Mense for menopause: instructions for use, doctor's review, price

Hormone replacement therapy for menopause (HRT): pros and cons

Hormone replacement therapy for the relief of menopausal symptoms is used by specialists in many European countries, as it has been proven to be highly effective and safe.
But domestic gynecologists are afraid to alleviate menopause in women with the help of hormone replacement drugs, since they have an impressive list of side effects. But in the process of clinical observations, European doctors established a number of conditions to minimize the risk of side effects, namely:

  • timely prescription and withdrawal of hormonal drugs during menopause;
  • presence of indications for hormone therapy;
  • the use of microdoses of drugs that will not cause undesirable effects;
  • selection of drugs and its dosage, based on the results of a blood test for sex hormones;
  • prescribing medications that contain exclusively natural hormones;
  • strict adherence by the patient to the recommendations of the treating doctor.

But many patients still refuse hormonal medications for the following reasons:

  • consider the use of hormone therapy unnatural, since menopause is a physiological process;
  • do not want to take hormonal drugs because they consider them unnatural;
  • afraid to gain weight;
  • afraid of addiction;
  • are afraid of hair appearing in unwanted places;
  • think that hormonal drugs damage the gastric mucosa;
  • believe that taking drugs with sex hormones increases the risk of developing malignant tumors in the female body.

But these are all just prejudices, because by observing the conditions that we talked about earlier, you can avoid negative health consequences.

Thus, if the body does not have enough of its own sex hormones, then it needs foreign hormones, since hormonal imbalance leads to disruption of the functioning of all organs and systems.

If the patient does not follow the doctor’s recommendations or the dose of the drug was incorrectly selected, the following side effects may occur:

  • increased fatigue;
  • emotional lability;
  • swelling;
  • weight gain;
  • flatulence;
  • mastopathy;
  • breast tumors;
  • severe symptoms of premenstrual syndrome;
  • painful menstruation;
  • anovulatory menstrual cycle;
  • development of benign tumors in the uterus and appendages;
  • uterine bleeding;
  • increased risk of stroke.

Correct dose selection, strict adherence to specialist prescriptions, regularity of intake and combination of estrogens with

progesterone

avoids the above side effects.

The following conditions are absolute contraindications to hormonal drugs:

  • allergy to the components of the hormonal drug;
  • malignant neoplasms of the mammary glands and female genital organs, including a history of;
  • metrorrhagia;
  • thrombophilia;
  • stroke;
  • myocardial infarction;
  • varicose veins and blood clots in the veins of the lower extremities;
  • increased blood coagulation;
  • third stage hypertension;
  • severe liver diseases (cirrhosis, liver failure, hepatitis);
  • autoimmune diseases (scleroderma, systemic lupus erythematosus and others).

Relative contraindications include:

  • endometriosis;
  • uterine fibroids;
  • migraine;
  • epilepsy;
  • precancerous diseases of the uterus and mammary glands;
  • calculous cholecystitis and cholelithiasis.

The drug "Mense" - reviews of women and doctors

Among the obvious advantages that catch your eye when reading reviews of the dietary supplement “Mense” is that this drug is not hormonal and many women write that they trust its manufacturer, the Akvion company. The fact that it is inexpensive also deserves a positive rating among customers.

Women like the packaging of the product, which is especially attractive because it contains a lot of various information and everything is immediately clear. In addition to providing comprehensive information, it contains not only the capsules themselves, but also a large annotation written in accessible language regarding the correct use of the product. In addition, there is a small reference book in which the manufacturer reports on its other drugs intended for the proper functioning of the reproductive system not only for women, but also for men. All this, as patients write, only encourages the use of the drug “Mense” during menopause (according to women’s reviews).

The ladies also say that in the first week of taking the product they felt absolutely nothing. But it is noted that with the onset of the second week of therapy, they noticed that they began to fall asleep faster, and it turned out to be much easier to get up in the morning. Customers share that in the middle of the course they noted the absence of sweating and hot flashes. Towards the end of treatment, many also noted that their blood pressure stopped rising and fluctuating, and, in addition, they experienced the absence of painful migraines that tormented and bothered them before using Mense.

Women happily report that such positive changes in their well-being could not help but affect their mood, namely, it is emphasized that the world no longer seemed terrible to them, but life was lived. Customers also recommend it to those who have managed to get themselves into a premenopausal state ahead of schedule. This is confirmed by reviews of Mensa for women.

An additional often-cited advantage is that many women in menopause, due to the use of the product, began to grow hair and nails faster.

Consequences of menopause

From a hormonal point of view, menopause (menopause) is a decrease in the amount of estrogen hormones. They are produced in the ovaries, but are involved in the regulation of many life processes. Estrogen deficiency leads to disruptions in the functioning of a variety of systems and organs.

  • Metabolism worsens and slows down. A woman can gain weight, develop diabetes, etc.
  • Thermoregulation is disrupted: characteristic “hot flashes” appear.
  • Vascular tone decreases, diseases of the cardiovascular system develop, which can result in hypertension and palpitations.
  • The mental and emotional state is disrupted: the risk of developing depression and psychosis increases, and anxiety increases.
  • The functioning of the genitourinary system deteriorates.

Any of these manifestations can seriously worsen the quality of life and completely change the usual life for the worse. That's why women are increasingly trying to combat the symptoms of menopause.

Indications for use

Climaxan is prescribed as an effective remedy against symptoms in the pre- and post-menopausal periods, which are provoked by hormonal disorders.

Recommended for sleep disturbances ( insomnia ), anxiety, heavy sweating, as well as cardiac dysfunction and high blood pressure. Some doctors prescribe medicine for preventive purposes during the possible onset of menopause, in order to improve the condition of the body and prepare it for dramatic changes.

Instructions for the use of hormonal agents

Hormonal drugs are prescribed in the following situations:

  • pathological menopause, which developed as a result of removal of the uterus, taking chemotherapy drugs or radiation treatment;
  • menopause occurring in women under 40 years of age;
  • too pronounced signs of menopause;
  • the development of complications and diseases that appeared against the background of menopause (hypertension, atherosclerosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, dry vaginal mucosa, urinary incontinence and others);
  • the patient’s desire to eliminate unpleasant symptoms.

The choice of hormone therapy regimen, selection of the drug and its dosage should be handled exclusively by a gynecologist. Medicines are prescribed based on the results of a study of a woman’s hormonal levels, as well as taking into account her overall health status. Self-medication can lead to irreversible consequences!

Treatment for menopause begins when the first signs of a lack of sex hormones appear. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of menopause symptoms and can take from one to three years, and sometimes up to ten years.

Most experts believe that taking hormonal drugs should be stopped by the age of sixty, as cancer may develop.

Rules for taking hormonal drugs:

  • vaginal suppositories and tablets should be taken at the same time of day, as prescribed by the treating doctor.
  • basically all hormones are prescribed daily or cyclically, that is, 21 days with seven-day breaks;
  • if the patient forgot to take the drug, then the usual dose should be taken within the next 12 hours, and the next tablet at the appointed time;
  • It is strictly forbidden to change the dose of the drug or the drug itself;
  • You cannot take the hormone for life;
  • During hormone therapy, you need to regularly visit a gynecologist - once every six months.

What is menopause?

The climacteric period refers to age-related changes in the female body that occur against the background of the fading functionality of the reproductive organs, the cessation of childbearing ability and a noticeable decrease in the production of sex hormones estrogen.

It is the decrease in the secretion of female hormones estrogen that leads to the occurrence of the following unpleasant manifestations:

  • attacks of flushing of blood in the upper part of the body with a feeling of heat and the appearance of perspiration on the skin in the face, chest and neck;
  • disturbance of the psycho-emotional state, accompanied by sudden mood swings, increased irritability, tearfulness, and frequent depression;
  • the development of hyperhidrosis, that is, an increased level of sweating, which manifests itself in a more acute form at night, with increased physical activity or in a stressful situation;
  • decreased production of cervical mucus, resulting in a feeling of dryness, itching and burning in the vaginal area. This, in turn, negatively affects the quality of sexual life with a partner;
  • disturbances in the functioning of the genitourinary system, accompanied by the occurrence of urinary incontinence and its involuntary passage in small portions during sudden laughter, sneezing or coughing;
  • a decrease in the quality of memory, loss of the ability to remember the smallest details and the development of pathological changes in concentration.

Among the visual changes characteristic of the menopause are changes in the structure of the skin, characterized by loss of elasticity and the formation of deep wrinkles. Among other things, women during menopause are characterized by a rapid gain of extra pounds.

Many of the above symptoms themselves may simply disappear over time, but the intensity of their manifestation can be reduced by using special medications that do not contain synthetic hormones. One of the most effective remedies for menopause is the dietary supplement “Mense”.

It is important to note that the cessation of ovarian secretory functionality does not occur immediately, but continues over a long period of time: from 3 to 10 or more years.

If, even at the initial stages of the onset of menopause, the necessary measures are taken in a timely manner to eliminate the menopausal syndrome and strengthen the body, then menopause can be survived without any special health problems or the development of pathologies that threaten the future life of a mature lady.

Treatment for menopause

There are two ways to return your health to normal.

The first way is to eliminate the cause itself, that is, raise the level of estrogen with hormonal medications.

Hormone replacement therapy is a fairly effective way to cope with menopause. But taking hormones has significant disadvantages. For many diseases, hormones cannot be taken. Hormone therapy has complications, including decreased cognitive function and increased risk of neoplasms.

The second way is to reduce or eliminate unpleasant symptoms with supportive medications. Non-hormonal drugs are aimed at combating the symptoms of menopause. You should not expect them to instantly and completely eliminate all problems. As with most maintenance medications, the effect will be noticeable after a long course of use, and improvements will increase as the duration of use increases. In addition, non-hormonal drugs are safe, have a mild effect, and are sold without a prescription from a doctor.

According to statistics, women more often choose the second option, without resorting to hormonal drugs. Therefore, in the rating of remedies for menopause, we do not take into account hormonal drugs, since only a doctor should prescribe them.

What is the difference between non-hormonal medications for menopause? How do they compare?

We have selected ten of the most famous and best-selling products to support women during menopause:

  • QI-CLIM®
  • QI-CLIM® Alanine
  • ESTROVEL®

Homeopathic medicines (for example, Climaxan and Remens) are not taken into account in the rating.

Experts today have differing opinions about the advisability of hormone therapy. In addition, many women refuse to take hormone-containing drugs because they are afraid of their side effects, do not have the financial ability to constantly buy them, or for other reasons.

In such cases, you can use treatment for menopause without hormones, which consists of the use of phytohormones, homeopathic medicines, dietary supplements, etc.

Homeopathy for menopause is very popular. The effect of homeopathic remedies is based on the activation of the body’s natural mechanisms. Patients are prescribed small doses of substances that, in large doses, can lead to negative consequences.

  • menopausal vertigo (dizziness);
  • hot flashes during menopause;

Herbal preparations for menopause contain phytoestrogens - substances that can perform the function of female sex hormones and eliminate the symptoms of aging in the female body.

Today, the most effective and popular drug for menopause symptoms is Inoklim, which is a biological supplement based on phytoestrogens.

Inoclim effectively fights such menopausal symptoms as a feeling of heat in the body, vaginal dryness, increased sweating, and also prevents the development of complications.

The drug has virtually no contraindications or side effects. Inoclim is not prescribed only to those who are allergic to the substances that make up its composition.

Thus, we have looked at what medications to take during menopause to alleviate its symptoms. But drug therapy can and should be supplemented with proper and balanced nutrition, drinking enough fluids, playing sports, and taking vitamin and mineral complexes. Also, do not forget about the positive emotions that communication with loved ones, hobbies or handicrafts can give you.

Dosage

The instructions and recommendations of doctors when prescribing the dosage of the drug Climaxan are similar. During the day you need to take one tablet. Take no later than 25 minutes before meals. Combining food and pills is strictly prohibited .

Place the tablet under the tongue and dissolve completely. It is not recommended to swallow or chew it. If after a 2-week course the symptoms do not disappear, or perhaps intensify, you can increase the dosage to 3-4 tablets.

Doctors recommend using the product for 6 months to achieve maximum positive results . Also undergo a timely examination by a gynecologist during the course of treatment. If after a course of treatment the symptoms return after some time, you can take an additional course (only if there are no contraindications).

The regimen for taking the granulated product is also quite simple. White granules should be taken twice a day, 5 granules. The best thing to do is make a schedule. They should be taken in the same way as tablets, placed under the tongue. To prevent loss of effectiveness of the product, avoid chewing and swallowing whole. If the effectiveness of the drug is not observed, it is worth increasing the intake to 4 times a day. The course lasts 2-4 months, depending on the complexity and severity of symptoms.

The medicine can be taken with other drugs; no negative effects have been identified . But like any other sedative, Klimaxan can cause drowsiness, which should be taken into account by women who use a car.

Reviews about the drug Inoclim

On medical forums, many women, faced with an unpleasant problem called menopause, not only describe changes in their condition, but also share their impressions of the conservative treatment they received. Among the huge list of medications for menopause, you can also find reviews about the dietary supplement Inoclim, which, according to most comments, is highly effective and allows you to live without unbearable heat throughout the body. The patients are satisfied; moreover, they do not regret their purchase at all. Here are some positive notes on this topic:

I took one course and was very pleased with the results. The hot flashes, which constantly put me in an uncomfortable position at work, disappeared, and the nervousness disappeared.

— With Inoclim we managed to solve the sexual problems that my husband and I had during menopause. I thought goodbye to intimacy, but the dryness of the mucous membranes began to subside after a week of taking it.

— Inoklim acts on me as a strong sedative. I can sleep better at night and feel less nervous during the day at work. Other symptoms of menopause are also no longer bothersome as before.

Inoclim acts quickly and purposefully, eliminating the risk of side effects. Most patients with menopause are convinced of this. However, there are also opposite reviews, from the content of which it becomes obvious that the dietary supplement is not suitable for everyone. Some consider it a dummy that was simply advertised. In fact, we did not get the desired effect. There are much fewer such reviews in number.

Inoclim is a herbal preparation that is not an official medicine, but has an effective effect on the female body as menopause approaches. The action of the dietary supplement is harmless, but before proceeding to intensive therapy, it would not hurt to contact your local gynecologist and individually find out all the pitfalls of such a prescription.

Criteria for comparing drugs for menopause

Main components

In Russia, all non-hormonal drugs for the menopause period can be divided into two large groups: with phytoestrogens and with beta-alanine. Both substances are the basis of therapeutic treatment; attention should be paid to their presence and dosage first.

Phytoestrogens are natural compounds that behave in a manner similar to hormones, have similar elements in structure, but are not hormones. The effectiveness of soy isoflavones, black cohosh and red clover extracts has been proven. Phytoestrogens smooth out the severity of many manifestations of menopause and reduce the risk of late complications of menopause, but do not quickly relieve hot flashes. But when taken as a course, for example, soy isoflavones reduce the likelihood of hot flashes.

Beta-alanine acts differently; it affects the body’s thermoregulation and quickly eliminates hot flashes and also prevents their occurrence. Beta-alanine also improves memory and concentration. But it does not affect other menopausal symptoms.

Therefore, when compiling a rating, drugs with phytoestrogens receive 1, without it - 0. The same applies to products with beta-alanine: if it is included, the drug receives 1, without beta-alanine - 0

Additional components

Additional substances in non-hormonal medications for menopause will help provide comprehensive support to the body.

In addition to hot flashes, women are most concerned about palpitations, anxiety, mood swings, sleep disturbances and fatigue. It is not surprising that most additional components are aimed at combating precisely these problems. To reduce anxiety, menopause medications may contain soothing herbs - valerian and motherwort.

5-hydroxytryptophan will help normalize sleep. With hormonal changes, the need for vitamins changes, for example, more B vitamins are consumed, so B vitamins are often included in complexes for menopause. Additionally, vitamins and minerals may also be included to combat fatigue, maintain healthy skin, hair and nails, preserve youth and beauty.

We also take into account additional components in the rating. If a drug contains vitamins, minerals, herbal extracts or other additional components that help reduce the symptoms of menopause, then such a drug receives 1. If there are no additional components, then the drug receives 0.

Economical

Although they do not save on health, the price must be taken into account. Menopause can last 7-15 years. The unpleasant symptoms are especially acute during the first 2-3 years. Many women take non-hormonal drugs in regular courses and even continuously for several years. It is important to imagine whether it will be possible to take the drug for several weeks or months.

The table* shows the cost of the ten most popular drugs for women during menopause. The table shows the cost of not only the package, but also the monthly course, because the number of tablets or capsules in the packages is different. If the dosage of the drug is 1-2 tablets or capsules, then we take the minimum dosage.

We will take into account the cost-effectiveness of a monthly course as follows: 3 points – less than 400 rubles, 2 points – from 400 to 600 rubles, 1 point – cost above 600 rubles.

Plant estrogens in tablets

Taking phytoestrogens in concentrated preparations is an excellent alternative for women who cannot take hormonal medications. They do not instantly make you feel better, like synthetic hormones. But their effect is milder; they gradually accumulate in the body.

Popular non-hormonal tablets and dietary supplements based on phytoestrogens:

  • Klimalanin,
  • Tribestan,
  • Feminal,
  • Estrovel,
  • Femiwell,
  • Femicap.

Sedatives

  • Velaxin,
  • Velafax,
  • Poroxetine,
  • Profluzak,
  • Fluoxetine,
  • Ephevelon.

These drugs are often prescribed to treat depression.

Treatment with phytoestrogens is long-term; the obvious effect of its passage will not be pronounced.

To speed up results, it is better not to exceed the dosage of phytoestrogens. Taking too many of these drugs can be hazardous to your health. Medicines based on phytoestrogens are sold in pharmacies without a doctor's prescription. But their benefits and risks have not yet been fully studied.

Homeopathic medicines

Medicines in this group have their own characteristics, but they all trigger the natural functions of the body and protect the female body from the onset of osteoporosis and heart disease.

The most popular drugs are:

  • Klimadinon,
  • Klimaksan,
  • Klimakt-hel,
  • Lachesis,
  • Pulsatilla,
  • Remens,
  • Klimaktoplan.

All of them neutralize the symptoms of menopause and force the female body to independently cope with age-related changes.

Homeopathic remedies are taken only in minimal doses. You need to be careful when using these products. Homeopaths select a medicine that matches a person's physical symptoms and emotional state. During this treatment, it is unacceptable to drink alcohol, coffee, or strong tea. Spices are also excluded from the diet.

Peptide-based drugs

This is a new remedy that helps solve problems associated with menopause. Peptides restore the functioning of the ovaries and rejuvenate the body, fighting excess weight. Their main advantage is the absence of side effects.

Peptide-based preparations:

  • Zhenoluten,
  • Endoluten.

When the first signs of menopause appear, they help prevent the destruction of the body. You can start taking it from the age of 30.

The effect of peptides has not been fully studied. Therefore, it is not clear how they affect hormonal levels and whether they disrupt the normal functioning of the body.

Nootropic antihypertensive drugs

During the restructuring of the body that occurs during menopause, women often experience an increase in blood pressure. To lower it, it is useful to take antihypertensive tablets:

  • Captopril
  • Lisinopril
  • Perindopril
  • Ramipril
  • Quinapril
  • Fosinopril
  • Trandolapril

Lowers blood pressure, improves memory and mental activity

Vitamin complexes

Vitamins are taken in addition to medications.

Especially useful for women:

  • B vitamins;
  • ascorbic acid;
  • retinol;
  • tocopherol;
  • folic acid.

Vitamin complexes for menopause, which eliminate estrogen deficiency, improve immunity:

  • Hypotrilon,
  • Extravel,
  • Doppelhertz active Menopause,
  • Menopace,
  • Orthomol Femin,
  • Klimadinon Uno,
  • Qi-Clim.

Taking vitamins during menopause will improve health and help prolong youth.

Estrogens

Preparations that contain only estrogens are produced mainly in the form of gels, creams, patches or implants that are placed under a woman’s skin.

The most effective for menopause are the following gels and ointments with estrogens:

  • Divigel – 620 rubles;
  • Estrogel – 780 rubles;
  • Octodiol – the drug is not commercially available;
  • Menorest - the drug is not commercially available;
  • Proginova - 590 rubles.

Among estrogen patches, the following have performed well:

  • Estraderm - the drug is not commercially available;
  • Alora – 250 rubles;
  • Klimara – 1214 rubles;
  • Estramon – 5260 rubles;
  • Menostar.

Gels and ointments are quite convenient to use, since they only need to be applied once a day to the skin of the shoulders, abdomen or lower back.

Hormonal patches are an even more convenient dosage form because they need to be changed once every seven days.

Implants that are sewn under the skin last six months, releasing a small dose of estrogen into the blood every day.

Gels, ointments, creams, patches and implants have a number of advantages over oral or injectable forms of hormonal drugs, namely:

  • ease of dosage selection;
  • gradual penetration of estrogen into the blood;
  • the hormone enters directly into the blood without passing through the liver;
  • maintaining a balance of different types of estrogens;
  • minimal risk of side effects;
  • can be used even if there are contraindications to the use of estrogens.

Instructions for use

Mensa women are recommended to take 1-2 capsules per day, with meals. Standard course – 1 month. But if necessary, it can be repeated as many times as needed.

A woman is asked to determine the optimal daily dosage on her own:

  • for mild manifestations of menopause, 1 capsule of Mense per day is sufficient;
  • for moderate and severe manifestations, the dose should be increased to 2 capsules per day;
  • relief of the condition is a reason to reduce the dosage - it should be returned to 1 capsule per day.

Features of the drug use

Women use Inoclim during menopause for:

  • normalization of emotional and mental state, relief from depression, neurosis, insomnia, stress;
  • restoration of thermoregulation, reduction in the frequency and intensity of hot flashes;
  • prevention of migraines, muscle pain, discomfort in the lower abdomen and lumbar area;
  • stabilization of blood pressure, normalization of the vascular system;
  • maintaining an attractive appearance, slowing down the aging process.

Purposes, contraindications, side effects of Inoclim

The drug has the following indications for use:

  • elimination of negative signs upon the onset of menopause and menopause;
  • restoration of menstrual cycle disorders.

Inoclim also has a number of contraindications:

  • allergy to the active composition of the drug;
  • pregnancy;
  • breastfeeding period.

The medicine has virtually no side effects, but in rare cases allergic manifestations of various types may occur. This safety of the biological additive is due to the absence of hormones in the medication.

Isoflavones are analogues of estrogens

Soybean extract is the main active component of Inoclim, represented by isoflavones - genistein and daidzin. Isoflavones are plant compounds included in the category of phytoestrogens. In a woman’s body, they act similarly to estrogens - female hormones; they irritate estrogen receptors located in the brain, mammary glands, skeletal tissues, and vascular walls. In other words, isoflavones copy the action of sex hormones, and the body does not notice the hormonal changes and continues to work as before.

Thanks to their substitutive effect, isoflavones, instead of hormones, support the functioning of the heart muscle, vascular system, bone and muscle tissue, and prevent the development of atherosclerosis and osteoporosis.
