Adenomyosis of the uterus - definition. Adenomyosis of the uterus: treatment with folk remedies, reviews

Advantages

Why is it worth using traditional treatment? What advantages does this therapy have over drug therapy?

  1. Traditional recipes contain substances that have a similar effect to synthetic and natural hormones, suppressing the production of estrogen;
  2. Drugs of this type have a much less negative impact on the body than medications (primarily, less stress on the kidneys, liver, etc.);
  3. These drugs may be an alternative when there are contraindications to the use of industrial medications;
  4. Such recipes can be used in cases where the symptoms are mild, when the disease itself is not too developed, or when the doctor does not prescribe any other treatment for one reason or another;
  5. Such methods are good as additional ones, as they help increase the effectiveness of drug therapy.

Despite the fact that most of these methods are safe, it is better to consult a doctor before using them, since treatment with folk remedies for uterine adenomyosis may also have contraindications, and is not allowed for everyone.

Dietary supplements and homeopathy

For many people, it seems difficult to independently prepare decoctions or infusions from medicinal plants. Therefore, they prefer homeopathy or dietary supplements. They also contain phytocomponents, but in combination with vitamins and microelements.

Such remedies are not welcomed by gynecologists, since there is no reliable information about their effectiveness.

They recommend official pharmaceutical medications – for example, “Yarina” for adenomyosis. However, many women who have already completed courses of therapy with homeopathic medicines have managed to convince themselves that the disease can be quite successfully eliminated after several courses of taking capsules with thuja extract or black cohosh rhizome, Actaea racemosa or ammonium nictrium.

Each such remedy should be recommended directly by a specialist - after preliminary diagnostic procedures that are required to establish the full clinical picture of adenomyosis in a woman. Indeed, despite the minimal amount of herbal components in dietary supplement capsules, they can also become the root cause of certain complications.

Flaws

The main disadvantage of this approach to therapy is the extremely low effectiveness of the drugs compared to pharmaceutical products prescribed by a doctor. Such treatment, even if it brings results as monotherapy, will only be expressed in a decrease in the severity of symptoms. The disease itself will most likely not be cured. Most likely, it will simply become chronic.

The second disadvantage of this therapy is its slow action. Even a reduction in symptoms will occur much later than with medication treatment (if at all). Thus, it is recommended to use such drugs only in cases where adenomyosis does not significantly bother the patient. Or only as an addition to the main therapy (after consultation with the doctor).

It is worth considering that herbs themselves are strong allergens with cumulative effects. Therefore, in people prone to allergies, they can cause an allergic reaction immediately or over time. In this case, you should stop taking the drug immediately and consult a doctor to prescribe symptomatic treatment for the reaction.

Important aspects of treating adenomyosis

Internal endometriosis is accompanied by damage to the uterus. With the development of pathology in the submucosal, muscular and serous layers of the organ, heterotopias are formed - foci of cells similar to endometrial cells. They obey the cyclical processes occurring in a woman’s body. Before menstruation, heterotopias increase in size. During menstruation, microscopic hemorrhages develop, but the released blood remains inside the organ. Aseptic inflammation is formed, which determines the symptoms of the disease:

  • Menstrual irregularities. There are heavy and prolonged periods, perimenstrual discharge (1-2 days before and after menstruation),
  • Chronic pain syndrome. At first, pain appears only during menstruation. As the process progresses, pain becomes a constant companion of a woman.

Adenomyosis is characterized by the growth of endometrial cells into the muscular layer of the uterus.

Without treatment, adenomyosis leads to uterine bleeding and infertility. If a child is successfully conceived, pregnancy due to pathology proceeds with complications and often ends in spontaneous miscarriage.

Adenomyosis is a pathology that develops under the influence of sex hormones. To suppress the growth of lesions, hormonal agents are used:

  • Gonadotropin-releasing hormone agonists,
  • Combined oral contraceptives,
  • Progesterone preparations (gestagens),
  • Progesterone receptor modulators.

The goal of hormonal therapy is to achieve regression of endometriosis lesions or at least reduce their size. During treatment, pain disappears, the menstrual cycle normalizes, and the risk of complications decreases. The chances of conceiving and bearing a child increase.

It is important to know

Only hormonal drugs affect the mechanisms of disease development. Other drugs relieve symptoms, but do not change the size of foci of adenomyosis.

Disadvantages of hormone therapy:

  • Temporary effect: after discontinuation of the drug, the disease returns,
  • Cause side effects and are not always well tolerated,
  • They have a large number of contraindications,
  • They require medical supervision and regular examinations by a gynecologist.

In addition to hormonal drugs, surgical treatment is prescribed. The operation is performed mainly at an age close to menopause. For diffuse forms of pathology, endometrial ablation, resection of the muscular layer, and removal of the uterus are practiced. Adenomyotic nodes can be removed during laparoscopy. However, during reproductive age, the use of surgical methods is limited, and priority is given to hormonal therapy.

Both hormonal therapy and surgical treatment can be used to treat adenomyosis.

Contraindications

Traditional methods of treatment have contraindications, however, they are specific to different types of recipes, depending on the components used. General contraindications in this case are as follows:

  • Individual intolerance, hypersensitivity or allergy to the components of the composition;
  • Prescriptions containing alcohol are not recommended for use by people suffering from alcoholism or being treated for it;
  • Douching cannot always be done when the vagina and cervix are affected, and in this case tampons cannot always be used;
  • Recipes using propolis and honey cannot be used by patients who are allergic to any bee products;
  • Hirudotherapy is contraindicated in cases of oncology, poor blood clotting, and a tendency to form scars.

Even if there are no obvious contraindications to the use of a particular method, it is recommended to coordinate its use with a specialist.

What is not recommended to take?

Some activities will be very harmful for adenomyosis. Here are the direct contraindications:

  • A massage performed by an illiterate master. A competent massage in this case will help normalize blood circulation, improve the functioning of the genital organs, and relieve discomfort. All these improvements will be noticeable only after a session conducted by a specialist. In other situations, the effect will be the opposite of the desired one.
  • Thermal impact . Staying in the sun for a long time, taking hot baths, visiting saunas - all this will harm the sick person.
  • Self-medication without consulting a doctor . Under no circumstances should you take medications or folk remedies unless you have received the approval of your gynecologist. By doing the opposite, you can bring the situation to a disastrous outcome.
