The described analgesic is a combination of 3 basic ingredients. Spasmalgon in ampoules and tablets contains identical components:

Spazmalgon consists of 3 components - metamizole sodium, pitofenone hydrochloride and fenpiverinium bromide. The complex action of these active ingredients achieves the effect of relieving muscle spasms. So:

1. Metamizole acts as an analgesic, antipyretic and, to a small extent, has an anti-inflammatory effect, primarily in relation to the smooth muscles of the genitourinary muscles.

Spazmalgon tablets contain 500 mg, 5 mg and 100 mcg of active ingredients, respectively. Additional elements are: gelatin, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, wheat starch, sodium bicarbonate, talc.

1. Inside the vein – helps relieve moderate pain. The number of appointments is limited to a couple per day, maintaining a time interval of about 8 hours. A single dose should not exceed 2 ml of Spazmalgon, which is administered smoothly at an approximate rate of 1 ml/minute.
2. Inside the muscle - up to 5 ml can be administered at intervals of 6-8 hours.

Can children take Spazmalgon? Yes, but according to an individual scheme. The calculation of the dose of injectable Spazmalgon is tied to the weight of the children:

• 5-8 kg – injection into muscles only is allowed, no more than 0.2 ml;
• 9-15 kg - approximately 0.2 ml into a vein or 0.2-0.3 into a muscle;
• 16-23 kg – up to 0.3 Spazmalgon ml intravenously, up to 0.4 ml intramuscularly;
• 24-30 kg – 0.4 ml by venous injection, 0.5 ml by muscular injection;
• 31-45 kg - about 0.6 ml intravenously, about 0.7 ml Spazmalgon intramuscularly.

Adults and adolescents over 15 years of age are allowed to take up to 6 tablets per day for 5 days. The daily dose is divided up to 3 times, 1-2 pieces each. For 7-8 year old children, it is recommended to take 0.5 tablets 3 times a day. Children 9-12 years old – 0.75 tablets. for 3 times. 13-15 years old – 1 pc. 2-3 times a day.

Spasmalgon in solution for injections is used by adult patients and children after reaching 15 years of age to relieve pain, 2-5 ml, but not more than 10 ml 2-3 times a day. A 6-hour interval between injections must be observed. If positive dynamics appear, injections are replaced by taking tablets.

The pain after taking the tablets is relieved within 20-40 minutes. The parenteral method gives a faster effect - up to 10 minutes. The maximum relief of a painful attack is ~ after 1.5 hours, then the effect decreases, and after ~ 8 hours it is completely eliminated.

The duration, regimen, and dosage of administration are determined by the doctor, depending on the type of pain individually for each patient.

Due to the ability to penetrate the placental barrier, the drug is contraindicated in pregnant women. The drug poses a particular risk of abnormalities in fetal development for pregnant women in the 1st trimester.

During the 3rd semester there is a possible risk of congenital defects of the visual, cardiac, and respiratory organs. An exception may be the 2nd trimester, when Spazmalgon can be taken, but only as prescribed and under the supervision of a doctor.

The drug is not recommended to be taken during lactation; If there is a special need to use this drug, you should temporarily stop feeding. The process can be restored no earlier than 2 days after the last dose of Spazmalgon.

For children

This antispasmodic drug (tablets) is contraindicated before 6 years of age. From 6 to 15 years of age, take it only in special cases as prescribed by a specialist. The dose of intramuscular administration depends on the child’s weight - at least 5 kg, age - no earlier than 3 months from birth.

Histamine H2 receptor blockers enhance the anticholinergic effect of the drug. Codeine also enhances the effect of the drug. It is not recommended to use Spazmalgon together with alcohol.

When treating urological and other diseases, it is necessary to take into account the compatibility of this drug with other drugs and a person’s individual intolerance.

Spazmalgon is incompatible with ethyl alcohol, and therefore with all medications containing it. Therefore, taking Spazmalgon together with other medications should be strictly monitored by a doctor.
