close completely. The cause of this phenomenon may not necessarily be an eye injury; swelling can be caused by a fracture of the upper jaw or nose.

The cause of swelling under the eyes can also be compression of the vena cava. This is often seen with breast or lung tumors. Compression of a vein almost always indicates metastases.

To make a correct diagnosis, it is necessary to conduct a complete examination of the patient.

In pregnant women

Slight swelling under the eyes in pregnant women can be considered normal. During pregnancy, fluid is not excreted normally from the body, accumulating in fatty tissues and the subcutaneous layer. This is what often leads to excess weight gain during pregnancy.

The appearance of swelling on the face is considered more natural in later stages. But if your face becomes swollen in just a few minutes or hours, then you should consult a doctor. This may indicate kidney problems and a complicated pregnancy.

In children

Small bags under the eyes of a newborn baby are considered normal. This is due to the fact that when passing through the birth canal, blood circulation is somewhat disrupted.

But if this phenomenon persists for too long, then its cause may lie in the following diseases:

  • Hemolytic disease. Develops with different Rh blood levels in mother and baby.
  • Improper functioning of the thyroid gland. In this case, increased body weight, swelling and developmental delay are observed.
  • Dropsy of the brain. Accompanied by increased intracranial pressure and edema.
  • Heart or liver defects.
  • Kidney diseases and various anomalies of the urinary tract.
  • Viral infections.
  • Allergy.

Swelling under the eyes in children is not always a symptom of some disease. This phenomenon occurs with prolonged crying, as well as with incorrect body position during sleep.

In older children, the causes of swelling on the face are the same as in adults. If a child experiences problems with urination, abdominal pain, or symptoms of intoxication due to swelling, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor.

Prevention

Women who have just begun to develop bags under their eyes or have a genetic predisposition to them can prevent negative changes in facial contours by following a few simple rules. Preventive measures:

  • drink about two liters of water per day;
  • train yourself to sleep on your back;
  • spend more time outdoors;
  • sleep eight hours a day;
  • avoid stress and overwork.

It is advisable to include in your diet foods that help remove fluid from the body: pumpkin, cereals, whole grain bread. Do not eat salty or spicy foods at night.

Bags under the eyes are not always just a harmless cosmetic defect. Sometimes they are a symptom of serious diseases. Particular attention should be paid to the appearance of swelling in pregnant women; there may be a threat of interruption or abnormal progress in the process of bearing a child. In any case, before entering the battle for beauty, it is worth undergoing a medical examination.

Symptoms

Puffiness under the eyes can be recognized by a number of characteristic symptoms. These include the following conditions:

  • The man looks very tired and exhausted.
  • The pigmentation of the lower eyelids is increased; they appear darker compared to the skin of the entire face.
  • Sagging skin under the lower eyelids creates a shadow.
  • There are dark circles under the eyes.
  • Capillaries can be visible through the thin skin.

The appearance of severe swelling under the eyes can be noticed immediately. Usually this phenomenon is more pronounced in the morning, when a person gets out of bed. During the day, the swelling decreases somewhat.

A cup of tea or coffee drunk immediately before bed can trigger bags under the eyes in the morning.

ethnoscience

What can help restore a healthy look to your face:

  • If the organs of vision are overstrained, applying used tea bags to them can help. This session usually lasts about 10 minutes. If there are no bags, you can dip cotton swabs in the diluted tea leaves. With this simple method it is quite easy to deal with bruises and bags on the face.

  • Rubbing your eyes with ice is most effective in the morning. This method is one of the simplest and most effective. Ice made from a decoction of sage or parsley is of great benefit.
  • Using cucumber cut into 0.5 cm rings is also quite easy. It is enough to apply vegetables to problem areas for 15 minutes. This method gives a whitening effect. A mask made from grated cucumber mixed with sour cream is no less effective. This composition is applied for a quarter of an hour to the area around the eyes.
  • Potato slices placed on the eyes help whiten and tighten the skin.

Mechanism of edema formation

Edema refers to the accumulation of intercellular fluid in the tissues of the body. The human body consists of 60% water. Normally, most of the fluid is in the cells, and less is in the noncellular space. Its level is constantly maintained by the water-electrolyte balance and the functions of certain organs.

When there is a disturbance in the exchange of water between the blood and tissues, fluid begins to accumulate in the interstitial spaces. As a result, as can be seen in the photo, edema develops. For the following reasons, the periocular tissue is especially prone to it:

  • densely branched network of vessels;
  • excess skin of the eyelids, looseness of subcutaneous tissues;
  • lack of subcutaneous fat;
  • tight attachment of the skin of the nose, forehead and cheeks to the tissues under the eyes;
  • minimal amount of elastin and collagen fibers;
  • Constant blinking, squinting of the eyes.

Heart disease and swelling of the eyes

Diseases of the heart and blood vessels are characterized by the appearance of edema in the legs. They also appear on the face, mainly under the eyes. Often this symptom is accompanied by heart failure, a pathology in which the volume of intercellular fluid increases. Swelling with this disease has a darkish tint. Symptoms such as:

  • pain in the left chest;
  • increased fatigue;
  • dyspnea;
  • bluish tint of swelling on the legs;
  • cardiopalmus.

If these signs occur, you should definitely see a cardiologist. It is useless to get rid of edema using folk remedies or other methods without treating the heart.

Allergy

Often circles under the eyes appear due to allergies of various natures - to pollen, house dust, animals. The main culprit of the disease is called histamine. And the release of histamine is the body’s response to dehydration. And allergies are, first of all, the body’s cry for help, about the urgent need for water.

What's happening? At times of stress (attack of allergens, toxins, other unfavorable factors), water is urgently needed to remove harmful substances. The body includes regulators for the redistribution of water between organs through a cascade of chemical reactions. One of these regulators is histamine.

As a result of experiments with animals, it was proven that with an increase in water intake, histamine production decreases significantly. There is also a rich 25-year positive experience in treating allergy patients with water. According to these data, relief comes from just a few glasses of water. But, with chronic dehydration, it takes several weeks to restore normal body functions. Therefore, in the event of an attack, you should not stop taking prescribed medications in the hope that water will help immediately.

Of particular importance for allergies is the intake of active waters. They reduce the negative impact of allergens by cleansing the body at the cellular level, and have anti-inflammatory, antihistamine, antiallergic, decongestant and immunomodulatory effects. Increases the body's adaptation.

It is better if it is active water.

In order to penetrate the capillaries, maintaining normal fluid circulation in the circulatory system and normal pressure in the vessels, and preventing deposits on the walls, water must have high activity and energy saturation. This is the kind of water that works in our body. Thus, the energy saturation of water in capillaries is 212 KJ/mol, and, for example, tap water -40, tea, coffee -0. Active waters have more than 270 KJ/mol.

We examined a living drop of blood, which is the mirror of the body, 15 minutes after drinking active water

If, before taking water, the cells were glued together, forming a “porridge” in some places, where it was impossible to distinguish individual cells at all.

Activated water instantly enters the intercellular space (ICS), and the amount of plasma and ICP increases significantly. After taking active water, it was possible to see that the plasma became more transparent.

In functional plasma, processes that did not occur before are launched: Stagnant zones disappear: dense clusters of cells are destroyed and spread. The speed of cell movement increases, blood fluidity improves.

Red blood cells move faster and more intensely, which indicates the restoration of their electrical potential, and, consequently, their ability to carry oxygen. This helps improve blood supply and nutrition to organs and tissues and reduces the possibility of cholesterol deposits on the walls.

Plasma quickly saturates damaged (dehydrated red blood cells), returning them to their desired shape and properties. The dynamics of ongoing processes improves.

Why will drinking water help get rid of circles under the eyes in the main, most common cases of their appearance?

Diseases associated with vascular factor

These diseases are also characterized by poor circulation, which is accompanied by a decrease in venous and lymphatic outflow, which leads to the appearance of dark circles. And in this case, it is especially important to avoid dehydration.

When there is not enough water to ensure the normal functioning of all organs, it is taken from the general blood and lymph circulation system. Naturally, with a decrease in blood volume, the body, in order to maintain the required pressure in the system and the uninterrupted operation of all organs, is forced to narrow the vessels and capillaries.

A circulatory disorder occurs, which manifests itself not only in venous stagnation, but also in increased blood pressure. The latter, with chronic water deficiency, can turn into a pathology - hypertension.

In addition, chronic dehydration is a powerful atherogenic factor, which also contributes to circulatory disorders due to changes in blood viscosity and the deposition of cholesterol plaques inside the vessels. Because stimulating the production of cholesterol by the liver is one of the mechanisms for protecting cells from water loss when concentrated blood tries to pull the water it needs from cells through membranes.

And this not only leads to blue circles under the eyes, but also opens a direct path towards atherosclerosis, severe vascular damage, and future cardiovascular pathologies in the form of heart attacks and strokes.

That is why every healthy adult should drink at least 2 liters of drinking water daily. It is better if it is active water, which will provide invaluable assistance in protecting blood vessels and improving blood flow.

Studies have shown that after drinking such waters, blood viscosity decreases, while blood supply to tissues improves. Capillary blood flow, venous and lymphatic outflow improves. Clumped platelets break up into individual cells, i.e. the tendency to thrombus formation decreases. Leukocytes are activated, they secrete enzymes that resolve soft (low density) cholesterol, which helps in the fight against atherosclerosis.

Liver disease and swelling under the eyes

The liver produces blood plasma albumin. It is responsible for maintaining oncotic pressure - a certain part of the blood pressure. With various pathologies of this organ - hepatitis, cancer, cirrhosis - albumin production is disrupted. It is released in insufficient quantities. Due to the drop in oncotic pressure, which remains the same in the intercellular fluid, the vessels lose their ability to retain water. It flows into the fabric. The subcutaneous tissue begins to accumulate fluid, absorbing it from the vessels, which leads to its swelling. As a result, bags appear under the eyes.

Liver disease manifests itself in various symptoms. They depend on the type of pathology. Thus, with cirrhosis, the skin and white of the eye acquire a yellowish tint. May also be observed:

  • weight loss;
  • flatulence;
  • constantly elevated body temperature up to 38°C;
  • sharp pain in the right hypochondrium.

Kidney diseases and swelling of the eyes

A disease such as pyelonephritis can lead to the formation of bags under the eyes. This is an inflammatory process that is accompanied by:

  • general malaise;
  • lower back pain on the left or right;
  • pale skin;
  • change in urine color.

In this case, swelling of the eyes appears only in the morning. A person may wake up at night, look in the mirror and not see this symptom. In the morning it definitely appears.

These are not all pathologies in which the face swells, bags or shadows appear under the eyes. This symptom is observed in diabetes mellitus, intestinal dysfunction, vitamin deficiency and other pathological conditions. The exact cause of edema can only be determined during an examination. In any case, treatment is aimed at eliminating the underlying disease, and not at relieving its individual symptoms.

Symptoms
