Etamsylate often forms the basis of medications used to stop bleeding. This substance affects the first stage of hemostasis, increasing platelet adhesion. As a result of using the drug, it is possible to quickly stop bleeding. However, Etamzilat cannot be used in all cases; analogues of the drug are the means of choice.
Dosage forms and composition
In pharmacies, Ditsinon is offered in 2 dosage forms:
- in the form of a solution for injection into muscles and veins;
- in the form of tablets for internal use.
Both dosage forms are based on ethamsylate. This is the active ingredient in Dicynon, which has a hemostatic effect. In the human body, ethamsylate normalizes capillary permeability, has a stimulating effect on the process of platelet formation, helps stop bleeding, and reduce bleeding.
Also, the composition of "Ditsinon" contains auxiliary components. The solution includes sodium disulfite, sodium bicarbonate, and water for injection. Excipients in the tablets are corn starch, lactose, anhydrous citric acid, povidone and magnesium stearate.
Before using a medicine, you must take into account its composition, because Dicynone’s side effects arise due to its components. A patient who knows that he has hypersensitivity to any of the above substances should tell his doctor everything.
Dicynon's analogs
On the territory of the Russian Federation there are synonyms of the drug containing this active substance.
Etamsylate, which is the main component, is represented by the drug of the same name. Analogs are also sold under different names, depending on the trademarks and registered brand names. The medicine is produced in Slovenia by the Lek company, its Russian analogue is Etamzilat or Etamzilat-Ferein. Pharmacies sell the following drugs based on the same active ingredient, which give a similar effect from the use of ethamsylate:
- Aglumin;
- Altador;
- Cyclonamine;
- Dicynone;
- Eselin;
- Etamsylate;
- Impedil.
Etamzilat, Etamzilat-Verein.
Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics
Etamsylate, which is the active ingredient in Dicynon, not only affects capillaries and platelet formation. It reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins. Because of them, by the way, platelet disaggregation occurs in the body, the lumen of blood vessels and capillary permeability increase.
The active component of the drug has almost no effect on the composition of peripheral blood, its lipoproteins and proteins. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate may only decrease. Also, ethamsylate does not cause constriction of blood vessels.
Pharmacokinetics depends on the dosage form. When the solution is used intravenously, the hemostatic effect of the drug begins to appear after about 5 minutes. The maximum effect occurs 1–2 hours after administration of the solution and lasts from 4 to 6 hours. Then the effect gradually weakens over the course of the day. When the drug is injected into the muscle, the hemostatic effect begins within 30–60 minutes. After taking a tablet dosage form, it takes time for the medicine to dissolve in the stomach, penetrate through the mucous membrane into the bloodstream and spread throughout the body.
The active substance "Dicinone" is slightly metabolized in the body. A large proportion of the drug (approximately 80% of the applied dose) is excreted unchanged by the kidneys. And here the question arises: does Dicinon provoke side effects in those people who have impaired liver and kidney function? It is impossible to give an unambiguous answer here, since there are no results of relevant studies.
pharmachologic effect
Etamsylate is a powerful hemostatic agent, improving the contact between the endothelium and platelets. It reduces capillary permeability and the synthesis of substances that destroy blood clots and dilate blood vessels. As a result, platelets adhere better to the vascular wall at the site of disruption, significantly reducing blood loss.
Dicynone is a hemostatic (hemostatic) agent that contains etamsylate. The active component has the following properties:
- Increases blood clotting.
- Stimulates the production of platelets and localizes them on the walls of blood vessels.
- Prolongs the viability of platelets and supports their vital activity.
- Makes capillary walls more elastic and stronger.
- Controls the circulation of fluid between body tissues and blood vessels.
- Reduces the fragility of the capillary mucosa.
In the first case, ethamsylate is combined with lactose. The active substances of the tablets are processed by the digestive tract and significantly help only after 4 to 5 hours from the moment of use. The effect of Dicynon tablets for heavy or prolonged periods lasts for 8 hours. The woman receives help for minor but potentially dangerous bleeding.
Injections containing etamsylate are given intravenously or intramuscularly. In the practice of intravenous injections, Dicinon begins to act within 10 minutes after entering the body. When administered intramuscularly, the result occurs later and reaches a maximum after 2 hours. But one injection will affect menstrual function for 6 hours.
Indications and contraindications
Some indications are common for solution and tablets:
- operations (tablets are used before and after them);
- hematuria – the presence of blood in the urine (deviation from the norm);
- metrorrhagia – the appearance of uterine bleeding not associated with menstruation;
- menorrhagia in women using intrauterine contraceptives, primary menorrhagia - menstrual dysfunction, manifested by heavy and prolonged bleeding;
- bleeding gums;
- nosebleeds.
Tablets can also be prescribed for vomiting blood, black semi-liquid stools, which in medicine is called melena. Additional indications for administration of the solution are intracranial hemorrhages occurring in newborns and premature infants, diabetic microangiopathy.
In order not to encounter the side effects of Dicynon, you need to use the drug not only if there are indications, but also in the absence of contraindications. General contraindications for tablets and solution are acute porphyria, hemoblastosis in children, thrombosis, thromboembolism, hypersensitivity to components. Additionally, the solution should not be used for bronchial asthma (with confirmed sensitivity to sodium sulfite). Additional contraindications for tablets are lactose intolerance, lactase deficiency, glucose/galactose malabsorption.
Dicynone description and instructions for use for dogs
Having a pet obliges the sensible owner to have a basic set of medications that may sometimes be needed to treat the pet. There are cases when it is necessary to act quickly, so it is necessary to create a set of medicines in the first aid kit and, if necessary, supplement them as the animal ages. Emergency medications include Dicynone.
Description of the drug "Ditsinon"
The drug "Ditsinon" belongs to the class of homostatic drugs. Its action is based on enhancing hemostasis. The drug increases platelet adhesion, but does not increase their number in the blood plasma.
Also, “Ditsinon” has a positive effect on the walls of blood vessels and capillaries, strengthening them. Due to these properties, bleeding time and volume of blood loss are significantly reduced.
The use of the drug is active both in medical practice in humans and in veterinary medicine.
Composition of the drug
The drug contains the active substance ethamsylate. Additionally, the composition of the dosage form (tablets) includes:
- Magnesium stearate.
- Lactose.
- Povidone K25.
- Anhydrous citric acid.
- Corn starch.
“Dition” in the form of an injection solution contains the active substance etamsylate and auxiliary components:
- Purified water.
- Sodium bicarbonate.
- Sodium disulfite.
Release form of the drug "Ditsinon"
Pharmaceutical companies produce the drug in two forms. Dicynon tablets are white and biconvex in shape. Available in two dosage types:
- 0.05 g (children's dosage).
- 0.25 g (adult dosage).
Cardboard packaging contains blisters. Only 100 tablets.
Indications for use
The drug is prescribed by a veterinarian for preventive and therapeutic purposes to prevent possible capillary bleeding. The drug can be used to treat dogs using various methods - orally, intramuscularly, or in the form of a compress moistened with an injection solution for external injuries.
The use of the drug in dogs is indicated for:
- Bleeding after any surgical interventions.
- Preventive measures to prevent bleeding after surgery.
- The presence of bleeding of internal organs.
- Consequences of trauma to internal organs.
- Childbirth.
- Heart attack.
Instructions for use of the drug in dogs
The drug is prescribed by a veterinarian if there are indications for use. The method of administration is selected depending on the complexity of the situation. Most often, Dicynone is taken in the form of intramuscular injections. When taking tablets orally, vomiting may occur, which, in the presence of internal bleeding, reduces the chances for the drug to have an effective effect.
The drug is administered intramuscularly; for this, the solution is drawn from the ampoule into a disposable syringe. The dosage of "Dicynon" for the treatment of four-legged animals is as follows:
Tablets are taken 1/4 2 times a day, with a dog weighing about 5 kg. For larger weights, the calculation is made from the norm of 1/2 tablet 1 time per day per 5 kg of dog weight.
Contraindications and side effects
If certain factors are present, the drug should not be used. In the presence of tumor diseases of the circulatory system and blood, “Ditsinon” is prohibited. Also, if your dog has problems with lactose or glucose intolerance, you should not administer the drug. Bleeding associated with taking medications such as Heparin and Dicinon is also prohibited.
Individuals who have been diagnosed with chronic kidney or liver diseases, have impaired thrombus formation, or have a tendency to thromboembolism should also not be administered the drug. A contraindication is also individual intolerance to the active substance of the drug or its auxiliary components.
If you follow the rules of administration and the correct dosage, the drug is well tolerated by dogs. In rare cases, individual intolerance and side effects may occur:
- Nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
- Fall in blood pressure.
- Dizziness.
- Possible manifestations of allergic reactions in the form of rash, swelling
- Redness of the skin or mucous membranes.
If there are adverse reactions, it is necessary to additionally consult with the treating veterinarian to discuss further treatment tactics for the animal.
Doses for adults
For the solution, the optimal daily dose is set to 10–20 mg per 1 kg of body weight. This volume of medication is usually divided into 3-4 doses. Specific doses have been established for some situations. For example, 1 hour before operations, for preventive purposes, doctors administer 250–500 mg of medication (1–2 ampoules) either intravenously or intramuscularly to their patients. During surgical interventions, the dose is repeated. The method of its administration is intravenous. After operations, patients are given 250–500 mg of the drug again every 4–6 hours. Stop using the solution after the risk of bleeding disappears.
A different method of using the solution has been established for the diagnosis of “diabetic microangiopathy”. In the presence of such a disease, Dicinon is administered retrobulbarly or subconjunctivally. The prescribed dose is half an ampoule.
The solid dosage form is prescribed:
- 1 hour before surgery – 1 or 2 tablets;
- after operations – 1 or 2 tablets every 4–6 hours;
- to stop any bleeding - 2 tablets every 8-12 hours with a small amount of water or with food.
Dicynon instructions for use
To obtain the drug, you will need a prescription in Latin, which is given to the pharmacist or pharmacist. Before you start taking it, carefully study the description in the instructions on how to take it, as well as the compatibility of the drug.
Tablets for menstruation, uterine bleeding
The product is very popular in gynecology. If menorrhagia and massive uterine bleeding occur, 1000 mg of dicinone per day is prescribed. The product is taken before meals and poured generously with water. Effectiveness is observed within 15 minutes.
During pregnancy
The product can also be used during pregnancy. As a rule, such a need arises in the case of placental and uterine bleeding. The average dosage of the drug is 500-750 (2-3 tablets) mg per day.
Dicinone in ampoules instructions for use, injections
Infusion therapy using dicinone has fundamental differences. Firstly, the drug is not compatible with other drugs, and, secondly, dextrans cannot be used at the same time. Intramuscular and intravenous injections are given. There are specific prescription instructions on how to drink and how much to take the drug to delay bleeding. On the first day, take 500-1000 mg/kg body weight or 2 ml of solution, which can be administered intramuscularly. The activity of the tablet (pharmacological agent) appears within 15 minutes.
The main task is to normalize blood counts and eliminate the pathological process.
Dicinon instructions for use injections for animals
In veterinary medicine, the drug is used to stop bleeding in animals. So, you need to draw 250-500 mg of the drug into the syringe, after which subcutaneous injections are made. The drug is also used to treat animals: for dogs, can be given to cats, for cats. It is also necessary to obtain a prescription in Latin if you need to take an antibiotic at the same time.
Use in childhood
Dicynone solution and tablets can be used in childhood if indicated. The recommended dosage is a 50% reduced dose for adults. It is important to take into account that the tablets are contraindicated for children under 3 years of age. From the age of 12, adolescents weighing more than 40 kg can be prescribed tablets in the same doses as adults.
The solution is allowed to be prescribed to newborn babies. Specifically for this category of patients, the recommended dose is 10 mg per 1 kg of weight. Therapy begins within the first 2 hours after birth. Then the administration of the medicine is repeated every 6 hours. Duration of treatment – 4 days.
Composition and action
The main substance in the composition is ethamsylate. It belongs to the group of hemostatic agents. The effect is due to the following:
- increases the rate of blood clot formation;
- stimulates platelet formation;
- increases the production of blood clotting factor III;
- reduces the permeability of the vascular wall;
- improves blood flow in capillaries.
Also, “Ditsinon” is able to increase the synthesis of mucopolysaccharides, which “close” gaps in damaged vessels.
Despite the fact that “Ditsinon” stimulates the formation of a blood clot at the site of vessel damage, the drug does not increase the likelihood of blood clots forming in the rest of the bloodstream.
Use for menstrual irregularities
It was already noted above that a hemostatic drug can be used for menorrhagia. Dicinon has a positive effect on women who have this problem. It shortens the duration of menstruation, i.e. normalizes menstrual function. The drug also eliminates metrorrhagia - bleeding that can be mistaken for menstruation, but in fact is not.
In the treatment of metro- and menorrhagia, any dosage form of “Dicynon” can be used. The solution is administered either intravenously or intramuscularly. A single dose is 250 mg. It is administered every 6–8 hours. The course of treatment is 5–10 days. Therapy with tablets is carried out for the same period of time. You need to drink 2 of them three times a day to normalize the menstrual cycle. "Dicinon" does not cause side effects associated with menstruation when used correctly.
Etamzilat – how to choose an analogue?
The choice of a drug with a similar mechanism of action should be made by a doctor. Only a specialist can choose the right drug. When there is a need to replace sodium etamsylate, drug analogues are selected taking into account the following nuances:
- the presence of pathologies with intensive formation of blood clots;
- blood composition at the time of treatment and medication replacement;
- blood properties (viscosity).
What is better - Dicynon or Etamzilat?
When answering this question, doctors note that both of these drugs are complete analogues. Dicynone - Etamsylate tablets. The mechanism of action of these drugs is identical and is due to the high rate of formation of the primary thrombus and the activation of thromboplastin synthesis. This component not only stops bleeding, but also strengthens the walls of blood vessels, reducing their permeability. The drugs do not contribute to the formation of blood clots and do not affect blood pressure.
What is better – Etamzilat or Tranexam?
Comparing these two drugs, it should be noted that Tranexam has a number of therapeutic effects. In addition to the hemostatic effect, it has the following effects on the body:
- anti-inflammatory;
- antiallergic;
- antitumor effect.
Due to these features, the list of pathologies for which Tranexam can be prescribed is more extensive. In addition, the drugs contain different active substances, which determines the method of their use: Tranexam is administered only intravenously. If it is necessary to use the medicine in tablets, doctors also prescribe Tranexam.
It is difficult to say definitively which drug is better. Much depends on the specific situation. For example, they try not to use Etamzilat during pregnancy or the threat of miscarriage, giving preference to Tranexam. It has a therapeutic effect faster, as it acts directly on plasminogen, which is involved in the blood clotting process.
Which is better - Etamzilat or Vikasol?
These two drugs have different mechanisms of action, which determines their properties. Vikasol affects the links of hemostasis, synthesizing prothrombin, and Etamzilat normalizes platelet activity, improving microcirculation and making capillary walls stronger. Vikasol is powerless for bleeding caused by diseases such as:
- hemophilia;
- Werlhof's disease;
- von Willebrand's disease.
Based on this, which medicine is best to use in a particular case should be determined by the doctor. Etamsylate is used more often for periods lasting more than 5 days: it helps strengthen the walls of blood vessels and reduce blood loss. A significant difference is the fact that Etamzilat, and not analogues, is more often used to stop acute arterial and venous bleeding.
What is important for pregnant and lactating women to know?
Not a single specialist will tell you what consequences or side effects “Ditsinon” can cause during pregnancy. There is no clinical information confirming the safety of the drug. But it is worth considering that various bleedings are manifestations of dangerous complications and conditions. They require emergency treatment. For this reason, Dicinon may be prescribed. The manufacturer allows the use of this hemostatic agent in cases where the expected benefit outweighs the potential risk.
Also, no studies have been conducted on the penetration of the active substance into breast milk. For breastfeeding women who have indications for the use of Dicynon, the issue of stopping breastfeeding for the period of treatment must be resolved.
Why does this dangerous phenomenon occur?
Uterine bleeding is vaginal discharge of blood that is not menstrual in nature.
The nature of this phenomenon is most often associated with gynecological diseases, complications of pregnancy and hormonal imbalance in the hypothalamus-pituitary-ovarian system with an increase in estrogen levels.
The following pathologies can provoke bleeding:
- infectious diseases (sepsis, influenza, measles);
- diseases of the reproductive system (endometriosis, hyperplasia, uterine fibroids, polyps, oncology);
- vaginal problems (vaginitis, cervicitis, traumatic injury);
- ovarian dysfunction (cysts, polycystic disease);
- non-gynecological diseases (hypertension, hypothyroidism, atherosclerosis);
- blood clotting disorder;
- liver pathologies.
Bleeding may result from taking certain medications that affect blood composition. A problem is discovered when carrying out hormonal therapy and using contraceptives.
Side effects
Using the drug in the form of a solution does not always bring positive results. Side effects often occur in children and adults due to Dicynon. The list of the most common unwanted consequences includes:
- heaviness in the epigastric region;
- nausea;
- skin rash;
- headache;
- increased fatigue.
A little less frequently, side effects from Dicynon occur, such as facial skin flushing, dizziness, thrombocytopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis, arthralgia, fever, paresthesia of the lower extremities, allergic reactions. Particular attention should be paid to the last undesirable effect. Allergic reactions can be provoked not only by the active substance of the drug, but also by the auxiliary components. For example, sodium sulfite can cause nausea, diarrhea, asthma attacks, anaphylactic shock, manifested by generalized itching, difficulty breathing, hypoxia, and convulsions. In case of side effects, "Ditsinon" is cancelled.
There is another undesirable consequence. When administered parenterally, the drug can significantly reduce blood pressure. This must be taken into account when treating patients suffering from hypotension.
Side effects
Other:
decreased tissue perfusion, which recovers on its own after a certain time.
In children treated with the drug to stop bleeding caused by myeloid and acute lymphatic leukemia, severe leukopenia was observed more often.
Contraindications
Contraindications include:
- hypersensitivity to the active substance – etamsylate;
- thromboembolism;
- thrombosis.
If a patient has hemorrhages caused by anticoagulants, it is unacceptable to use Etamzilat as the only remedy.
During pregnancy
The use of the drug during pregnancy is contraindicated.
If use cannot be avoided, the doctor must weigh the possible health benefits for the mother and the risks for the baby. Before starting therapy, breastfeeding must be stopped.

Reviews about "Dicynon", side effects
Experts speak positively about Ditsinon. In their opinion, the drug has several advantages. Firstly, it is available in 2 dosage forms. In some cases it is more correct to use a solution, and in others - tablets. Secondly, Dicinon is available in every pharmacy and is affordable. Thirdly, it effectively copes with various types of bleeding. Doctors also warn that this medicine can only be used as prescribed by a specialist.
Patients also very often praise the drug. In their reviews they talk about successful treatment. Some, with the help of Dicynon, restore normal menstrual function, others stop nosebleeds, and others recover in the postoperative period without encountering any problems.
Negative opinions among people are formed, as a rule, for the reason that the drug did not suit them. Patients in reviews of the side effects of Dicynon complain, for example, of a rash and abdominal pain. No one talks about a severe deterioration in well-being, because when the drug is discontinued, all side effects quickly disappear.
Contraindications
Dicynone should not be used in the following circumstances:
- porphyria in acute form;
- thrombosis and thromboembolism;
- allergic reaction to the main substance and auxiliary ingredients;
- hypertrophied sensitivity to sodium metabisulfite present in injection solutions;
- hemoblastoses, lymphocytic leukemia, myeloid leukemia, osteosarcoma;
- during lactation.
Extreme caution should be used when:
- lactase deficiency;
- glucose intolerance;
- glucose-galactose malabsorption syndrome.
No significant effects have been found during pregnancy, but etamsylate readily crosses the placenta and there is a risk of affecting fetal development. Taking this into account, it is not recommended to use Dicynon in the first trimester of pregnancy. The drug does not affect driving.
Description of the drug Dicinon
Dicynone as a medicinal drug in Russia and Ukraine is represented by its most common analogues, Etamzilat and Etamzilat-Ferein.

- cannot be used for glucose-lactose deficiency.
You should not take the medication if bleeding is caused by prolonged use of anticoagulants. For example, Fenindione, Warfarin or Heparin. In this case, the specialist will prescribe a course of treatment with antidotes.
Dicynone should be taken with caution and under constant medical supervision in case of thrombosis or thromboembolism, as well as increased blood clotting. You need to be careful when using the medication in patients with kidney or liver diseases.
Uterine bleeding is a dangerous symptom that requires immediate medical attention.
Uterine bleeding is all bleeding from the uterus that is not associated with menstruation (I call them acyclic). Uterine bleeding can also be considered a sharp increase in the amount of bleeding during menstruation (this is accompanied by the release of blood clots) and its duration.
The reasons for such a dangerous symptom can be varied:
- uterine fibroids;
- endometriosis;
- adenomyosis;
- hemosalpinx;
- benign formations of the uterus and appendages;
- malignant neoplasms of the uterus and appendages;
- complications of pregnancy and childbirth;
- blood clotting disorders, including disseminated intravascular coagulation syndrome;
- progressive thrombocytopenia;
- hormonal disorders;
- taking medications and others.
Dicinon - first aid for uterine bleeding
Dicynone is a hemostatic drug (hemostatic), which is most often used to stop bleeding, widely used not only in gynecology, but also in other areas of medicine. It prevents the fragility of capillaries, reduces their permeability, helps improve blood flow in them, clots blood in places of vascular damage (this occurs due to a sharp decrease in the production of biologically active substances - prostaglandins, which prevent platelets from sticking together in the bloodstream), without causing thrombus formation.
The effect of the drug when administered intravenously is observed after ten to fifteen minutes, when administered intramuscularly - after half an hour, when taking the tablet form - after an hour and a half.
In addition to uterine bleeding, it will be necessary for:
- treatment of bleeding after surgery;
- treatment of bleeding of various etiologies;
- treatment of microangiopathies in diabetes mellitus.
Price
- If we talk about the cost of the original drug produced in Slovenia, Ditsinon in a network of pharmacy outlets will cost from 35 rubles per pack of tablets, packaged in 50 pieces of the latter.
- The cost of a package of 10 ampoules with a solution for injections can start from 110 rubles and above.
- However, many pharmacy outlets sell the drug individually - accordingly, one ampoule will cost from 11 rubles and more.
- The cost of the most common analogue of the drug Dicinone in Russia - Etamzilat with a quantity of 50 pieces - from 50 rubles.
- A similar situation is with the injection solution Etamzilat - the cost of packaging the solution varies from 40 to 100 rubles. It is also possible to purchase it individually - much is determined by which pharmacy the drug is purchased from and whether it sells ampoules individually.
Pharmacological properties
As a rule, the drug is used when it is necessary to urgently stop bleeding. However, it has not only hemostatic properties. When used correctly, Dicinon strengthens the vascular wall, prevents capillary fragility, and improves blood circulation in small vessels.
The active substance of the drug promotes the rapid maturation and release of platelets from the bone marrow. This helps stop bleeding as soon as possible. An additional property of ethamsylate is the ability to constrict blood vessels, which also accelerates the hemostatic effect.
A special feature of the drug is that it does not increase blood clot formation and does not increase blood pressure. That is why it is allowed to take Dicinon during heavy periods. After oral administration, the therapeutic effect develops within 2-3 hours and lasts up to 7 hours. After this, the effect of the medicine gradually decreases throughout the day.
After intramuscular administration, the drug begins to act within 60-90 minutes. Intravenous administration will help provide a quick therapeutic effect in 15 minutes . If a patient undergoes a course of therapy with Dicynon, the effect of the drug is observed for a week after its discontinuation.
The drug is almost completely absorbed from the digestive system after oral administration.
According to research, the active component penetrates the placental barrier. There is no data on penetration into breast milk. The drug is eliminated through the urinary system.
The effect of the drug on the menstrual cycle
Dicinone is a hemostatic agent that stops bleeding. This drug is available in tablet form and ampoules. The active substance in the medicine is ethamsylate. He helps:
- Increase blood clotting.
- Stimulates bone marrow function. Due to this, platelet formation occurs.
- Etamsylate (active substance) causes a hemostatic effect.
- Normalizes fluid circulation between vessels and tissues.
- The walls of the capillaries become elastic and strengthened.
- Increases platelet activity.
All these factors influence the course of menstruation. There are several ways to change the course of the menstrual cycle. Since with the beginning of the menstrual cycle, the destruction of the vessels of the replaced layer of the uterine mucosa begins. And then releasing blood from them.
Dicinone increases platelet activity
How is it transferred
Even if you follow all the recommendations on how to drink Dicinon correctly or administer it in the form of injections, the following side effects are possible:
- headache, dizziness;
- feeling of numbness in some part of the body;
- nausea;
- increased heartburn;
- heaviness in the stomach;
- allergic reactions;
- decreased blood pressure;
- temporary redness of the face.
Cases of overdose on the medicine have not been described, but you should follow the prescribed dosage of “Dicynon” in tablets and do not give additional injections without a doctor’s prescription.
Summing up
The drug Dicinon, despite its effectiveness, is relatively inexpensive, since its average cost is 400 rubles per package. The product is produced by several manufacturers, so the cost may vary. The medication must be stored strictly in a dark place where access is excluded for children. Storage temperature ranges from +15 to +25 degrees. After manufacturing, the shelf life of the medicine is 5 years.
In conclusion, it is worth noting that Dicynon has analogues, such as Tobarpin, Lagoden, Revolad and Etamzilat. They can be used both as a replacement for Dicynone and in combination with it, but at the same time, not forgetting about an overdose.

The drug has contraindications that make its use impossible. Doctors include the following limitations of the drug:
- individual intolerance to the components included in the drug;
- the presence of oncological processes in the circulatory system;
- increased blood viscosity;
The drug is not recommended for breastfeeding women
- the presence of diseases affecting the cardiovascular system;
- breastfeeding or pregnancy, if the risk outweighs the benefit;
- the presence of thrombosis or thromboembolism.
If there are contraindications, you need to choose a different medication. Otherwise, you will have to face a number of side effects. When using Dicynon, you should periodically visit a doctor for a gynecological examination. This will prevent the formation of complications.
Compatibility of Dicinone and alcohol
Alcohol-containing drinks, even without combination with medications, are harmful to health. But if the patient drinks alcohol during therapy, then the consequences can be very different. The fact is that during interaction, a disruption of the normal functioning of the cardiovascular system occurs. There is also a sharp drop in blood pressure. It can either rise or fall sharply.
When combining Dicynon and beer or any other alcoholic drink, the following side effects may occur:
- heartburn;
- diarrhea;
- abdominal pain;
- increased blood pressure;
- allergic reactions;
- swelling;
- numbness of the limbs;
- redness of the facial skin;
- nausea;
- vomit.
INTERESTING fact: Can you drink alcohol while taking vitamins?
It is even known that during such compatibility, the functioning of the liver, which is responsible for the timely cleansing of the body from drug components, significantly deteriorates. If cleaning is not carried out in time, then intoxication of the body occurs and poisoning occurs. Ultimately, if medical care is not provided to the patient in a timely manner, death may occur.
So, is it possible to drink alcohol and Dicynon? The doctors answer is strictly negative. They prohibit the joint consumption of alcoholic beverages and medication. But if this happens and the patient notices the first symptoms of a negative effect, then it is recommended:

Indications for use
For prevention and complex therapy, Dicinon is used in gynecology for uterine bleeding that occurs in the following circumstances:
- postmenopausal period;
- hematuria;
- excessive blood loss during menstruation during puberty;
- infections and inflammation of the genital organs;
- surgical intervention;
- the presence of benign and malignant neoplasms;
- presence or removal of an intrauterine device;
- cervical cancer;
- Wergolf's disease;
- thrombocytopathy;
- von Willerbrand syndrome;
- injuries.
The drug does not eliminate the cause of dysfunction, but acts only symptomatically. Therefore, Dicinon for uterine bleeding is prescribed only after the cause of dysfunction has been clarified. It only helps with damage to small vessels of the uterine mucosa. If the pathology is associated with a violation of the integrity of the arteries, then the drug is not used. The drug is ineffective for heavy uterine blood loss in the postpartum period.
To clarify the cause of bleeding, doctors prescribe the patient to undergo diagnostic measures, including examination, clinical blood tests to determine the presence of inflammation, hormonal levels and the degree of blood clotting, and ultrasound of the pelvic organs.
Pregnant women are allowed to use the drug only in cases of urgent need, when its benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk of complications in the fetus. If Dicinon is prescribed for breastfeeding, the question of transferring the baby to artificial formula is raised. This feature in the indications is due to the lack of clinical studies.
When can you drink?
Every patient should know that alcohol after Dicinon can be taken no earlier than 15 days later. It is during this period of time that the medicine is completely eliminated from the body. If the tablet or ointment was used once and not as a course, then male patients are advised to drink alcohol no earlier than 12 hours later, and female patients no earlier than 20 hours later.

In addition, during treatment, the patient must strictly adhere to all dosages prescribed by the doctor. Otherwise, an overdose may occur, and the consequences will appear similar to those when combined with alcohol.

Effect on the body
- The drug is classified as a hemostatic drug and allows you to significantly increase blood clotting and capillary stability, increasing their permeability when diagnosing a pathological condition.
- The drug also stimulates blood clotting level III in the body, normalizing platelet adhesion. This is achieved due to the action of the main active substance ethamsylate - due to its action, the blood decreases significantly or completely stops.
- When small vessels are damaged, it forms thromboplasts, which trigger the blood clotting process itself.
- The drug acts on the principle of a catalyst - it increases the number of mucopolysaccharides, which have a positive effect on the condition of the vascular network, capillary walls and the blood circulation process itself. About 70% of the components of the drug are excreted in the urine in the first day.
How to use the drug?
Only a gynecologist determines how to take Dicinon during heavy periods. This may be one of the following options:
- orally;
- intramuscularly;
- intravenous administration;
- local application using a moistened swab or bandage.
For medicinal purposes, it is advisable to take the drug in the form of tablets, and in emergency situations - injections, but under medical supervision.
General rules
When using the drug with etamsylate, the following should be considered:
- Dicinone can be taken during menstruation and before it begins.
- Any treatment period should not last more than 10 days.
- The drug is prescribed on an individual basis.
- The optimal dosage is 10 to 20 mg per kilogram of human weight.
- The pills must be taken either during meals or immediately after a meal, with plenty of liquid.
- If any side effects occur, treatment should be stopped immediately.
The effectiveness of the drug appears within a few hours (tablets) and 15 minutes after the injection. Complete cleansing of the body after discontinuation of the drug is observed one day after administration. The therapeutic effect after therapy lasts about seven days.
Heavy, prolonged periods
Prolonged menstruation (more than a week) due to heavy blood loss requires immediate treatment to prevent anemia. In this case, the specialist prescribes the patient a daily dose of 750 mg (three pills), which must be taken in the morning, lunch and evening.
Therapy should continue until bleeding has completely stopped. If the situation does not stabilize within 10 days, you should immediately visit a medical facility. The doctor will conduct a quick examination, prescribe supportive therapy or provide emergency assistance.
Prevention
According to reviews, Dicinone is most often used during menstruation when there is an increased amount of monthly bleeding. With this treatment, the doctor determines in advance the presence of severe blood loss during critical days, and postpones therapy until the end of the cycle. Reception regimen:
- One pill three times a day (approximate dose - up to 1000 mg).
- The course begins 5 days before the expected discharge.
- The end of prophylaxis is on the fifth day of the next cycle (fifth day of menstruation).
- Repeat the scheme – one or two months.
The effectiveness of the course will largely depend on the original source of the problem. If heavy discharge is caused by pathologies of the reproductive system, hormonal disorders, then the drug Dicinon will only remove the symptoms for a while. Therefore, before starting treatment, it will not hurt to undergo a full examination.
Normal long periods
Dicinone for stopping menstruation (long-term), which were in the normal daily volume, is taken one tablet per day. Negative symptoms should disappear within a few days. In this case, you also cannot exceed the maximum course of treatment, which is ten days.
Severe blood loss in the first days
Some women suffer from significant discharge at the very beginning of the cycle. Against the background of such a problem, it is advisable to start using Dicinon during the third day of menstrual bleeding. A woman needs no more than 250 mg of ethamsylate per day. The average duration of therapy is 5 days.
To delay menstruation with Dicinone
It is allowed to use Dicinon to delay menstruation, but doctors advise against resorting to this method of delay. After such an experiment, there is a risk of a malfunction that will negatively affect the entire menstrual cycle.
To delay menstruation, a daily dosage of 500 mg is enough. It is safest not to exceed the duration of use beyond 5 days. The longer a woman uses the drug to delay discharge, the greater the risk of side effects and serious problems increases.
For uterine bleeding
For almost instant results, use the following solution:
- intramuscular or intravenous injection;
- the daily dose is from 750 to 2000 mg (extreme case);
- the bleeding should stop within a quarter of an hour.
Storage conditions and shelf life
Etamsylate must be stored in a dry place, protected from children and animals, at a temperature of no more than +24ºC.
The shelf life of the drug is 3 years from the date of manufacture. Used or expired tablets and ampoules are disposed of along with household waste. Responsible and loving pet owners must have a first aid kit with a set of various products and medications that may be needed to help their pet. Properly selected drugs in the kit help not only alleviate the animal’s condition, but also often save its life. The drug “Etamzilat” for cats and dogs is one of those emergency medications that are used to stabilize the pet’s condition until the veterinarian arrives.
"Etamzilat" is a hemostatic drug. The action of Etamzilat is based on enhancing hemostat. The hemostatic effect is based on stimulating the formation of thromboplastin at the site of injury. At the same time, the drug does not increase the number of platelets in the blood plasma, due to which it does not provoke the appearance of blood clots.
"Etamzilat" tablets
With the help of Etamzilate, the synthesis of mucopolysaccharides in capillary tissues is enhanced. This helps strengthen blood vessels, improves their resistance to mechanical stress and the circulation of nutrients. Due to the properties inherent in the product, the volume and duration of bleeding is significantly reduced. This often plays a decisive role in cases of serious injuries accompanied by large blood loss.
You can purchase the product in tablets and in liquid form for intramuscular administration. In addition to the name “Etamzilat”, used internationally, the drug is known in the CIS countries as “Ditsinon”. Both products have identical composition and effects.
