Therapeutic properties

Since the pharmaceutical medicine "Regidron", which helps with vomiting, is a complex medicine for the optimal correction of energy and electrolyte balance, its main purpose is to quickly restore the electrolyte balance that occurs during pathological dehydration. At the same time, the formed state of acidosis is corrected.

Medical studies have convincingly proven that products with reduced osmolarity, like the drug "Regidron", the instructions for use report this - 260 mOsm/l, pH 8.2 - are more effective for the oral form of rehydration. The sodium concentration in the drug is slightly lower than that of other medications for the correction of water and electrolyte disorders - this helps prevent hypernatremia. At the same time, the potassium concentration is higher - therefore, the negative state of hypokalemia is eliminated faster.

Indications for use

Rehydron is used as a remedy for poisoning, intestinal disorders, infections of various kinds, and for acidosis.

Key points about using the powder:

  • leaching of the aquatic environment from the body of children, adults, mild and moderate - approximately 3-10% of the total mass of a person (may be accompanied by diarrhea);
  • severe intestinal disorders, manifested by diarrhea, vomiting, which can develop into dysentery, salmonellosis and even cholera;
  • intestinal dysbiosis, manifestations of toxicosis and its exacerbation, complications of ARVI;
  • acute form of pneumonia, accompanied by vomiting, acute diarrhea;
  • poisoning of various kinds, manifested by nausea, diarrhea;
  • intoxication;
  • in case of thermal overload (sweating above normal, heat stroke), resulting in a water imbalance in the body;
  • enormous stress during physical training, increased salivation, frequent thirst;
  • electrolyte imbalance;
  • improper metabolism;
  • high nervousness, stress, ill-considered diet.

special instructions

Treatment of dehydration or poisoning at home is allowed only for mild to moderate lesions. In severe condition and significant loss of moisture (more than 10% of body weight), intravenous administration of saline solutions is required. After normalization of the condition, follow-up treatment with rehydron is possible.

The dosage must be strictly observed; any increase in the solution taken must be carried out under the strict control of blood test values.

Rehydron powder is available in the form of sachets designed for dilution in 1 liter of water. A decrease in fluid leads to an increase in the concentration of the solution, which negatively affects the sodium content in the blood.

Nothing should be added to the solution; despite the taste, it must be drunk unchanged. Eating is possible immediately after consuming the solution.

Preventive treatment with rehydron is used in case of heavy physical activity, especially with rapid loss of body weight against the background of active work.

During physical activity more than normal, especially when overheated, it is possible to use rehydron to prevent water-electrolyte imbalance

Diseases of the kidneys, liver and endocrine system require serious monitoring of blood counts in the case of rehydron therapy. Carried out only in a hospital setting. Consultation with a specialist is required if the following symptoms occur while taking the drug:

  • speech retardation;
  • when symptoms of chronic fatigue syndrome occur;
  • hypersomnia (increased need for sleep);
  • hyperthermia (especially in cases where body temperature exceeds 39 degrees);
  • loose stools with the appearance of blood, mucus or pus;
  • the occurrence of acute abdominal pain, especially against the background of abruptly stopped diarrhea;
  • in the absence of effect from self-treatment.

Important. The use of rehydron in accordance with the treatment conditions does not affect performance and the ability to drive. However, impaired attention or increased drowsiness indicates the need to follow safety measures and not endanger yourself and others.

Instructions for use

  1. How to dilute: fill the bag with 1 liter. boiled water, cool. We drink this liquid little by little, not exceeding 24 hours. A cool place is suitable for storing the resulting mass, the temperature is +3-8 degrees. Do not mix with other medicinal products.
  2. Before starting treatment, it is recommended to assess dehydration - the degree of dehydration.
  3. While using the product, do not stop eating , but it is better to avoid fatty foods and those rich in carbohydrates.
  4. As soon as signs of diarrhea appear, Regidron should be diluted and the solution taken orally. Approximately treatment lasts up to 4 days. In case of severe nausea and vomiting, drink the medicine not hot, in small sips, but often.
  5. When the diarrhea stops, we stop taking the medication. To complete the treatment, drink Regidron for several hours twice as much as the person’s body weight before the disease.
  6. After a new attack, take a certain amount of the finished product within an hour based on the patient’s body weight. Take 10 ml/l of Regidron per kg.
  7. We begin treatment with two or three small sips. We gradually increase the volume if this does not cause new attacks of vomiting.
  8. We use the medicine until the moisture of the skin and mucous membranes is restored, until the feeling of thirst disappears.

How to breed for children?

The powder is given to young children; it is the first aid to restore water imbalance in the body. Carefully study the instructions, strictly follow them, and calculate the dose correctly.

  • Rehydron diluted: per kilogram of baby’s weight from 25 to 60 ml. Take the prepared mixture within the first 10 hours from the moment of onset of illness. After 10 min. after vomiting, take the drink orally.
  • For older children (who eat solid food on their own), you can freeze the prepared product and give it to the child. The ice solution will melt and nausea will decrease.
  • The dosage is based on weight. For example, we calculate 30-60 mg of the product per 1 kg of weight - this is 2-3 tablespoons of the finished mixture. If the child feels better and signs of illness disappear, we reduce mg.
  • for infants to take the indicated medicinal product, provides quick assistance, and is effective. A slightly warm solution is much better absorbed by infants.
  • How to dilute Regidron : dilute one sachet in 1 liter of boiled water. For a baby under six months old, you can dilute the powder in more water. The mixture should look clear, without sediment.
  • Calculate the solution for infants as follows: 2-3 table. spoons (30-60 ml) per kilo/gram of baby’s weight. Slowly pour a teaspoon of solution into the baby’s mouth every 10 minutes. If the little one does not know how to use a spoon, drop the mixture with a pipette.
  • When vomiting or loose stools occur again, we give the baby medicine , which is important to protect him from dehydration. If negative symptoms decrease, reduce the dosage and take less often. If after three days the improvement is hardly noticeable, and diarrhea/vomiting continues, you should call a doctor.
  • Regidron for newborns and children over one year old: dilute the sachet in one liter of boiling water, cool (a warm environment provokes vomiting). Newborns can take more water when diluting the product. Stir until smooth. Babies should be given water from a teaspoon, and babies should be given a drink from a pipette. You can take a drink regardless of the time of eating. For newborns and younger children, give 1-2 teaspoons of the mixture (or 5-10 mg) per kg of weight.

Why take a hydrating product?

Regidron is a drug that is a powder for dilution in water. After its dissolution, a liquid is obtained that, when taken orally, compensates for the loss of water by the body. In addition, it restores the lack of salts and minerals that leave the body through vomiting, loose stools due to diarrhea and sweat. Optimal water-salt balance ensures the normal functioning of all organs.

Use during pregnancy and lactation

During pregnancy and lactation, Regidron is completely safe, but the correct dosage must be observed.
Sometimes pregnant women are recommended to take Regidron due to water retention, also to restore the balance of electrolytes.

Side effect : allergic reaction. It is necessary to consult a doctor before using the product.

The medicinal product is not recommended if the woman is part of a group of people who:

  • suffer from intestinal obstruction;
  • have diabetes;
  • there are kidney failures;
  • if the person is unconscious;
  • prone to allergies to any component of Regidron.

During pregnancy, a dose of 30-60 ml of solution per kg body/day is recommended. Rehydron should be diluted and taken with the appearance of symptoms of poisoning for 3-4 days, until the ailment disappears.

Rehydron is diluted as follows: pour the powder into boiled water, dissolve, mix and drink chilled. Neither sugar, nor salt, nor any other substances are added to the solution.

Contraindications

Before using any product, you should carefully read the instructions. Regidron has contraindications:

  • failure of the liver and kidneys;
  • diabetes mellitus, regardless of form;
  • intestinal obstruction or injury;
  • individual intolerance to components;
  • high blood pressure (hypertension);
  • unconscious state of the patient.

If, after reading the instructions, you still have doubts about the possibility of using the product, you should consult your doctor.

Help with alcohol intoxication

Alcohol abuse will likely affect the accumulation of toxic substances in the body, the leaching of beneficial elements from the blood, and the digestive tract is especially affected.

As a result of a hangover, the body becomes intoxicated.

Regidron ingredients compensate for the lack of necessary substances, remove accumulated toxins, optimize the activity of the nerve endings of the brain, and correct the electrical and energy balance.

Rehydron is easy to dilute and take in case of a hangover. When the urge to vomit occurs, the finished mixture should be taken 10 minutes after the last vomiting process.

The powder should be diluted correctly, otherwise a strong concentration of the substance will affect a patient who has been poisoned by alcohol, leading to hypernatremia - with signs of drowsiness, weakness, spasms of the respiratory system, clouding of consciousness.

A high concentration of the solution will cause headaches and impaired perception.

If such symptoms occur during a hangover, stop taking Regidron and go to a medical clinic.

Preventive measures: we make sure that Regidron is not needed

In order to exclude Regidron from your first aid kit once and for all, you need to know that dehydration occurs at the moment when the body stops receiving the required amount of fluid and is no longer able to carry out regular exchange.

This is facilitated by excessive vomiting, diarrhea, high fever, frequent urination or heavy sweating. All these ailments usually burst into life suddenly and ruin plans in the bud, removing a huge amount of fluid and electrolytes from the body in a matter of hours.

Taking all of the above, try to protect yourself from such a risk: do not forget about two liters of fluid that each person should drink during the day. If you are taking any diuretic antihistamines, increase the amount of fluid several times.

Overdose of the solution and what are the dangers?

When Regidron is diluted in an amount greater than normal, excess sodium appears in the blood, with a low fluid intake.
Therefore it arises:

  • excitability of muscle tissue;
  • confusion of consciousness;
  • weakness, drowsiness;
  • coma;
  • respiratory arrest;
  • acidosis, resulting in convulsions and impaired ventilation.

Treatment of an overdose with a solution is necessary in a medical hospital. Correction is carried out by intravenous infusion of various saline solutions.

How to store the prepared solution?

In order to avoid having to prepare the solution over and over again for several days, it must be stored correctly. In general, the maximum period for a homemade composition is two days, but you only need to keep it in the refrigerator, hidden from the tenacious hands of children. With pharmaceutical powder Regidron the situation is different: in a dry and dark place it can be suitable for use for as long as three years.

Regidron's analogs

Recipe for Regidron solution at home

There are several options for preparing a solution to restore electrolyte balance yourself if you do not have a pharmaceutical drug.

The simplest option can be done by yourself even while on a picnic or on a hike. To make a solution for dehydration, just dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt and sugar in a glass of warm boiled water.

The next option is much better and faster absorbed by the body, its composition is quite similar to the pharmacy one, so if you are severely dehydrated, it is better, if possible, to prepare it instead of the pharmacy Regidron.

To prepare you need:

  • 0.5 l. purified or boiled warm water;
  • 2 tbsp. spoons of sugar;
  • 1/4 teaspoon of soda;
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt.

Mix everything thoroughly until the crystals are completely dissolved.

The last recipe is almost identical to the previous one and is an excellent replacement for Regidron. You need to separately dissolve 1 tbsp. a spoonful of salt and sugar in a liter of water. Take every 10 minutes. take a sip of one and the other solution. You can also prepare a solution of soda and salts dissolved separately.

Impact on the body

It is quickly absorbed, fights intoxication, corrects energy balance, restores the acid-base environment, replenishes the level of electrolytes and fluids, and stops their further loss. Helps eliminate nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. Does not cause harm if instructions and dosage are followed. Does not affect the ability to drive vehicles.

Used in cases:

  • poisoning;
  • diarrhea;
  • poor metabolism;
  • excessive physical fatigue, heat stroke, accompanied by dehydration;
  • blood loss.

Features of therapy in children

The composition of rehydron, prepared with your own hands for children, does not differ from the solution for an adult. Sometimes for infants you can add a little more sugar to the solution or reduce the amount of salt.

The main instructions for a child when using home rehydron is to reduce the dose: 5 ml/kg will be quite enough. Rehydron prepared for infants should be given 1-2 teaspoons at a time. If it is difficult to give from a spoon, you can give the solution using a syringe; if you don’t have one, you can feed the child using a pipette.

Dehydration in a newborn is a very dangerous condition, so it is always advisable to have rehydron in the first aid kit, or its analogues. For infants and small children, rehydron can be replaced with specialized rehydration powders.

What should replace rehydron in children:

Hydrovit forte, Humana electrolyte with fennel, Regidron Bio, which contains lactobacilli.

What you need to know when treating with rehydron

Usually there are no allergic manifestations to the drug. However, side effects may occur. This may include convulsions, decreased muscle tone, and respiratory failure. If the patient develops similar symptoms, it is necessary to stop rehydration therapy.

It is better not to exceed the doses indicated above, as there is a risk of developing hypernatremia or hyperkalemia.

If a person has concomitant severe diseases, then treatment is best carried out at a hospital level.

If, when consuming any solution intended for dehydration, you experience drowsiness, slurred speech, high body temperature, cessation of urination, or blood in the stool, you should immediately consult a doctor.

Such symptoms indicate progression of the disease and insufficiently effective treatment. In such cases, only medical help will help.

Regidron is a drug that allows you to quickly restore fluid in the body, replenish the balance of necessary electrolytes and substances. Used for severe dehydration due to poisoning, frequent and heavy physical activity, and sports. A similar drug should be in every home medicine cabinet. The product is also recommended for regular use during frequent and high physical activity, overheating, and hyperhidrosis. Regidron has virtually no contraindications, so it can be prescribed to everyone without exception - adults, children, pregnant and lactating women.

pharmachologic effect

Regidron helps replenish the loss of those substances that the body has lost through stool and vomiting.

Potassium chloride has a diuretic property and helps remove toxins from the patient's body that cause diarrhea. This substance has a pronounced hydrating and detoxifying effect. It helps restore the acid-base environment, which is disturbed due to the loss of electrolytes.

The glucose present in Regidron helps replenish vital energy and has the ability to absorb salts and nitrates. In addition, this component accelerates the normalization of the acid-base balance in the patient’s body.

Drug interactions

The drug interactions of Regidron with other medications have not yet been fully studied. The solution has a slightly alkaline reaction, and therefore may reduce the effectiveness of those medications whose absorption is determined by the pH of the intestinal contents.

Bowel dysfunction itself can affect the absorption of drugs that are absorbed in the small or large intestine. In addition, loose stools may reduce the effectiveness of drugs whose metabolism involves intrarenal circulation.

Overdose

To accurately calculate the dosage, at the beginning of treatment, the patient is weighed, the degree of dehydration and weight loss are assessed.

Overdose occurs from the use of excessive quantities, high concentrations of substances.

Signs of overdose:

  • drowsiness;
  • confusion;
  • convulsions;
  • poor ventilation of the lungs, respiratory arrest;
  • increased body temperature;
  • muscle weakness.

Allergic reactions to the constituent components are possible.

If you notice such signs, consult a doctor immediately!

Terms and conditions of storage

At home, keep the product at room temperature in a place protected from sunlight. An unopened drug is usable for 24 months from the date of release.

You can buy the product at any pharmacy kiosk. The price for a package with 5 paired sachets ranges from 420–470 rubles.

What is it used for?

The main indication for the use of Regidron is considered to be such pathological conditions of the body that are accompanied by disruption of the digestive processes and the appearance of diarrhea and vomiting.
The instructions supplied with the drug indicate that the medication can be taken in the following situations:

  • increased sweating during high physical stress on the body;
  • intestinal infections;
  • intoxication of the body with various substances;
  • poisoning of varying complexity;
  • overheating or sunstroke;
  • dysbacteriosis;
  • irritable bowel syndrome;
  • loose stools accompanied by mild to moderate dehydration.

In case of complicated vomiting, it will not be possible to alleviate the patient’s condition with Regidron alone. In such a situation, emergency hospitalization is required to avoid complete dehydration.

Side effects

Typically, Regidron solution is well absorbed and does not cause side effects if taken in appropriate volumes for weight and age. The official instructions for this rehydration medicine do not contain precise recommendations for eliminating potential allergic reactions. Therefore, if you experience a skin rash or difficulty breathing, it is better to call an ambulance.

The following symptoms are indicated as side effects of Regidron:

  • The occurrence of an attack of vomiting due to too rapid and/or voluminous intake of the solution.
  • The appearance of symptoms of hypernatremia (with a significant increase in the dose of the drug).
  • Proposed modification of the action of drugs whose effects depend on the intestinal pH level.
  • Decreased absorption of nutrients.

Important! When any part of the intestine is infected, diarrhea itself provokes a decrease in the absorption of nutrients and other drugs in the intestine.

Similar drugs

In addition to rehydron, you can purchase at the pharmacy other drugs with similar composition, which are practically no different from the original:

  • "Normohydron";
  • "Orsol";
  • "Regidron Optim";
  • "Re-Sol";
  • "Electral".

Rehydron should always be in your home medicine cabinet , so that if unpredictable situations arise, you can quickly and easily use the powder and prepare a solution. If you don’t have the product at home, in case of emergency, use prescriptions and be sure to consult a doctor.

Which to choose?

Both industrial medications and homemade Regidron act in the same way. They provide indispensable assistance in case of poisoning, allowing you to quickly restore the water-salt balance. But there are still differences:

  • Pharmaceutical Rehydron has a pronounced effect in restoring lost salts, which cannot be achieved with a home remedy.
  • The industrial solution has clear instructions and dosage, which makes it possible to accurately calculate the volume of the drug and avoid overdose.
  • You can make Regidron at home by adding citrus juice or other fruit concentrates, which makes the child’s treatment easier. When preparing a pharmaceutical solution, adding unnecessary ingredients is prohibited.

It is up to the patient to decide whether a pharmacy or homemade salt drink is better. But you need to take into account that experts recommend using a homemade product for mild dehydration. In severe cases, the patient requires the help of specialists and the use of effective, proven medications that eliminate not only the severe symptoms of poisoning, but also the causes of fluid loss.

When to use

The indication for taking the drug is a disruption in the functioning of the digestive system due to the entry of toxins and pathogenic microorganisms into the body. Active proliferation of bacterial cells produces toxic compounds that irritate the gastric mucosa. Once in the blood, the poisons spread throughout the body, causing serious intoxication.

Taking the drug eliminates the effects of dehydration. Convenience of preparation, as well as ease of use, make Regidron a drug used as first aid in the presence of:

  • diarrhea due to an infectious disease;
  • poisoning from poor quality food;
  • diarrhea after excessive consumption of alcohol or pesticides;
  • disruption of the functioning of the digestive system, causing diarrhea;
  • metabolic problems;
  • diarrhea caused by an allergic reaction;
  • large blood loss due to injury or burn;
  • decreased production of endocrine glands.

The drug is recommended for use in acute respiratory viral infections, influenza or colds. Such pathologies are accompanied by dehydration against a background of elevated temperature, hypertension and heat stroke.

Drink plenty of fluids

Drinking plenty of even ordinary boiled water will help restore lost fluid to the body. This procedure is very important especially for children in the first year of life. If more than 10% of a child's weight is lost during diarrhea or vomiting, he dies. For a newborn baby, weighing, for example, 3.2 kg, the loss of just 300 g of fluid threatens the most dangerous deterioration of the condition and even death. So, even before the doctor arrives, give your child constant fluids. Even for an adult it is difficult to drink several glasses in a row. Large amounts of water can cause vomiting in a child. Try to give your child water, unsweetened chamomile tea (do not give juices, they will irritate the mucous membranes even more) every 5-10 minutes, at least a sip, but constantly. If the child drinks more liquid on his own, then this is also good.
