Decaris: pharmacological action and effectiveness

Decaris indications for use

Decaris has a fairly wide range of uses. Decaris is often prescribed after resection for colon cancer, for malignant neoplasms of the bronchi and mammary glands. The drug is included in complex therapy in remission of lymphogranulomatosis; it is also taken at intervals of cytostatic treatment of leukemia and lymphogranulomatosis.

As an immunomodulator, the drug is prescribed for autoimmune diseases such as arthritis, Crohn's disease, recurrent aphthous stomatitis, and Reiter's disease. In cases of mild lupus erythematosus, Decaris is prescribed to maintain remission.

The drug is highly effective in the fight against chronic lung diseases, it also works in the case of chronic glomerulonephritis, chronic pyelonephritis, it is prescribed for stomach and duodenal ulcers - it helps prevent relapses in these diseases.

Decaris is prescribed for infectious diseases, such as herpes simplex, in relapse, herpes zoster, warts, chronic active hepatitis B. It is included in complex therapy for persistent viral hepatitis, especially if the surface antigen of the virus has been present for the last 3 months hepatitis B. The drug is also used in case of relapse of sinusitis.

However, most often the drug is prescribed in case of helminth infection.

  • Ascariasis: intestinal invasion from the group of nematodes, the causative agent of this disease is roundworms that parasitize the small intestine;
  • Enterobiasis: this disease most often occurs in children of preschool and primary school age, it is often called the disease of “dirty hands”, it is caused by small parasitic white worms - pinworms;
  • Trichocephalosis: a fairly common disease, it is caused by protocavitary (round) worms that parasitize the gastrointestinal tract, the causative agent of this disease is the whipworm;
  • Hookworm: today this disease is not so common, but cases of infection still occur; this disease is caused by roundworms of the genus hookworm;
  • Necatoriasis: this disease is characterized by dyspeptic symptoms, signs of allergies and the development of hypochromic anemia; it is caused by the necatoria parasite;
  • Toxoplasmosis: this disease is mostly asymptomatic, the source of infection is domestic and wild animals (cats, dogs, rodents), the causative agent is toxoplasma;
  • Strongyloidiasis: this disease is chronic, caused by a filamentous nematode - intestinal eel, and is characterized by various manifestations of gastrointestinal pathology;
  • Trichostrongylosis: a chronic disease that mainly affects the small intestine, in severe cases it manifests itself as hypochromic anemia, the causative agent of this disease is a nematode.

Possible consequences of combination

When Decaris interacts with alcohol, the likelihood of developing side effects inherent in the drug significantly increases. The number of side effects after the combined use of the presented components includes the following:

  • effects on the senses and central nervous system. Lethargy develops, taste preferences and sensitivity to different odors change. Speech problems arise and consciousness is clouded. You may experience rapid fatigue, accompanied by headaches, and the limbs are affected by cramps or tremors. The development of encephalitis-like syndrome is possible;
  • influence on the gastrointestinal tract.

    Ulcers form in the mouth. There is a feeling of nausea and vomiting, stool is disturbed, and there is pain in the abdominal area. If you continue to combine Decaris with alcoholic drinks for a long time, then there is a possibility of developing pancreatitis;

  • effects on the hematopoietic and cardiovascular systems. Leukopenia and agranulocytosis may develop. In the absence of timely medical care, the latter disease leads to death;
  • allergy. An exfoliative form of dermatitis develops (affects more than 90% of the skin), urticaria;
  • other side effects. This group of side effects includes the development of uterine bleeding, periorbital edema (localized in the eye area), liver and kidney damage, and increased alkaline phosphatase activity.

When the drug and alcohol are used together, significant heart problems can occur, since both components damage the heart muscle, which causes severe illness and can even be fatal. During runtime

X-ray in people who abuse alcoholic beverages in combination with the described medication, an increase in heart volume is observed. A long-term combination of Decaris with alcohol provokes the occurrence of hypertensive or coronary heart disease, which is often recognized as the main cause of heart attack. In addition to the presented disorders, problems with the immune system may also develop. Strong drinks negatively affect the human immune system, causing interruptions in hematopoietic processes, decreased synthesis of lymphocytes, and the possibility of developing an allergic reaction.

The combination of Decaris and alcoholic products also affects the gonads. Males often suffer from “alcoholic impotence,” which entails various functional disorders of the central nervous system (nervous and depressive states). In women, due to the described interaction, interruptions in the menstrual cycle may occur and the ability to bear children is reduced. These negative consequences can be prevented if the drug is used strictly according to the instructions, which state that Dekaris cannot be combined with alcoholic beverages.

In addition, doctors note that it is prohibited to use medications that contain alcohol together with Dekaris, since this will either provoke the development of side effects or significantly reduce the effectiveness of the drug against helminthic infestations.

If a combination of Decaris and alcohol occurs by chance, then the first thing to do is call your doctor. Most likely, it will calm the patient, since a one-time combination of alcohol and anthelmintic drug is not capable of having a negative effect on the patient’s body, but this is only provided that the alcohol was consumed in an acceptable dosage. If you drink a lot of alcohol and use Decaris, even a single combination can cause death or serious poisoning.

Analogs

  • Vermox. Its spectrum of action is wide; it is used to treat not only enterobiasis, ascariasis, but also trichinosis, taeniasis, echinococcosis, alveococcosis and other variants of mixed helminthiasis. The main active ingredient is Mebendazole, and the cost is in the range of 100-150 rubles.
  • Pirantel. It is the cheapest analogue of Dekaris. The main active ingredient is Pyrantel. It is capable of destroying hookworm, enterobiasis and ascariasis in the body. A distinctive feature of Pirantel, unlike Dekaris, is the possibility of use not only in tablets, but also in syrup. The price varies between 30-50 rubles.
  • Phytoglistocide. A distinctive feature of the drug is its composition. It contains plant components such as extract of yarrow, tansy, valerian, thyme, cloves, licorice, garlic, etc. When used, the drug helps get rid of parasites, but also normalizes the function of the liver, gall bladder, and various parts of the digestive tract. Despite the absence of adverse reactions, it is contraindicated for use by pregnant and lactating women. The average cost is 120-160 rubles.
  • Biltricide. It is an analogue of Dekaris with the main active ingredient praziquantel. Promotes inhibition of the parasite and its removal from the digestive tract by paralyzing the muscle fibers of the parasite's body due to the effect on calcium channels. The spectrum of its action is quite wide, the most pronounced effect is on flukes, tapeworms, schistosomes, etc. The cost is quite high for redness with many drugs of this pharmacological group and is about 350-450 rubles.
  • Nemozol. Albendazole, which is included in the composition, provides an anthelmintic effect. The mobility of the pathogen is blocked with subsequent release into the environment. The main indications are mixed invasions, manifestations of echinococcosis, ascariasis and enterobiasis. The price of the drug is in the range of 150-190 rubles.
  • Vormin. An anthelmintic drug containing Mebendazole. The disadvantage of this drug is its rather narrow spectrum of action. It affects only pathogens of enterobiasis. The average cost is 150-200 rubles.

Dekaris tablets

Decaris belongs to the group of anthelmintic drugs that have a detrimental effect on worm parasites. This effect is achieved due to the content of the active substance levamisole hydrochloride. Decaris paralyzes the body of helminths, has a negative effect on their cell membranes and kills some types of parasites.

Compound

1 type Type 2
Description White flat tablets with engraving with a diameter of 9 mm. Round, flat orange tablets with inclusions, quarter marks and an apricot scent, pale orange when crushed. Diameter 7 mm.
Levamisole concentration, mg per piece. 150 50
Compound Corn starch, lactose monohydrate, magnesium stearate, sucrose, povidone, talc Corn starch, povidone, sunset yellow color, sodium saccharinate, magnesium stearate, talc, apricot flavor
Package 1 piece each in contour packaging 2 pcs. in a pack

Decaris contains levamisole. This is an anthelmintic that acts on ganglion-like formations of nematodes. This leads to depolarizing neuromuscular paralysis of the parasite muscle membrane, blocking the enzyme succinate dehydrogenase, inhibition of fumarate dehydrogenase and disruption of the bioenergetic metabolism of helminths. Nematodes are paralyzed and removed from the body with normal intestinal motility within 24 hours.

50 mg of levamisole is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, reaching maximum concentration within 1.5-2 hours from the moment of administration. In the liver, the substance is actively metabolized, the metabolites being glucuronide and hydroxylevamisole. The drug is excreted from the body in 6-12 hours, excreted by the intestines (0.2%) and kidneys (no more than 5%).

The destructive effectiveness of Dekaris against worms is manifested only on those parasites that have developed muscles (roundworms, pinworms). The product does not work when infected with tapeworms and flukes that live in the intestinal mucosa. The immunomodulatory effect of the drug is associated with the activation of blood cells - monocytes, neutrophils, T-lymphocytes. Due to their increased activity, the immune system is stimulated and the body’s resistance to infections increases.

Instructions for use of Dekaris contain a list of types of parasites against which the remedy is effective:

  • infection with helminths from the genus Ascaris lumbrocoides, Necator and Americanus Ancylostoma duodenale;
  • ascariasis, enterobiasis (roundworms, pinworms, roundworms);
  • trichocephalosis, hookworm (whipworm, hookworm);
  • necatoriasis, toxoplasmosis (necatoriasis, toxoplasma);
  • strongyloidiasis, trichostrongylosis (intestinal eel, nematodes).

  • Vermox is an effective drug that helps remove helminths from the human or animal body. Helps treat several types of worms, in particular pork tapeworm. The product has a high rating among antihelminthic drugs.

    The tablets are white, with the inscription Vermox on one side. The package contains 6 tablets. The drug has an unobtrusive odor. The main manufacturer of the product is the Hungarian company Gedeon Richter, but it is also produced by the Belgian organization Janssen Pharmaceutica.

    The tablets contain the active ingredient mebendazole (100 mg per 1 piece). This substance has a powerful anthelmintic effect; it blocks the flow of glucose to parasites. Vermox also contains:

    • corn starch;
    • talc;
    • magnesium stearate;
    • sodium saccharinate;
    • lactose.

    How much does Vermox cost? The cost of the drug in pharmacies in different regions varies, but it rarely exceeds 130 rubles. Average price: 95 rubles. The medicine is one of the most budget-friendly in its category and is produced abroad.

    Analogues of the drug:

    • Dekaris (RUR 80–95);
    • Vermaul (80–150 rubles);
    • Vormin (RUR 80–130);
    • Vermakar (from 80 rub.).

    The product affects the vital activity of helminths: it disrupts the processing of glucose, so that the worms do not receive the main nutrient. The drug inhibits the synthesis of the ATP molecule, as a result of which the parasites lose energy and the ability to reproduce. After taking Vermox, the formation of beta-tubulin, a substance necessary for transporting microparticles inside the cell, completely stops in the human body.

    The disadvantage of such an abundance of actions is that the anthelmintic drug also negatively affects the human body. Some of the processes that it inhibits are necessary for normal life. Because of this, Vermox has significant side effects.

    The tablet is absorbed in 5 hours (on average), during which time it has time to act on parasites. After complete dissolution, the drug leaves the body naturally.

    Indications of tablets

    What does Vermox help with? The medicine affects the following diseases:

    • enterobiasis (caused by pinworms);
    • ascariasis (roundworms);
    • Cochin diarrhea (roundworms - eels);
    • trichinosis (nematodes);
    • hookworm (roundworms - necators or hookworms);
    • trichocephalosis (roundworms - whipworms);
    • taeniasis (tapeworms - pork tapeworms).

    How to use the medicine? The dosage of the drug is selected for a specific case. Rules of application:

    1. For children: for enterobiasis, take 100 mg once. For mixed helminthiasis, it is necessary to take 100 mg of the drug twice a day. The course lasts 2–3 days. To consolidate the results of treatment and if the symptoms of the disease recur, you need to use the drug again in the same dosage. You can re-use the product 3 weeks after the first dose.
    2. For adults: for ascariasis, mixed helminthiasis, taeniasis, Cochin diarrhea - 100 mg of the drug twice a day (morning and evening). Treatment takes 3 days. The dosage for echinococcosis varies: 1000 mg per day for 3 days (split into two applications of 500 mg), gradually increasing the dose to 1200–1500 mg (depending on the person’s condition). The course of treatment ranges from 4 weeks to 2 years (if the causative agent of the disease is alveococcus). In the case of trichinosis, you should take 900 mg on the first day, 1200 mg on the second day and 1500 mg on subsequent days (the course takes from 3 to 14 days). The daily dose is designed for 3 applications.
    3. For animals: the minimum daily dose is half a tablet. The exact dosage for cats and dogs is calculated separately and depends on the condition of the pet and the stage of the disease. Old and exhausted animals should be given no more than 100 mg of the drug per day.

    It is worth understanding that the exact dosage must be prescribed by a doctor. Only a specialist can draw up a competent treatment plan. Exceptions are cases of infestation with pinworms and roundworms, since they are quite easy to remove from the body.

    The use of the product is prohibited for children under 2 years of age. From the age of 14 you can take doses indicated for adults. Directions for use: The medicine should be taken with a small amount of water. The effect of Vermox does not depend on your diet, so the medicine can be taken before or after meals.

    Contraindications:

    • peptic ulcers;
    • liver diseases;
    • lactose intolerance.

    Possible side effects:

    • various allergic manifestations (rashes, itching);
    • nausea and vomiting;
    • constipation;
    • drowsiness and fatigue;
    • anemia.

    Some patients experience hair loss, severe dizziness (even fainting), and eosinophilia. With long-term therapy, the drug causes hepatitis and impaired liver function.

    This medication is recommended to be taken during or after meals with a small amount of water. If necessary, you can take the drug again after about one or two weeks. During treatment with Decaris, you do not need to follow a specific diet, and you also do not need to take laxatives.

    Taken as an antiparasitic agent, a single dose is 150 mg (this is one tablet). When treating toxoplasmosis, the medicine is taken in a course of three days (one tablet per day). There are usually two or three such courses, but with a mandatory break of seven days. The use of Decaris as an immunomodulator is very rare, but even in these cases the dosage remains the same - one tablet per day for a course of three days.

    The intervals between taking the drug are two weeks. Usually, after completing two courses of taking Decaris, the patient is prescribed one tablet once a week. But the duration of treatment is determined by an immunologist under the supervision of tests and studies.

    During pregnancy, treatment with Decaris is contraindicated. If a pregnant woman is infected with parasites, it is recommended that in order not to harm the health of the unborn child, treatment with folk remedies: garlic enemas, pumpkin seeds, etc. In rare cases, it may be necessary to prescribe the drug to a nursing woman; breastfeeding should be stopped during this period.

    Special instructions for the use of the drug Dekaris

    During and after taking the drug, you are not allowed to drink alcoholic beverages for 24 hours.

    The drug Dekaris 150 mg contains lactose, so patients with rare hereditary forms of galactose intolerance, lactase deficiency or glucose-galactase malabsorption syndrome should not use the drug.

    The drug Dekaris 150 mg contains sucrose, this should be taken into account by patients with diabetes mellitus.

    Use during pregnancy and lactation. During pregnancy, Decaris can be prescribed only if the expected benefit outweighs the possible risk of using the drug. During breastfeeding, in order to protect the baby, it is necessary to decide whether the mother needs to take the drug.

    Children. Tablets in a dosage of 150 mg should not be prescribed to children! Tablets in a dosage of 50 mg are used in children over 3 years of age as prescribed and under the supervision of a physician.

    The ability to influence reaction speed when driving vehicles or working with other mechanisms. It has not been proven that levamisole depresses the nervous system. While taking the drug, mild and short-term dizziness is possible, so you should be careful when driving a car, working in places of increased danger and with other mechanisms.

    Dekaris adverse reactions

    When treated with Dekaris, people can sometimes experience the following negative effects:

    1. Diarrhea (a pathological condition in which the patient experiences frequent bowel movements, and the stool becomes watery).
    2. Nausea (a painful sensation in the epigastric region, chest, oral cavity and pharynx, often precedes vomiting).
    3. True hypersalivation (salivation is caused by increased saliva production due to the influence of one of the etiological factors).
    4. Vomiting (feelings of contraction of the stomach and esophagus without the arrival of vomit).
    5. Tachycardia (increased heart rate from one hundred beats per minute).
    6. Migraine (a neurological disease, the most common and characteristic symptom of which is episodic or regular severe and painful attacks of headache in one side of the head).
    7. Sleep disturbance (a serious problem that deprives many people suffering from such disorders of vitality and reduces their performance).
    8. In rare situations, seizures.
    9. Rashes on the skin.
    10. Hyperemia (overflow of blood vessels of the circulatory system of any organ or area of the body).
    11. Itchy skin.
    12. Burning.

    Extremely rarely, patients may experience increased sensitivity and signs of encephalopathy (damage to brain cells caused by damaging factors and leading to dysfunction of brain structures).

    Overdose

    Overdose occurs when the permissible dose increases. Clinical manifestations are observed already with the use of about 600 mg of Decaris.

    Among them, intoxication symptoms such as the development of nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness should be highlighted.

    • Neurological signs are characterized by headache, dizziness and confusion.
    • From the gastrointestinal tract, these are nausea, vomiting and other signs of dyspepsia.

    If such symptoms are detected, you should contact a specialist to provide qualified assistance.

    First aid:

    1. First aid measures require gastric lavage if use occurs within 2 hours.

    2. Vital functions must be monitored.
    3. Among medications, symptomatic therapy can be used.
    4. In case of anticholinesterase action, Atropine must be administered.

    pharmachologic effect

    Due to Levamisole, which is the main active ingredient of Dekaris, the main anthelmintic effect is manifested.

    Pharmacodynamics

    1. By acting on the helminth membrane, depolarization of the membrane occurs in the ganglion-like formations of the parasite. This is manifested by paralysis of muscle fibers.
    2. In addition, it blocks succinate dehydrogenase and inhibits the production of fumarate dehydrogenase. Due to such mechanisms, a gradual inhibition of all vital functions in the nematode’s body occurs.
    3. Disturbed bioenergetic processes do not allow the parasite to protect itself from leaving the body. Therefore, within 24 hours from the moment of using Dekaris, passive elimination of nematodes occurs due to peristaltic movements performed normally by the intestinal wall.

    Pharmacokinetics

    1. Decaris is taken exclusively orally. Once in the body, it is quickly absorbed into the blood. After which the main active substance binds to blood plasma proteins.
    2. The maximum concentration of Dekaris is achieved after 1.5 or 2 hours from the moment of administration.
    3. Metabolism of the substance occurs in liver cells. The main metabolites of Decarias are hydroxylevamisole and its glucuronide.
    4. Excretion can be accomplished through urine and feces. On average, the half-life of Dekaris is 3-4 hours.
    5. Almost all of Decaris is excreted in the form of metabolites, only a small percentage is excreted unchanged. About 1% is excreted in feces, and up to 5% in urine.

    After what period of time does Decaris take effect?

    Another frequently asked question from patients is how long after taking medications the parasites will leave the body. If Dekaris is prescribed as a treatment for helminthic infestation, the worms come out within 24-32 hours after the medication is taken. However, there are cases when the period of parasite release lasts up to 72 hours. This is due to a slowdown in intestinal motility. In such cases, it is recommended to increase the level of fiber intake to speed up the removal of dead worms from the body.

    Storage conditions

    The drug is dispensed in pharmacies according to a prescription from the attending physician. These tablets must be kept away from children, avoiding direct sunlight, at a temperature of no more than twenty-five degrees. The shelf life of the drug "Dekaris" is sixty months. After this period, the medicine is not recommended for oral use.

    Reviews from parasitologists about Dekaris are very positive. In addition to it, medical specialists in practice use the following medications: Nemozol and Pirantel. Despite the positive effect of the drug during the appearance of the described pathologies in the human body, the groundless use of drugs is strictly contraindicated. They should only be prescribed by a doctor after conducting appropriate diagnostics, which is aimed at identifying the presence of worms in the human body.

    Briefly about the substance

    Decaris is sold in specialized pharmacies in tablets of 50 and 150 mg; the composition of the tablets differs slightly in the set of excipients. The main active ingredient of the drug is levamisole, which is sold under the same name.

    The drug decaris is effective for:

    • ascariasis (caused by human roundworm);
    • necatorose (necator);
    • hookworm (hookworm)
    • strongyloidiasis (intestinal acne);
    • trichostrongyloidiasis (trichostrongyloides);
    • trichocephalosis (whipworm);
    • enterobiasis (pinworms);
    • toxoplasmosis (toxoplasma).

    But the greatest effect is observed and guaranteed in the treatment of nekator, hookworms and roundworms.

    The mechanical effect of the drug is aimed at disrupting the energy metabolism of the worms, which leads to paralysis of the helminth muscles.

    Indications for use

    It is used to treat the following helminthic diseases:

    • ascariasis;
    • hookworm;
    • strongyloidiasis;
    • trichocephalosis;
    • trichostrongylosis;
    • enterobiasis;
    • toxoplasmosis.

    It is used as an immunomodulatory drug for infectious diseases, such as:

    • herpes;
    • warts;
    • often recurrent inflammatory and infectious diseases of the upper respiratory tract in children;
    • active chronic and viral hepatitis;
    • recurrent sinusitis.

    The drug is used for immunodeficiency conditions and autoimmune diseases - aphthous recurrent stomatitis, Crohn's disease, rheumatoid arthritis, Reiter's disease.

    It can be prescribed as an immunomodulator for malignant tumors of the colon, lungs, mammary gland, as well as during the period of remission for leukemia and lymphogranulomatosis.

    Alcohol compatibility

    It is prohibited to combine the substance levamisole with alcoholic beverages or drink alcohol at the same time as Dekaris. This threatens that disulfiram-like phenomena develop: the heart begins to beat faster, the skin turns red, blood pressure drops, an aversion to alcohol and nausea sets in. There should be at least 24 hours between taking the tablets and ethanol.

    First of all, with such use, the liver suffers, since it is here that the neutralization of all dangerous compounds that enter the body occurs.

    Based on this, we can safely conclude that during treatment with Dekaris you should stop taking alcohol-containing products.

    The composition of any anthelmintic drug is toxic not only to parasites, but also to the person himself. And any interaction of the active substances of the drug with ethyl alcohol can lead to serious and unpredictable consequences. This is clearly stated in the instructions for use for Dekaris. Disulfiram-like phenomena can lead to increased activation of some side effects. It is possible that signs of poisoning may appear - intoxication of the body, accompanied by nausea, vomiting and dizziness.

    Which is better Dekaris or Pirantel

    In order to figure out which of the presented drugs is better, you should learn a little more about these drugs.

    • Active substance. Dekaris has levamisole, Pirantel has pyrantel;
    • Efficiency. Both drugs are effective in the fight against roundworms, pinworms, and hookworms. At the same time, Decaris is a stronger remedy;
    • Safety. Decaris has a more toxic effect on the body than Pirantel. That is why the second drug is considered safer and is prescribed starting from the 6th month, unlike Dekaris, the use of which is not recommended until 3 years;
    • The duration of treatment with Pirantel is longer when Decaris acts with a single dose.

    From all of the above, we can conclude that Pirantel is a more gentle, but less effective remedy. It has less toxic effects and side effects, so in case of mild infection it is better to take it.

    Decaris is a stronger remedy and is used for advanced disease with a large number of invasions.

    Only a doctor can decide which drug is better after passing tests that will reveal the type of parasites, as well as the degree of infection. The appointment is also given based on other factors, such as the presence of concomitant diseases, age, etc.

    What to do if side effects develop

    If side effects occur during treatment with Dekaris, due to which the patient’s well-being begins to rapidly deteriorate, it is necessary to call an ambulance. In such cases, emergency hospitalization is indicated.

    If the patient exceeds the dosage of the medicine, he will experience poisoning, in which case the following must be done:

    1. The stomach is washed.
    2. Drug therapy is carried out, the purpose of which is to eliminate unpleasant symptoms.

    Regardless of what side effects develop due to Decaris, patients should not self-medicate. They can only receive qualified assistance in medical institutions.

    Side effects of the drug Dekaris

    From the intestines, Dekaris is quickly absorbed into the blood. An increase in the concentration of Decaris in the blood leads to impaired immunity, resulting in a decrease in the body's resistance to infections.

    In addition, the following health problems may occur, which are called side effects in the instructions for the drug: nausea, vomiting, diarrhea; abdominal pain, pancreatitis; ulceration of the oral mucosa; increased activity of alkaline phosphatase, which leads to damage to the liver, bones, and placenta; headache, convulsions, speech impairment, fatigue, tremor, loss of coordination, sleep disturbances; kidney damage; an increase in creatinine levels in the blood, the toxic effect of which destroys muscle tissue.

    Drug poisoning can lead to toxic damage to the bone marrow, resulting in the development of blood and vascular diseases:

    • leukopenia – a decrease in the number of leukocytes (immune blood cells that determine the immune response to the aggression of harmful bacteria);
    • agranulocytosis - a more severe damage to the immune cells of the blood accompanied by infectious processes: sore throat, ulcerative stomatitis, pneumonia, nosebleeds, diathesis with small rashes on the skin and the appearance of continuous bruises caused by the destruction of blood vessels;
    • uterine bleeding;
    • inflammation of the walls of blood vessels (vasculitis);
    • enlarged lymph nodes (lymphadenopathy), which indicates the development of allergies or a precancerous condition;
    • allergic reactions: skin rash, dermatitis, swelling of the conjunctiva and cornea of the eye, iridocyclitis;
    • muscle weakness and even perversion of taste.

    The use of Decaris is limited in time, since it contains a very toxic substance - levamisole, so the danger of overdose of the drug is very high. Even the very first signs of intoxication should alert you: headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea. In this case, it is necessary to stop taking decaris, rinse the stomach, and take enterosorbents that will help cope with intoxication. Otherwise, the consequences can be very sad: convulsions, confusion, lethargy.

    In healthy people, taking Decaris causes the following health problems: impaired digestion and absorption of nutrients - dyspeptic and dyspeptic disorders; blood poisoning - especially with long-term use; decreased resistance to infections.

    Decaris should not be taken by pregnant women or while breastfeeding; if you have poor blood test results (anemia); children under 14 years of age.

    You must remember if you have a chronic disease: liver and/or kidney failure, bone marrow hematopoiesis disorder (anemia), cerebral circulatory disorders, atherosclerosis (especially if you are an elderly person), leukemia (blood cancer), taking Decaris causes a worsening of the condition .

    In the instructions for use of Dekaris, the recommended doses should be taken once (1 tablet once a day). If necessary, repeat taking Decaris after 1 week. For toxoplasmosis (in this case the parasite lives inside the cells of human organs) 1 table. once a day for 3 days (2-3 courses with breaks of 1 week).

    The instructions say that Dekaris is prescribed for the treatment of ascariasis, strongyloidiasis, hookworm disease, trichostrongyloidiasis, and necatoriasis. And at the same time, the development cycle of larval forms of helminths, which during this period live in the internal organs and can colonize, migrating with the bloodstream from organ to organ, is 3 months. As you can see, even repeated use of decaris does not allow you to get rid of parasite larvae. In addition, it is necessary to remove parasitic intoxication, otherwise it will lead to dire consequences for your health.

    Side effects and contraindications

    The list of contraindications for Dekaris contains the following items:

    • pregnancy;
    • lactation period (breastfeeding);
    • patient age under 3 years;
    • bone marrow diseases;
    • individual intolerance to components.

    You should be careful when prescribing the drug to patients with various kidney or liver pathologies. The effects of anthelmintic on these organs can aggravate the situation.

    In some cases, side effects may occur when taking Decaris.

    These include:

    • nausea, possibly with vomiting;
    • diarrhea;
    • pain in the intestinal area;
    • migraine;
    • elevated temperature;
    • sleep disturbance;
    • lack of coordination;
    • olfactory hallucinations;
    • dizziness;
    • allergic skin reactions accompanied by itching;
    • renal failure.

    Decaris and alcoholic drinks

    Drinking alcohol in itself can be dangerous for the body, especially excessive consumption of drinks containing it. The alcohol contained in most alcoholic beverages is harmful to overall health.

    All body systems suffer:

    • gastrointestinal tract;
    • central nervous system;
    • the cardiovascular system;
    • genitourinary system;
    • respiratory organs and so on.

    If we talk about the gastrointestinal tract, alcoholic beverages contribute to the malabsorption of many substances. The load on the liver and kidneys also seriously increases, including due to the ability of alcohol to clog the capillaries that permeate these organs with clusters of red blood cells.

    And the situation can worsen significantly if, along with alcohol, medications also put a strain on the organs. A drug such as Dekaris also significantly loads the liver and kidneys, which metabolize it and remove it from the body.

    Double loads on the above organs lead to the fact that neither one nor the other has time to cope with the flow of toxins and effectively get rid of them. As a result, the body is subjected to a massive attack of accumulated toxins, which, naturally, cannot but affect the general condition.

    In addition, the toxic attack on the body is enhanced by increasing the time it takes for Decaris components to be removed from it. As mentioned above, the anthelmintic is quite toxic and has an impressive list of side effects.

    Under normal conditions, side effects are extremely rare. When combined with alcohol, the likelihood of their occurrence, and in a fairly intense form, increases many times over.

    And one of the main disadvantages of drinking alcohol during treatment with Dekaris is a decrease in the effectiveness of the drug. Which, taken together with all of the above, generally casts doubt on the appropriateness of such treatment.

    There is only one conclusion: Decaris is categorically incompatible with alcoholic drinks!

    Release form

    The medicine is produced in two types of tablets, which differ in the dosage of the active component and their appearance:

    • Tablets intended for children are characterized by a lower concentration of the active ingredient. They have a light orange color, a flat round shape and an apricot aroma. On one side of these tablets there are marks, according to which they can be divided into quarters. One pack contains a blister with two tablets.
    • The higher dosage drug for adults is white round tablets without score lines, and on one side they are marked DECARIS 150. They are sold in a pack of one piece.

    Our readers write

    Topic: Parasites are to blame for all troubles!

    From: Elena V.

    I have felt very bad for the past few years. Constant fatigue, insomnia, some kind of apathy, laziness, frequent headaches. I also had problems with digestion, and in the morning I had bad breath.

    And here is my story

    All this began to accumulate and I realized that I was moving in some wrong direction. I began to lead a healthy lifestyle and eat right, but this did not affect my well-being. The doctors couldn’t really say anything either. Everything seems to be normal, but I feel like my body is not healthy.

    Then I went to an expensive clinic and had all the tests done, and in one of the tests I was found to have parasites. These were not ordinary worms, but a specific type, with which, according to doctors, almost everyone is infected, to a greater or lesser extent. It is almost impossible to remove them from the body. I took a course of antiparasitic medications that were prescribed to me at that clinic, but there was almost no result.

    A couple of weeks later I came across an article on the Internet. This article literally changed my life. I did everything as it was written there and after just a few days, I felt significant improvements in my body. I began to get enough sleep much faster, and the energy that I had in my youth appeared. My head no longer hurts, my mind became clearer, my brain began to work much better. My digestion has improved, despite the fact that I now eat haphazardly. I took tests and made sure that no one else lives in me!

    Anyone who wants to cleanse their body of parasites, no matter what types of these creatures live in you, read this article, I’m 100% sure it will help you!

    Also, it is prohibited to use Decaris in conjunction with the use of lipophilic drugs. This combination can lead to leukopenia. Some nuances of treatment of helminthic infestations with Dekaris are also available for women who are breastfeeding. Any person who has taken an anthelmintic drug must stop breastfeeding and switch to feeding the baby to artificial milk formula. This is due to the rapid passage of the drug components into breast milk, the use of which as directed will not benefit the baby.

    Decaris - immunomodulator

    Although the drug has a regulatory effect on the immune system, it is currently extremely rarely used to enhance protective functions. There are many other immunomodulators that affect the body more gently and effectively.

    Previously, when the choice of immunomodulators was not as extensive as it is now, the medication was prescribed for the following conditions:

    1. Herpes (a viral disease characterized by a rash of grouped blisters on the skin and mucous membranes).
    2. Chronic hepatitis B (one of the common causes of liver inflammation).
    3. Rheumatoid arthritis (a connective tissue disease with primary damage to small capillaries of unknown etiology).
    4. Recurrent stomatitis (inflammation of the oral mucosa, which has a chronic course with periods of remissions and exacerbations).
    5. Frequent acute respiratory disease in children.
    6. Crohn's disease (a chronic disease of unknown origin, which is characterized by a granulomatous inflammatory process affecting various parts of the digestive organs).
    7. Reiter's disease (a rheumatic disease characterized by combined damage to the urogenital tract, joints and mucous membranes of the eyes).

    In addition, “Dekaris” is used as a drug to maintain protective functions against malignant tumors.

    Decaris during pregnancy

    Doctors do not recommend the use of Decaris during pregnancy because it has embryotoxic properties - it can lead to problems with fetal development and even death. Prescription of the drug is possible for health reasons, when the benefit to the mother exceeds the risk to the fetus. According to the instructions, levamisole passes into breast milk, so you should avoid breastfeeding while taking it.

    The decision on the possibility of using the drug Dekaris for the treatment of a woman carrying a child is made by the attending physician in cases where there is a significant risk to the life and health of the mother. During the course of therapy with Decaris, you must stop breastfeeding.

    Description of the drug

    Decaris tablets are a synthetic anthelmintic drug. The main active ingredient of this drug is levamisole. As soon as the drug enters the body and the active substances begin to work, the helminths begin to paralyze the entire muscular system. Levamisole also provokes the cessation of the functioning of the entire protein complex of the parasite's inner membrane.

    Decaris can also be used as an immunomodulator due to the adrenal hormone it contains. The product is available in the form of tablets intended for oral administration. The medicine is produced in Hungary and can be bought in almost every pharmacy. Price may vary depending on region and other factors. The product has no structural analogues, but there are drugs that have similar properties; they can also be used to rid a person of helminths.

    What happens after taking the drug

    Penetrating into the patient’s body, levamisole has a destructive effect on the bioenergetic processes of parasites. Also, under the influence of the drug, worms develop paralysis of the neuromuscular system. Deprived of the ability to attach to tissues, helminths leave the human body during bowel movements. At this time, it is important to pay attention to the fact that the person does not have bowel movements. In order to verify the effectiveness of the medication, after a while it is recommended to carry out an analysis to determine the presence of worm eggs.

    Important! If there are worms in the subcutaneous tissues, the patient may require surgical intervention.

    Decaris for prevention

    Parasites and worms in particular cause great harm to the body.
    Most of us understand this very well, so we try to avoid possible infections with infestations. The difficulty is that this disease cannot always be diagnosed independently. And while children are often tested for the presence of all kinds of parasites at school and kindergarten, adults do not do this. Most adhere to a simple rule - they take anthelmintics as a preventive measure. At the same time, the majority neglect to consult a doctor and choose the means to take on their own. How suitable is Dekaris for the role of preventative?

    Due to the fact that this drug is quite toxic and has a number of quite serious contraindications, doctors do not recommend using this medication as a prophylactic.

    To select the correct prophylactic agent, it is still better to consult with your doctor. This will help avoid many problems in the future.

    Bottom line

    Helminthiasis is a disease that, if untimely or incorrectly treated, can lead to very serious negative consequences. Therefore, timely diagnosis, treatment and following all doctor’s recommendations is the key to a speedy recovery. And Dekaris is one of the most effective anthelmintics prescribed by attending physicians.

    Don’t forget about preventive measures - it’s easier to prevent a disease than to treat it. Any drug treatment is a burden on healthy organs. In addition, these funds could have been spent on more useful things.

    Drinking alcohol during treatment with one or another drug, including Dekaris, can not only seriously harm the body and certain organs, but also call into question the appropriateness of the entire therapy.

    In addition to alcohol, there are many entertainments that tend to saturate the body with adrenaline and give joy and satisfaction. Sports, hiking, war games - the list goes on and on. You can be happy without drinking strong drinks!

    Analogs

    As a replacement for Dekaris tablets, other drugs used for helminthiasis can be used.

    The most popular of them are:

    • . This medicine is available in suspension and tablet form. It has the same mechanism of action on worms, so Pirantel is prescribed for the same helminthiases. At the same time, it is used in the treatment of children older than six months, which is one of the advantages compared to Dekaris. An analogue of the drug, also containing pyrantel, is. This medication is available in both suspension and coated tablets. It is also prescribed to children from 6 months.
    • . This anthelmintic drug contains mebendazole and is also a product of the Gedeon Richter company. It is available in tablets and is approved for use in children over 2 years of age. Instead, you can give tablets, which also include mebendazole and are allowed from the age of two. The main advantage of these drugs is a wider spectrum of anthelmintic action.
    • . The active ingredient of this medicine is albendazole, which also has a wide spectrum of anthelmintic effects. The medication is presented as a suspension and coated tablets, as well as chewable tablets. If there are indications, it is prescribed to a child of any age.

    From the program of the popular children's doctor E.O. Komarovsky you can learn everything about helminths and ways to combat them.

    Dosage of Decaris

    For those who are not afraid of the side effects of Decaris, it is extremely important to observe the exact dosage of this most dangerous drug.

    50-milligram tablets (for children), taken once:

    • 10-14 years - 75-100 mg;
    • 6-10 years - 50-75 mg;
    • 3-6 years - 25-50 mg.

    A 150-mg tablet is taken once by adults.

    So, Decaris is the most dangerous of all anthelmintic drugs, not only exceeding the dose of which can lead to death, but even taking it in the correct dosage. The use of this anthelmintic as a preventive measure is extremely undesirable, especially for children. If you suspect a worm infection, it is best to use natural preparations from antiparasitic herbs.

    Decaris side effects

    Adverse reactions may develop as a result of taking the drug.
    Migraine, dizziness may appear, cases of sleep disturbances, and a feeling of strong heartbeat have been noted. In some cases, there may be convulsions, nausea, and even vomiting. More often than others, abdominal pain and diarrhea are noted. As a result of long-term treatment, allergic reactions may develop - rash, itching. In most cases, all these symptoms are reversible and disappear immediately after stopping the drug. Glucosteroid drugs help minimize the consequences of treatment with Dekaris.

    Also, as a result of long-term use of the drug, there is a decrease in leukocytes in the blood, so a blood test must be performed every week. If tests worsen, treatment should be stopped immediately.

    Reviews

    • “I still can’t understand how I could agree to treatment with Dekaris, since my five-year-old son was poisoned by the drug. The high temperature lasted for five days and rose to 40 degrees, accompanied by a severe headache, nausea and vomiting, and severe intoxication. I would never recommend it to either children or adults.” Katerina
    • “Dekaris had been drinking since the evening. A few hours later I felt a terrible chemical taste from ordinary water, but the water was fine. I didn’t notice any other changes in my body” Vyacheslav
    • “My husband and I decided to take a Decaris tablet as a preventative measure. As a result, both of them had a fever of 39C, a headache, and all their muscles were twisting. The husband was dying from stomach pain. A day later, the condition improved, but the headache did not go away for a long time.” Margarita

    Rules for using the drug

    Decaris is used to treat helminths that parasitize inside the body, causing a lot of problems. Only a doctor can prescribe the required dosage and regimen after examination and receipt of test results. The dosage may vary depending on the age and weight of the patient. Experts focus on a person’s weight in order to reduce the risk of side effects from the drug and other negative phenomena. It is prohibited to change the dosage or dosage regimen on your own. This can be harmful to your health.

    There is also a separate table that a doctor can use to prescribe a treatment regimen, which does not take into account weight; the prescription of the amount of medication depends only on age. In each individual case, the doctor independently decides what amount of the drug will be optimal for the child, will help him get rid of parasites and will not harm his health. If during treatment the child’s health has deteriorated significantly or complaints have appeared, then you should immediately consult a doctor, he will change the dosage of the drug or cancel it, replacing it with restorative therapy. Self-medication can aggravate the situation, but will not always provide relief from worms.

    The rules for taking the drug for adults are different, and the dosage also changes. Since the medicine can be used to treat a number of diseases caused by parasites, the regimen of long-term antiparasitic therapy may vary. Most importantly, a person must follow the doctor’s recommendations exactly and not skip taking pills. If necessary, the course of treatment can be repeated, but for preventive purposes after some time. The doctor will tell you about this after the tests are repeated.

    Treatment with decaris usually involves taking one tablet per day. If necessary, therapy can last from 1 to 3 days. Experts recommend taking the medicine in the evening, after the last meal. The tablet must be taken with a glass of clean water. During this antiparasitic treatment, the patient does not need to take additional laxatives or adhere to a specific diet.

    Attention should be paid to hygiene rules, as well as the quality of food and water consumed.

    Instructions for use

    For children

    Decaris is taken in the following dosages:

    • In children from 3 to 6 years of age, Decaris is used at a dose of 25-50 mg, which corresponds to half or one tablet, with a child’s body weight not exceeding 10-20 kg
    • In the period 6 to 10 years and the child’s body weight is not less than 20, but not more than 30 kg, Decaris is taken in an amount of 50 to 75 mg. This mass corresponds to 1 or 1.5 tablets.
    • At the age of 10 to 14 years with a body weight of not less than 30 and not more than 40 kg, Decaris is used in a dose of 75-100 mg. Decaris is used strictly internally, once.

    To improve the effects of Decaris, it is recommended to use it after eating food, wash down the tablet with water in a small amount, mainly in the evening.

    When using Decaris, you do not need to specifically use laxatives or a special diet. If necessary, the course of therapy can be repeated after a week or two.

    For adults

    1. Dekaris use one tablet weighing 150 mg.
    2. To achieve the effect, it is enough to use one tablet; in some cases, at the discretion of the specialist, it is possible to repeat the course after 7 or 14 days.

    Use for impaired renal and liver function

    Decaris is not recommended for patients who have impaired functioning of these organs. In case of renal or liver failure without changing the level of enzymes, a single use is possible.

    Use during pregnancy and lactation period

    Decaris is relatively contraindicated for pregnant women. If the expected benefit outweighs the possible risk, taking Decaris is possible.

    In this case, mandatory supervision by a specialist and, if possible, urgent medical care are required.

    With a single dose of Dekaris, 150 mg, it is possible to maintain lactation.

    In the event that repeated use or the use of a higher dosage is required, it is necessary to temporarily stop feeding the child breast milk.

    To maintain lactation function, a woman should use pumping.

    Interaction

    Great care is required when combining Decaris with drugs that affect hematopoiesis. Thus, when combined with coumarin-like anticoagulants, the prothrombin time may increase, so in this case it is necessary to adjust the dose so that the drug gives the desired effect

    This anthelmintic drug increases the content of phenytoin in the blood, so careful monitoring is also required when combining Decaris with drugs containing this substance.

    Decaris should not be taken in parallel with lipophilic drugs - carbon tetrachloride, tetrachlorethylene, chenopodium oil, chloroform or ether, since in this tandem the toxicity of Declaris can increase many times over.

    A parallel complex of Decaris and ethanol is undesirable, since in this case there is a high probability of disulfiram-like reactions occurring, and when combined with Warfarin, there is a high probability of bleeding.

    Impact on the ability to drive vehicles

    Effect on the ability to drive vehicles
    The drug has no direct contraindications against driving or operating machinery that requires quick reaction and concentration. But in view of the fact that in some cases its use can lead to dizziness and other more severe adverse reactions from this activity, it is more advisable to refuse the entire course of treatment.

    Decaris and alcohol

    During a therapeutic course based on Decaris, you should not drink alcohol or alcohol-containing drinks. With such an interaction, disulfiram-like reactions occur. A person experiences an increased heart rate, red spots appear on the skin, and blood pressure can drop significantly.

    Using the drug for a hangover

    Hangover syndrome is a malfunction of organs after drinking alcohol.

    I feel bad in the morning because:

    1. The breakdown products of alcohol are poisonous; they poison the body. Because of this, the body tries to get rid of unnecessary substances - the person vomits, feels sick, and diarrhea occurs. Ethanol changes the blood supply. A person suffers from improper blood distribution - this manifests itself in the form of dry mouth.
    2. The acid-base balance gets lost and in the morning you feel nauseous and your breathing quickens.
    3. The nervous system becomes hypersensitive under the influence of alcohol - the light seems too bright, the sounds are loud.
    4. Alcohol eliminates the rapid phase of sleep, when a person gains new strength. It is impossible to sleep without it.

    The post-intoxication period is the time when the exocrine gland actively fights alcohol toxins. Taking the pill will place additional stress on the organ, and hangover symptoms may worsen.

    Interaction with other drugs

    If you treat a child simultaneously with Decaris and indirect anticoagulants, this may affect the blood clotting process and requires adjustment of the dose of the coumarin-like drug. Coadministration with phenytoin will cause an increase of this medication in the bloodstream. Combination with lipophilic drugs (for example, tetrachloromethane or chloroform) increases the toxicity of levamisole. The drug should be prescribed together with medications that affect hematopoietic processes with great caution. Treatment with levamisole is incompatible with taking any alcohol-containing products.

    Consequences of administration with alcohol

    If you combine both substances, the consequences are as follows:

    • worsening side effects;
    • cancellation of the therapeutic effect of the drug;
    • intoxication of the body due to drug overdose.

    Side effect:

    1. Increased heart rate.
    2. Nausea and vomiting.
    3. Involuntary muscle contraction with aching pain.
    4. Feeling of instability, loss of balance.
    5. Pain in the head and cervical spine.
    6. Acute pain in the abdominal cavity.
    7. Allergic reactions.
    8. Sleep disorders.

    A one-time dose blocks the breakdown of ethanol. Acetaldehyde accumulates and when drinking alcohol, intoxication occurs - a disulfiram-like reaction.

    This is expressed in:

    • reflex emptying of the stomach;
    • the person constantly feels sleepy;
    • cramps of the limbs are felt;
    • loose stools more than three times a day;
    • dizziness;
    • confusion.

    Treatment combined with the use of alcohol-containing drinks will not give any results, but will only worsen the patient’s condition. Ideally, you should stop drinking alcohol before getting tested.

    Dekaris analogues

    Decaris has many analogues that are similar to it both in composition and in the therapeutic effect it has on the body. They “work” in the body in different ways, but they all have one goal - to fight parasites. The choice of the most suitable drug for use is made by the attending physician. Even if the drugs have exactly the same composition, they can have different effects on the body. Therefore, it is impossible to spontaneously change one drug to another. The cost of Dekaris in pharmacies is low - from 62 rubles per pack.

    Pirantel

    The range of applications is slightly narrower than Dekaris. The basis of this drug is pyrantel. It is considered one of the most loyal to the body, and copes very well with intestinal infestations caused by roundworms. Allowed for use from six months. Available in the form of a suspension and chewable tablets. It has virtually no contraindications, so it is very often used as a preventive measure for the whole family. The cost is much cheaper than Dekaris - from 26 rubles per package.

    Vermox

    Vermox

    The basis of this medication is mebendazole. It has a fairly wide range of applications, including mixed invasions. Allowed for use in adults and children over three years of age. It has a number of contraindications and can cause adverse reactions. It differs from Dekaris in the way it affects helminths, but is no less effective. Suitable for prevention of the whole family. The cost of the drug in pharmacies starts from 75 rubles.

    Nemozol

    Nemozol

    An anthelmintic drug based on albendazole. Suitable for use in children over two years of age and in adults. It is effective against many parasitic diseases, which occur not only in the gastrointestinal tract. Due to the ability to penetrate many organs and fluids, it copes with parasites in the liver and pancreas. Available in the form of a suspension and chewable tablets. Costs from 150 rubles.

    Levamisole

    Levamisole

    It is a structural analogue of Dekaris. In terms of indications and contraindications, it completely coincides with Dekaris. It is not suitable for prophylactic use, but it works very well against many helminths. Prescribed to adults and children over three years of age. The cost is almost twice as high as its structural counterpart.

    Dekaris: analogues and special instructions

    Previously, Decaris was available with a doctor's prescription, but today you can buy it yourself at any pharmacy.

    Storage conditions

    The drug must be stored at a certain temperature, it should be 16-25 degrees. The drug should be hidden as far as possible from children.

    Best before date

    Dekaris has a long shelf life; it can be stored for 5 years.

    special instructions

    Decaris should not be combined with alcohol intake, nor should you drink alcohol during the day. The component levamisole contained in the drug may partially impair coordination and attention. The medicine is not recommended to be taken while driving a car, as it can depress the nervous system, reduce concentration, and cause drowsiness.

    Decaris is a fairly strong drug. During treatment, experts recommend staying at home and not going outside for 8 hours. It is at this time that a person may experience adverse reactions.

    Dekaris should be given to children with caution, and only in the dosage prescribed by the doctor, which should not be exceeded independently.

    For elderly people over the age of 65, the drug should also be prescribed with extreme caution, since in this case, the active substance Decaris can disrupt the functioning of the heart and also lower blood pressure.

    The drug should be used with special caution by people with impaired renal function, liver function, as well as diseases associated with blood circulation, diabetes mellitus.

    During treatment with Decaris, the level of leukocytes in the blood is monitored, as the drug is able to lower it.

    The medicine should also be taken with caution in combination with vasodilators, as well as drugs that affect hematopoiesis.

    Doses for patients at any age should be selected individually, and at the time of treatment it is necessary to monitor the patient's condition.

    Analogs

    Pyrantel is an effective remedy against helminths. The drug is able to quickly destroy all types of worms living in the human body, including worms. The substances included in the medicine affect the muscles of the helminths, as a result of which the motor nerves in the body of the worm are blocked. Pyrantel is capable of killing intestinal parasites both at an early stage of development and at a mature stage. It has a targeted effect against human roundworms, pinworms, hookworm disease (anemia caused by the action of helminths), and enterobiasis (deposition of worm eggs).

    Vermox is an antimicrobial drug that fights helminths, human roundworms, is effective against enterobiasis, and also cures trichuriasis. The drug has a fairly wide spectrum of action; its components are capable of killing worm eggs already on the second day. The product destroys glucose, which is vital for roundworms, as a result, the synthesis of cellular tubulin is disrupted, after which the parasites die. The drug is allowed to be taken by children.

    Zentel is a drug with a wide spectrum of action, has an antiprotozoal effect, and effectively fights all types of helminths. Zentel destroys glucose in the cavity of the worms, disrupts the function of the microtubular apparatus in them, which causes the death of the parasites, which are immediately removed from the human body. The drug relieves many types of intestinal infections: enterobiasis, hookworm, necatoriasis, ascariasis, clonorchiasis, opistrachiasis, giardiasis in children. The medicine is also prescribed if worms constantly appear in the child’s body.

    Nemozol is an effective remedy against helminths. Thanks to the active substance albendazole, the level of tubulin in the blood of worms is disrupted, as a result of which synthesis in cells is disrupted, glucose is excreted, which leads to the death of the parasites. Nemozol is prescribed for long-term helminthic diseases caused by one or several types of parasites. The drug kills pork tapeworm larvae and also gets rid of ascariasis, giardiasis, taeniasis and other helminthic infestations.

    If Dekaris is not suitable, analogues can only be purchased with a doctor’s prescription.

    For children

    Decaris is prescribed to children in a dosage of 50 mg; the tablets have a pleasant sweetish taste. The drug almost always causes adverse reactions in children. It should be remembered that the drug can be given to a child only after three years of age. Parents need to strictly monitor the dosage, otherwise the drug will cause poisoning.

    Before taking Decaris, the child must be shown to a doctor and have his stool tested for enterobiasis. The specialist will determine what type of helminths lives in the child’s intestines, and then prescribe an active remedy. Most often, Dekaris is prescribed. In the right doses, the medicine can quickly rid a child of painful parasites. A repeat appointment is also prescribed by the doctor if there are no contraindications.

    After the child has taken part of the pill, he must be monitored; he must not be left alone or allowed to go far from home, as he may suddenly become ill. There may be cases of intoxication of the body with poisons of parasites, which, upon death, release it into the body. This may cause the child to experience severe abdominal pain, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. In this case, it is necessary to provide symptomatic assistance, namely, provide plenty of warm drinks. If the poisoning does not go away within a few hours, you should call an ambulance.

    During pregnancy and lactation

    Under no circumstances should you drink Decaris during pregnancy. The drug causes poisoning of the body and can easily penetrate the placenta and into breast milk. If there is a need to take such medications, you need to consult a doctor so that the specialist can prescribe more gentle analogues instead of Decaris tablets. If the anthelmintic drug is not so toxic, there is no need to doubt its effect. Currently, many similar medicines are being produced to get rid of helminths, which are not so harmful to humans.

    Experts believe that if Dekaris affected the development of the child in the early stages, the pregnancy must be urgently terminated. Cases have been identified where, after taking the drug in the second month of pregnancy, the fetus experienced heart pathology.

    If a woman needs to take Decaris during lactation, then it is necessary to temporarily switch the baby to formula. At the end of treatment, do not breastfeed the baby for another week so that the remaining drug leaves the body completely. However, for weak helminthic infestations, it is better to choose an analogue of Dekaris.

    Reviews

    Olga, therapist

    “The pediatrician always prescribed Dekaris for the child, a quarter of the tablet, we are 5 years old. My daughter lives permanently in the village with her grandmother; she is simply tormented by worms. Dekaris removes worms quite quickly, they come out already dead, just in heaps. The drug helps, the specialist said, do not exceed the dose, otherwise there may be severe poisoning. We give her pills once a month, there has been no addiction yet, the child feels good.”

    Irina, seller

    “I agree that the drug is strong, it is terribly harmful to the body. I took a whole tablet of it, I immediately began to feel sick, vomited, and felt dizzy. As the doctor later said, the poisoning occurred from the poisons of worms, when they began to die, they spray toxic substances into the body, and such effects appeared from them.”

    Price, where to buy

    Decaris tablets in Russia cost about 80 rubles per pack (50 mg), a 150 mg pack costs about 100 rubles. The drug is sold in a pharmacy in free form; a prescription from a doctor is not needed.

    No matter how confident you are that the drug gets rid of parasites, you cannot take it without a dosage established by a specialist, especially if a child needs treatment. At first glance, it seems that helminthic infestations do not pose any danger, that they can be easily removed with any drug, but not everything is so simple.

    The doctor must take stool for analysis, determine what type of worms live in the intestines, and then prescribe a suitable drug. This will allow you to kill parasites without unnecessary harmful effects on the body. Also, in the future, you should take the drug only after consulting a doctor.

    special instructions

    Before starting a therapeutic course using Decaris, you should carefully examine the body for possible contraindications. It is imperative to conduct a peripheral blood test to ensure that all indicators are normal

    It is especially important to monitor the level of leukocytes, which tend to decrease during treatment with this anthelmintic.

    To prevent relapses, doctors recommend carrying out a thorough general cleaning of the house before taking the drug. Wash floors, toys, change bed linen. Before using the drug, change your underwear. Be sure to shower in the evening and in the morning. Change your underwear again. Bed linen should be carefully ironed with a hot iron the day before and for several days after taking the drug.

    During all days of therapy and thereafter, you need to carefully monitor your personal hygiene. Wash your hands with soap, cut your nails, and never bite them. Avoid scratching the anus.

    To prevent a relapse, everyone living with the patient should also take anthelmintic drugs as a preventive measure. Be sure to consult with a therapist about choosing a remedy for other family members.

    Decaris and beer

    Decaris and beer are incompatible. This is a substance that destroys helminths and parasites. But with the action of ethanol, the paralysis of the worms' muscles is eliminated, and the synthesis of enzymes in their tissues continues. Therefore, they do not die, they remain in the body.

    The drug is active against human roundworm, hookworm, and necator.

    During the treatment of helminthiasis, alcohol consumption is prohibited. After completion of therapy, it is recommended to abstain from drinks for 2 weeks.

    The drug and beer lead to increased stress on the liver and kidneys. Tissues are damaged and the risk of an inflammatory reaction increases.

    Effect on hematopoiesis

    The harm caused by Dekaris can manifest itself in the development of agranulocytosis, which characterizes inhibition of the hematopoietic system. In a state of agranulocytosis in humans, lymphocytes that provide active cellular immunity completely disappear in the peripheral blood. Agranulocytosis is a common side effect of many medications.

    Patients should keep in mind that Decaris, whose side effects on the body are very diverse, produces an individual effect in each case. The drug may not provoke the development of agranulocytosis in a person if there is no primary damage to the leukocyte system.

    With the development of agranulocytosis, a person becomes more susceptible to the effects of viruses and microorganisms, especially if drug poisoning is registered.

    Folk remedies

    Not only medicine for the prevention of worms in adults has proven its effectiveness. Prevention of parasites in humans with folk remedies and homeopathic medicines is an effective method, according to patient reviews. Pumpkin seeds are a good seed. To fight parasites, pumpkin seeds should be consumed raw on an empty stomach, first ground and mixed with honey. For helminthic prevention, a decoction of the seeds is prepared.

    There are many recipes for preparing anthelmintic products based on pumpkin seeds. Enemas with garlic infusion work well. Worms die if you drink cognac and castor oil mixed in a 1:1 ratio. A prerequisite for the effectiveness of traditional methods is the use of laxatives and intestinal lavage to remove dead worms. This is important because the parasites begin to decompose in the intestines, releasing toxins.

    You can also prevent infection with worms using folk remedies. Against roundworms (and only Dekaris affects them), you can use the following recipes.

    Chanterelles

    1. 3 tbsp. l. dried chanterelle powder pour 150 ml of vodka.
    2. Leave for 15 days in the refrigerator;
    3. Drink 1 tsp. overnight, after shaking (but not filtering!) the infusion.
    1. 1 tbsp. l. Brew 250 ml of boiling water with crushed herbs and celandine roots.
    2. Let cool, strain.
    3. Drink half before breakfast and half before lunch.
    4. Repeat for 3 days.

    Pumpkin seeds

    1. Eat 2 tbsp on an empty stomach. l. pumpkin seeds (for children and the elderly, they can be crushed).
    2. Take a large dose of laxative.
    3. Repeat the next day.

    Effect on the central nervous system

    The drug is not dangerous to the central nervous system if it is used in the correct dosages and strictly according to the instructions. But, taking into account the individual reactions of the body, side effects such as:

    • attacks of dizziness;
    • excessive excitability or, on the contrary, drowsiness;
    • nausea and vomiting;
    • seizures;
    • depression of consciousness.

    In most cases, all the effects that develop after Decaris disappear as soon as the person stops using the drug. This also applies to such serious consequences as depression of consciousness and convulsions. The main thing is to notice the onset of side effects in time and find an alternative to the drug if necessary, and not continue to take it.

    During the drug trial, cases of delayed encephalopathy were recorded, which developed several weeks after discontinuation of the drug.

    The main symptoms of encephalopathy are as follows:

    • memory disorders;
    • changes in consciousness;
    • attacks of headaches and dizziness;
    • depression;
    • decreased will;
    • increased fatigue;
    • weakness and irritability;
    • absent-mindedness;
    • pathological changes in sleep;
    • tearfulness, etc.

    What to do if delayed encephalopathy develops? Decaris is discontinued and glucocorticoid hormones are prescribed. Usually, delayed-onset encephalopathy can be eliminated if glucocorticoid hormones are started in a timely manner.

    Therapy for young mothers

    Doctors draw the attention of patients to the fact that this condition is a direct contraindication for any anthelmintic therapy. "Dekaris", like other tablets, is strictly prohibited. In case of helminthic infestation, it is allowed to use exclusively traditional medicine methods if there are no contraindications, for example, therapy with pumpkin seeds.

    For nursing mothers, the ban is less strict. On the recommendation of a doctor, they can start taking Decaris. However, it is recommended to interrupt breastfeeding for this period. Despite the gentle effects of the drug and low toxicity, there is still a danger to an infant.

    Broad-spectrum deworming tablets for humans

    Side effects of the anthelmintic drug indicated in the instructions:

    • insomnia, headache;
    • dizziness, rapid heartbeat;
    • convulsions, nausea, vomiting;
    • abdominal pain, diarrhea;
    • uterine bleeding, renal dysfunction;
    • encephalopathy (reversible, eliminated by glucocorticosteroid therapy);
    • allergic reactions: skin rash, itching, burning;
    • large doses can lead to leukopenia, tremor, and agranulocytosis.
  • headaches;
  • sleep disorders;
  • vestibular disorders;
  • tachycardia;
  • involuntary muscle contractions;
  • feeling of nausea;
  • gagging;
  • painful sensations in the abdomen;
  • loose stools;
  • signs of allergies;
  • skin rashes;
  • non-inflammatory brain diseases;
  • decrease in the number of leukocytes per unit volume of blood;
  • neutropenia;
  • involuntary trembling of the limbs.
  • After finishing taking the medication, all side effects disappear and the patient’s condition improves.

  • perchlorethylene;
  • chenopodium;
  • methyl trichloride;
  • Features of the impact

    “Dekaris” is considered a gentle remedy, since the action is based not on toxicological poisoning, but on a paralyzing effect. Its goal is not to destroy parasites, but to limit their viability. It causes muscle paralysis in worms, due to which they are practically immobilized and lose the ability to resist natural elimination from the body. As a result, within a day or a little more, the parasites leave the human body. The efficiency is due to the main component - levamisole hydrochloride. It immediately enters the liver, where it breaks down into substances that are simpler in structure.

    Treatment according to the Kravchenko system

    Recently, some people have gained confidence in the “teachings” of the so-called healer Ksenia Kravchenko, who is trying to prove that she uses a treatment method developed by the holy martyr Seraphim (Chichagov) more than 100 years ago.

    In his “methodology,” Kravchenko suggests using huge doses of Decaris to treat cancer, endocrine diseases, and metabolic disorders. She claims that the worms rejected by the body after taking Decaris are demons (in another version, sins) leaving a person.

    Official medicine also has an extremely negative attitude towards the activities of Ksenia Kravchenko. and the Orthodox Church. Kravchenko was suspended from medical practice and deprived of her medical diploma for promoting illiterate actions clearly aimed at harming people. The use of Decaris in the dosages proposed by Kravchenko leads to an imbalance of the immune system, damage to the bone marrow, a decrease in leukocytes in the blood and other, even unpredictable, consequences.

    The Orthodox Church is outraged by the use of the name of the Hieromartyr Seraphim for personal gain. Bishop Seraphim (in the world - Chichagov) was a doctor by training, and developed a system of herbal treatment, which, combined with moderation in diet and abstinence from bad habits, was designed to support the health of parishioners.

    Dekaris has no analogues for the active substance.

    In terms of therapeutic effect, the following anthelmintic drugs are analogues of Dekaris:

    • Vermox;
    • Pyrantel;
    • Helminthox;
    • Mebendazole and Vero-Mebendazole;
    • Piperazine;
    • Vormin;
    • Biltricide;
    • Pyrvinium pamoate;
    • Medamin;
    • Telmox;
    • Nemozol;
    • Pumpkin seeds ;
    • Tansy flowers, etc.

    There are both positive and negative reviews about the use of Dekaris. Negative reviews are associated with side effects in patients. The most common complaints are general weakness, dizziness, and headaches. as well as nausea, vomiting, and impaired sense of smell.

    However, there are no complaints about the ineffectiveness of Dekaris in the treatment of helminthic infestations.

    The cost of the drug Dekaris in various pharmacies ranges from 60 to 80 rubles (depending on the dosage).

    Before use, you should consult a specialist.

    In our family, a cat was wormed, so we decided to give it a drink for prevention. We drank it at night, after about 30 minutes I felt bad, the smell changed, I felt dizzy, I felt feverish, I went to bed, I couldn’t sleep for half the night, everything was burning inside, I was scared to turn around. Everything is fine in the morning. My husband is still sleeping, I didn’t have time to ask about his condition, but before going to bed he said that he wasn’t feeling well either. I decided for myself that I would never take these pills again in my life!

    Hello. what n. daisies, tansy, enema weapons. Dirty old wives' tales! Until now, the brain could not catch up with the fact that eating too much garlic is guaranteed to cleanse the body of all sorts of scum. To avoid the stink, you don’t need to chew it, chop three or four slices into pieces with a knife, maybe smaller, maybe larger, and wash it down with water.

    Within a week, before going to bed, the intestines are cleared of parasites, cholesterol, which is harmful to the heart, goes away, you lose weight, and your teeth become stronger. Garlic is a natural antibiotic. All sorts of old wives' tales have bullied and tortured people, the doctor businessman is pushing his worthless pills, they have only learned to sell bullshit wheels and poison people.

    Olga August 14, 2019 08:57

    Regarding the ineffectiveness they wrote about pinworms, I want to object! When undergoing treatment, do not forget about hygiene during treatment, because... self-infection is possible! One female worm lays several thousand eggs, which can be spread everywhere through underwear and bedding, unwashed hands, etc. Therefore, it is necessary to take the drug again after 2 weeks, because new female worms begin to reproduce 3 weeks after entering the body, i.e. It is necessary to exclude the formation of new eggs.

    After taking Decaris in the morning I really wanted to go to the toilet, but one could say that I gave birth to a hedgehog through the anus. Very long and painful. The constipation is unbearable. Anyone interested can read that when poisoning parasites, some of them block the intestinal patency. So I recommend drinking decaris at night and a few minutes later drinking laxative herbs.

    In general, I recommend brewing 8 herbs, 1 teaspoon each: St. John's wort, chamomile, yarrow, wormwood, oak bark, buckthorn bark, wormwood, tansy. All this is poured into 700 ml of boiling water. Leave in a water bath for 15 minutes. Then another 8 hours. Strain. Take half a glass on an empty stomach for 10 days, then take a break for 3 days. Then again 10 days. Hello!

    Dear author of the article Sokolova L.S. you inattentively listened to Kravchenko. She clearly said that you need to take decaris according to the scheme 3 times for 3 days and this is the work of a medical student, and not the holy martyr Chichagov. And thank her very much. We tested dekaris on ourselves, taking into account body weight, the result was amazing.

    In order to destroy pinworms, special drugs are not always needed: the parasite lives for about a month, and if you follow the rules of personal hygiene, you can prevent re-infection. But roundworms that parasitize the intestines for at least a year are best killed with medications.

    Decaris has remained one of the most popular and effective for decades. It has always had good reviews from parasitologists, and the price is quite reasonable for the buyer. Its active ingredient is levamisole, which causes paralysis of smooth muscles in worms.

    The human intestines continue to contract, pushing food through, and the worms can no longer gain a foothold on it and are released. The instructions for the drug allow the use of decaris for the treatment of ascariasis, hookworm disease, toxoplasmosis, enterobiasis, strongyloidiasis.

    In addition to helping fight roundworms, the drug is also an immunostimulant, increasing the production of antibodies, as well as the proliferation of T-lymphocytes. The drug enhances adhesion and phagocytosis, helping to fight acute and chronic infections. As an immunomodulator, decaris has found its use in the treatment of malignant tumors, leukemia and lymphogranulomatosis and various immunodeficiencies.

    The medicine also has side effects: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or diarrhea. In severe cases, fever, convulsions, insomnia, uterine bleeding or agranulocytosis may occur.

    The drug is used once at a dose of 150 mg.

    2.2 Albendazole

    Not only decaris is used against helminth infections, but also its analogue, which has received positive reviews from parasitologists: albendazole.

    Contraindications

    Before starting treatment with Decaris, you should consult a doctor who will first conduct a peripheral blood test and then monitor the number of leukocytes during treatment, since the drug has a noticeable effect on these indicators, causing severe disorders.

    There are contraindications to taking Decaris:

    • individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
    • a history of agranulocytosis;
    • pregnancy or breastfeeding;
    • age up to three years.

    Drinking Decaris at the same time as alcohol is not allowed.

    An overdose of the drug can be felt when taking more than 500 mg of the drug per day. In this case, signs of poisoning appear:

    • dizziness;
    • headache;
    • diarrhea;
    • nausea;
    • vomit;
    • periodic seizures;
    • drowsiness.

    In this case, you should do a gastric lavage, and then monitor the state of the basic functions of the body.

    general characteristics

    The drug is of Hungarian origin. It has not only anthelmintic, but also an immunomodulatory effect. Recommended for use when infected with various types of helminths.

    The drug is available for children and adults separately. In addition to the dosage (children's medicine has a lower concentration of the active substance), the difference is also in the presence of flavoring. To make it easier to take, the tablets for little ones contain food coloring and have a pleasant apricot aroma. The “adult” dosage has no odor.

    Dekaris how long can you drink alcohol?

    Home / Is it possible? / Dekaris how long can you drink alcohol

    Timely diagnosis for helminthic infestation will help a person determine the presence of parasites in his body and begin treatment on time. This will relieve many unpleasant symptoms and consequences of the reproduction and vital activity of helminths. At the current time, one of the popular and frequently prescribed medications for helminthiasis is Decaris. It is interesting to know not only how this drug treats, but also whether it is possible to combine Decaris with alcohol.

    Many people are concerned about what is included in the medicine before taking medication. The anthelmintic drug Dekaris belongs to the class of synthetic drugs that have a rapid anthelmintic effect. The main active substance is levamisole. It also contains an adrenal hormone, which is why Dekaris can be used as an immunomodulator, but doctors resort to this quite rarely.

    Before prescribing a drug to remove worms from the body, doctors determine the type of parasites that have entered the intestines. According to medical research, Decaris has a good effect against parasites such as:

    The studies also proved that this medication can be used for intestinal acne, toxoplasma and necator. However, the medicine has no effect on parasites classified as tapeworms and bloodsucking parasites.

    One of the important questions that patients ask concerns the principle of action of the medication prescribed to them. Decaris, as an anthelmintic drug, has the following effect on parasites: its constituent components, together with metabolites secreted by the liver, cause paralysis in worms and block the possibility of development and reproduction. Subsequently, the parasites have no choice but to leave the environment that has become aggressive for them.

    All leading experts argue that combining medication with alcoholic beverages is not a sign of logical patient behavior. Even if the instructions for use of the drug do not provide for any contraindications regarding alcohol, this does not mean that you can drink alcohol. In many cases, the effect of treatment will not be as high or good due to alcohol intake.

    Decaris and alcohol are incompatible! Experts emphasize to the patient that alcohol and medications containing alcohol should not be taken within 24 hours before taking Dekaris and for 24 hours after the drug enters the body. This is due to the fact that levamisole, like alcohol, can have an effect on the human nervous system. In most cases, the consequences of violating the doctor’s recommendations for taking and compatibility of the medication manifest themselves in a more protracted process of healing from helminthic infestation.

    Decaris, as an anthelmintic drug, acts quite quickly and helps well in the presence of parasites with a developed muscular system. Compliance with all the recommendations given by a specialist will only help ensure that the worms quickly leave the human body. And remember the main rule - do not combine Decaris with alcohol, so as not to suffer from possible problems and complications due to the incorrect process of taking medications.

    source

    Treatment of many diseases, including helminthiasis, involves the use of drug therapy. The drugs taken within its framework make it possible to reduce the intensity of destructive processes, destroy parasites and combat the consequences of their presence in the body.

    However, the direct cost of the effectiveness of drugs is their toxicity. In this regard, it would be relevant to remember the old saying: “we treat one thing, we cripple another.” Therefore, one or another anthelmintic should be used strictly as prescribed by a doctor.

    Failure to comply with the dose or frequency of administration can cause serious harm to the body. This also applies to compliance with the rules for taking the drug. In particular, to limit the use of a particular product together with an antiparasitic agent. For example, the anthelmintic Dekaris and alcohol.

    Decaris is an anthelmintic drug based on levamisole, which, in addition to its antiparasitic properties, also has immunomodulatory properties. Available only in the form of tablets for oral administration.

    Available in two dosages - containing 150 and 50 mg of active substance, respectively. The first are intended for use by adults, the second for children. To make it easier for children to take the medicine, food coloring (orange) and flavoring (apricot) are added to the “children’s” tablet.

    The pharmacological effect of Dekaris is to block the muscle fibers of helminths, which leads to their paralysis and death. Over the next 24 hours, the dead parasites leave the body naturally.

    The anthelmintic is most effective against parasitic worms that have a developed muscle complex. For helminths, which have the ability to firmly adhere to the intestinal walls, this drug causes virtually no harm. These include tapeworms and so-called flukes (liver and others).

    The properties of Decaris as an immunomodulator include the activation of certain types of lymphocytes, the active actions of which lead to stimulation of the immune system.

    The use of an anthelmintic solely as an immunomodulatory agent is unjustified due to its high toxicity.

    The main indications for the use of the drug are infection with the following types of helminths:

    • roundworms;
    • pinworms;
    • whipworms;
    • hookworms;
    • necators;
    • toxoplasma;
    • intestinal acne.

    It is advisable to take Decaris during a meal, although you can take it immediately after it. Most often, a single dose of the drug is enough. To control re-infestation, you can repeat the dose, but not earlier than after 10-14 days.

    The exception is toxoplasmosis; upon diagnosis, an extended course of 3 days is prescribed. Moreover, the course will need to be repeated 1-2 more times with a break between them of at least a week.

    For adults, the dosage is 150 mg of the active substance, that is, one tablet. For children, the dose is calculated individually, most often based on the child’s body weight - this reduces the likelihood of side effects.

    Other doctors adhere to age limits:

    • from 3 to 6 years - up to 50 mg of active substance;
    • from 6 to 10 years - up to 75 mg;
    • from 10 to 14 years - up to 100 mg or two children's tablets.

    The list of contraindications for Dekaris contains the following items:

    • pregnancy;
    • lactation period (breastfeeding);
    • patient age under 3 years;
    • bone marrow diseases;
    • individual intolerance to components.

    You should be careful when prescribing the drug to patients with various kidney or liver pathologies. The effects of anthelmintic on these organs can aggravate the situation.

    In some cases, side effects may occur when taking Decaris.

    • nausea, possibly with vomiting;
    • diarrhea;
    • pain in the intestinal area;
    • migraine;
    • elevated temperature;
    • sleep disturbance;
    • lack of coordination;
    • olfactory hallucinations;
    • dizziness;
    • allergic skin reactions accompanied by itching;
    • renal failure.

    Drinking alcohol in itself can be dangerous for the body, especially excessive consumption of drinks containing it. The alcohol contained in most alcoholic beverages is harmful to overall health.

    All body systems suffer:

    • gastrointestinal tract;
    • central nervous system;
    • the cardiovascular system;
    • genitourinary system;

    Taking the drug during pregnancy

    As a rule, pregnancy is a contraindication when using Decaris. Since the medicine has toxic properties and can negatively affect not only the expectant mother, but also the child. Therefore, in most cases, doctors try not to prescribe this drug to pregnant women.

    It is also necessary to refrain from using anthelmintic drugs during breastfeeding. Because the components of Decaris are very quickly absorbed into the gastrointestinal tract and spread throughout the body, reaching breast milk. Because of this, the child may suffer significantly, side effects or severe intoxication of the body may develop.

    Therefore, the drug is prescribed only when absolutely necessary, but in this case the woman should stop breastfeeding and transfer the child to artificial feeding.

    You cannot use Decaris during pregnancy on your own initiative; the drug should only be prescribed by a doctor.

    Contraindications for the medication

    The following conditions are considered contraindications to taking Dekaris:

    1. Hypersensitivity to the drug or its component.
    2. The period of pregnancy and lactation.
    3. The development of agronulocytosis, which is associated with a sharp decrease in the synthesis of agronulocyte cells in the bone marrow.
    4. Decaris is not prescribed for children under 3 years of age.
    5. Anthelmintic drugs should be used with caution in case of renal and liver failure, or in the presence of acute leukemia.

    Pay attention! In childhood, a child should not be given Decaris 150 mg, so when treating parasitic infections, special attention should be paid to this.

    Decaris: how and when to use, reviews from parasitologists

    Despite the stereotype that mainly children suffer from helminthic infestations, today statistics report different indicators - the number of adults with this disease is sometimes much higher.

    If we talk about ascariasis, this parasite disease is undoubtedly more common in adults, like hookworm. Both diseases must be treated as early as possible with a special group of drugs that are designed to treat these types of parasites. As practice has shown, the sooner therapy begins, the easier it is for human health and the much faster the parasites and their offspring will be destroyed, and also removed from the inside.

    Description of Decaris against parasites

    Among all kinds of anthelmintic drugs, Decaris for worms takes its rightful place. It gently and effectively leads to the death of all helminths, after which they are naturally eliminated from the human body without harm to health. The main component of the pest control substance is levamisole, to which several other active and auxiliary components are added.

    The manufacturers of the drug claim that after the first dose of Dekaris, all harmful inhabitants of the human internal organs will be completely destroyed after 24 hours. In addition, Dekaris compares favorably with other anthelmintic drugs in that it has an additional immunostimulating effect on the body. Visually, it is presented in the form of tablets, the dosage is supposed to be different depending on the age of the patient - 50 and 150 mg.

    This product is sold in pharmacies only with a prescription from a parasitologist. The average price for Dekaris will fluctuate around 70-82 rubles, this depends only on the pricing policy of the pharmacy and the region where sales are carried out. Wormil, Vermox, Pirantel and the no less famous Helmintox are considered worthy analogues of Dekaris.

    Levamisole as part of the drug immediately leads to paralysis of the parasite, then leads to its detachment from the mucous membrane and the complete removal of dead parasites from the inside within 24 hours after consuming the tablet. And it is possible to restore the body after the vital activity of parasites thanks to the immunostimulation of the drug. Before starting treatment, you should carefully study the instructions for the drug, indications and contraindications, and also familiarize yourself with the list of side effects.

    Indications for use

    As has already become clear, the main indication for taking Dekaris is infection with any type of helminths, in particular:

    • ascariasis;
    • hookworm;
    • trichostrongylosis;
    • trichocephalosis;
    • strongyloidiasis;
    • necatoriasis;
    • toxoplasmosis;
    • enterobiasis.

    If you do not follow such instructions, you can provoke side effects that will subsequently require medical treatment. Before taking, you should observe the dosage of the active component Decaris levamisole in tablets according to the person’s age and weight category.

    Detailed instructions for admission

    In order to remove helminthic infestations and their metabolic products from the body as quickly as possible without harm to health, the dosage of the drug should be strictly observed according to the patient’s age.

    Decaris for children

    For children aged 3 years and older, the drug is produced in a special dosage of the active ingredient levamisole - 50 mg. In addition, the tablets contain a food coloring of a characteristic light orange hue, as well as a special apricot-scented flavoring to make it pleasant for the child to take the tablet.

    Since the drug has a considerable list of side effects, it is important to consult a doctor before starting to treat your child with this medicine. The drug will be dispensed at the pharmacy only with a prescription from a parasitologist. He also calculates the dosage of levamisole according to the child’s body weight - one tablet per 10 kg of the patient’s weight.

    Thus, we can indicate approximate dosages according to the age of the child: from 3 to 6 years, approximately 25-50 mg, from 6 to 10 years, about 50-75 mg, from 10 to 14 years, 75-100 mg of levamisole hydrochloride is acceptable. But relying purely on the child’s age is risky; it is better to calculate body weight in parallel with age. The calculated amount of the drug should be taken in the evening, during the last meal. The diet does not need correction; after 1-2 weeks, you can re-take the preventive measure.

    Decaris against worms for adults

    In this case, the standard dosage of the active component levamisole hydrochloride is 150 mg per adult patient. To take the tablet, choose the evening time of day; during the last meal, the tablet is washed down with water. For treatment, a single dose is sufficient, but, as a rule, parasitologists recommend repeating therapy after 1-2 weeks to prevent the risks of re-infection. It is also permissible to take Decaris without the presence of helminthic infestations, but purely for preventive purposes.

    Contraindications and side effects

    The first thing you need to know before taking a drug for any disease is a list of contraindications, warning which categories of people the drug is prohibited for use.

    The medicine Dekaris is contraindicated:

    1. Women who are breastfeeding, since the chemical composition of the drug can be absorbed into breast milk and passed along to the baby.
    2. Pregnant women, since some toxic components of the drug can be absorbed into the placenta, where the fetus is located.
    3. For children under 3 years of age, the active components of the drug may affect the immature child’s body.
    4. Patients with a history of agranulocytosis.
    5. Patients diagnosed with renal failure as well as liver failure.
    6. People who have an individual intolerance to one or another component in Dekaris.

    In addition, the drug should be taken with caution by those people who have disorders in the hematopoietic system (especially if it is leukemia). Before taking the medicine, you should take into account the peculiarities of its interaction with other drugs. It is forbidden to drink alcoholic beverages during therapy with Decaris.

    Side effects may occur due to irrational use of the drug and failure to comply with contraindications. Most often they occur as a result of an overdose:

    • pain in the head area;
    • dizziness;
    • convulsive manifestations;
    • tachycardia;
    • sleep disturbance;
    • pain symptoms in the abdominal area;
    • gagging, nausea;
    • manifestation of an allergic reaction, for example, skin rash and itching;
    • encephalopathy is less common.

    And if mild symptoms of overdose and side effects during therapy go away on their own over time, then serious disorders require additional treatment.

    Interaction of Decaris with other drugs

    The first thing you need to remember is how to take Decaris. It should not be consumed while drinking alcohol. Such mixing usually leads to disulfiram-like phenomena. Therefore, in order to avoid side effects and the need for additional therapy, it is better to abstain from alcohol during the treatment of helminths.

    Any medications that affect the hematopoietic system should be taken with caution in parallel with Decaris. Most often, the active components of two medications can negatively affect each other.

    Taking Dekaris and a product that contains coumarin-like anticoagulants, the expected prothrombin time is most often extended. In this regard, an experienced physician will definitely correct the dose of the oral anticoagulant. According to clinical tests, it has been established that Dekaris is capable of increasing the level of phenytoin in the blood, therefore, during therapy, they should be observed by a doctor if necessary.

    It is strictly forbidden to mix Dekaris therapy with taking lipophilic drugs (for example, chloroform or ether, tetrachlorethylene, chenopodium oil or carbon tetrachloride). As a result of such mixing, the toxicity of Dekaris can increase significantly.

    Dekaris: reviews from parasitologists

    Infectious disease doctor Anatoly Sergeevich.

    I have been working with both adults and children for quite a long time. Work experience as an infectious disease specialist has exceeded 10 years. Among all the different drugs that I used to treat patients for helminth infestations, I consider Decaris to be the most effective. But many patients are confused by the list of expected consequences of such therapy. For how many years I have been prescribed Decaris, practically no one has experienced any complications. Only those people who have weaknesses in the gastrointestinal tract sometimes complained of abdominal pain, nausea and diarrhea. The main rule for taking such a medicine is that you are not allergic to levamisole.

    Pediatrician Elizaveta Vitalievna.

    Unfortunately, in the modern world of information technology and innovation, children still often suffer from worms. And throughout my medical practice, I came across several drugs with which I treated children. Among them, Dekaris occupies a worthy place, although I also liked its analogues. The main advantage of Dekaris is fast therapy and a single dose.

    Therapist Marina Viktorovna.

    Very often patients come to me with the problem of parasites. As a physician with 20 years of experience, I know first-hand about the effectiveness of Dekaris in such matters. Even I myself had to deal with such a disease as a child, since two dogs live in our house. Therefore, I prescribe this drug to patients with 100% confidence.

    Distinctive advantage of Dekaris

    The first thing that stops many patients with helminthic infestation from taking Decaris is the list of side effects. But it is worth understanding that the likelihood of their occurrence is quite low. If you strictly follow the dosages indicated by the parasitologist and read the list of contraindications, the manifestation of the negative side of therapy is unlikely.

    The main advantage of treating worms with this remedy is a single dose of the tablet. There is no need to take the medicine for a long time, loading the liver and other important internal organs with the chemical composition of the medicine. The effective effect on helminthic infestations lasts only 24 hours. After this, all parasites, their offspring and waste products are eliminated from the body, and the components of Decaris provide an immunostimulating effect.

    Roundworms belong to the family of roundworms, cause many inflammatory diseases and can infect the intestines, lungs and even the human brain. The consequences of such symbiosis lead to serious diseases. The likelihood of infection with roundworm eggs is extremely high. It survives outside the body for a long time, waiting for a new owner.

    The parasite can survive winter frosts while remaining in a form suitable for infection. Thousands of eggs are found in soil, furniture, animal hair and outdoor yards. They are very light and are carried by wind and dust. So what are the symptoms of ascariasis in adults? Let's consider all the manifestations of roundworm in the human body.

    Types of roundworms, symptoms of infection

    The human body has a complex immune system, which has several levels of defense. Parasites adapt to constantly changing survival conditions. Thus, the roundworm egg has 5 shells and, when placed in the aggressive environment of the stomach, can withstand the attack of hydrochloric acid. Only when it enters the intestines does the larva emerge from under its roof. To prevent the immune system from recognizing it as a harmful organism, the roundworm secretes an enzyme that lulls the vigilance of phagocytes.

    The surface of the roundworm is covered with cells similar to the tissues of the intestinal environment. Due to this feature, the parasite is able to exist in the body without causing local inflammation. The toxic substances that the worm secretes cause changes in the microflora of the intestine or other organ, most often where it lives.

    The egg is capable of maturing to the invasive stage under favorable conditions. The air temperature should be about 25 degrees, humidity and access to oxygen are required. If this environmental condition does not work out, the larva will wait in its house for several months and then die. The egg ripening period is 14 days. In its invasive form, roundworm awaits a host for up to six months. It is capable of developing even in unfavorable conditions, but the ripening period can take up to two months.

    The main source of infection is people and animals, or rather, their waste products. The eggs pass out of the body in feces and live in soil or greenery. Pets on walks pick up roundworms on their fur, which ends up on furniture and flooring in the house. A large amount of the parasite is found in the soil; in chernozem, the lifespan of the larvae is much longer.

    To become infected, you must introduce an roundworm egg through your mouth. The dimensions are very small and it is capable of rising into the air with dust during dry cleaning of premises. It remains in a weightless state for up to 15 minutes, just at the level of the human respiratory system. Therefore, dry cleaning of public premises is prohibited.

    Ways of infection with roundworm in adults

    When throwing more than 200 thousand eggs per litter, the likelihood of infection is high. With proper treatment, the parasite is not dangerous and is eliminated from the body quite quickly. It is more important to notice the symptoms after infection in order to prevent inflammatory processes in the roundworm’s organ. The difficulty of hatching is associated with the extraordinary fertility of individuals; the eggs are so small that they can be carried through the blood vessels to all parts of the body. The accumulation of larvae causes small blood clots in the circulatory system and leads to blood stagnation.

    Paths of invasion are related to sanitary and hygienic conditions indoors and outdoors. Unwashed hands or foods that have been exposed to the parasite serve as a source of human infection. Insects are directly involved in the spread of infection. The photo shows the organs through which the larvae pass after infestation. It shows that they pass through almost all parts of the body, causing blood clots in any part of the body. An adult female grows to a size of 40 cm and you can imagine how much energy an individual requires to throw eggs.

    The largest number of eggs is found in the soil. Gardeners have the greatest chance of infection; when working with soil, the parasite gets lodged under the fingernails. A bad habit of biting your nails will lead to swallowing roundworms. Children spread the infection in the yard; the main source of infection is the sandbox. Cats and dogs leave their feces in it in the morning and at night, and by lunchtime the kids are happy with the toys and scatter them all over the playground. The eggs cling to soles and toys, and mothers and children carry the parasites home.

    With pulmonary infestation, a person may cough; roundworm larvae are released with sputum and can pose a danger to loved ones. They cannot exist for a long time without a shell, but if they immediately get on the mucous membrane of another person, infection will occur. Parasites are afraid of ordinary wet cleaning and temperature exposure. Often, curtains in an apartment have not been washed for years, and this is where helminth eggs accumulate. Children's hands always reach them and bring the infection into their mouth.

    Invasion and ways of prevention

    Rainwater and melting snow washes the roundworm out of the soil and carries it into reservoirs and rivers. When swimming in a pond, there is a possibility of invasion, but it is extremely small. More frequent cases have been reported when drinking tap or well water. Eggs are sensitive to temperature; in the sun, under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, they dry out and can no longer pose a danger. Therefore, playgrounds are placed on the sunny side of the yard to naturally disinfect surfaces.

    To destroy parasites in drinking water, it is enough to heat it to 60 degrees and maintain it for 2 minutes at this temperature. This process is called pasteurization, harmful microbes are killed. Thus, products such as beer and milk are disinfected. Once in the human body, the larvae require oxygen to mature and travel through the vessels to the lungs. There, they mature and return to the gastrointestinal tract with sputum. The adult moves into the intestine, where it can live for the rest of its life. It is about a year of parasitism. The worm has a pointed shape at its ends and therefore easily moves along the entire intestine through semi-digested food.

    Modern hypermarkets have become a breeding ground for a huge number of bacteria and nematodes. The most favorite places for parasites are cart handles and toilets. Scientists have calculated that there are more than 2 thousand parasites per centimeter of a pen. Every person who comes to the store is a carrier of infection. Good hygiene helps keep your hands clean, but the food remains contaminated. The best way out of such a difficult situation is to learn to live in harmony with microorganisms.

    Some species can live in humans without causing significant damage to health. As long as the balance is maintained in a certain quantitative ratio, inflammation does not occur. If reproduction begins to manifest itself actively and repeated infection from the outside is added, then the immune system fails and inflammatory processes begin to develop. It is not possible to completely get rid of harmful parasites. A person needs them to maintain the life of the body.

    Symptoms of ascariasis in the intestines

    There are particularly dangerous microorganisms that require urgent treatment. Ascaris is not such. A person can live his whole life without feeling its presence. Generations of worms may pass without symptoms being present in a state of strong immunity. Dangerous parasites are: malarial plasmodium and toxoplasmosis. They are deadly to humans and treatment is needed immediately.

    Living ascaris in the intestines causes a decrease in immunity, and this inevitably leads to other complications. For roundworm, the symptoms are typically indirect. Direct consequences of ascariasis include gastrointestinal disorders: diarrhea and constipation. But since they can be caused by the causes of many diseases and by eating the wrong foods, it is easy to confuse such signs. The direct consequence is mechanical damage to the mucous membranes during the migration of larvae. Damage can only be detected by probing, often by accident. The diagnosis can only be confirmed by stool analysis and detection of larvae or the worm itself in it.

    In practice, doctors observe indirect signs of parasites; roundworms also have them. In the intestines, the harmful effects of toxins from the vital activity of the parasite can lead to dysbiosis and pancreatitis. Excessive appetite develops - roundworm requires a lot of energy and takes away nutrients and vitamins from a person. We list the symptoms of roundworm infestation:

    • decreased mental activity, pain in the head and stomach;
    • frequent colds: sore throat, fever and even fever;
    • increased sweating and disorders of the central nervous system;
    • allergic reactions that manifest as rash or goose bumps;
    • dry lips and skin of hands;
    • aversion to fatty foods, nausea and often vomiting develop;
    • chronic fatigue becomes everyday;
    • intestinal obstruction due to a large accumulation of helminths;
    • decrease in blood pressure.

    We are talking about roundworm symptoms when living in the intestines. During the period of larvae throwing, they are able to drill into the intestinal walls and cause plugs in the bile ducts, causing stagnation. This has an adverse effect on the entire digestive process. Due to a lack of vitamins, the entire human body suffers: hair on the head may even fall out.

    Symptoms of pulmonary ascariasis

    As the larvae move through the vessels, they penetrate into the human lungs. And to the listed symptoms are added additional signs of infection:

    • Constant cough with sputum in which larvae can be found. There is often blood in the sputum.
    • Tingling in the lungs and discomfort in the sternum.
    • When coughing, larvae can enter the bronchi. A person inevitably suffers from a sore throat and a constant runny nose. This is the cause of bronchial asthma and bronchitis.
    • There is a reaction from the visual system. A person's pupils are dilated and when light hits the pupil's reaction is very slow. A person may experience pain from bright light.
    • The larvae lead to the formation of ulcers in the lungs.

    Composition and description

    Decaris is an anthelmintic drug whose active substance is levamisole. The pharmacological effect of the drug is to act on the ganglion-like formations of helminths, which causes depolarizing neuromuscular paralysis of the muscles of parasitic worms. Succinate dehydrogenase is also blocked, fumarate dehydrogenase is inhibited, which causes a disruption in the bioenergetic processes of the worms. Subsequently, paralyzed parasites are removed from the gastrointestinal tract naturally within 1 day after using the medicine.

    Release form – Dekaris tablets of 50 and 150 mg. In addition to levamisole as an active substance, the product contains:

    • corn starch;
    • talc;
    • flavorings (contained only in 50 mg tablets);
    • povidone;
    • lactose;
    • Magnesium stearate.

    The effect of Decaris on helminths manifests itself quickly, the drug is easily absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract. The maximum concentration of the active substance in the blood is observed 2 hours after using the product. It is excreted from the body in the form of metabolites, the half-life is from 3 to 6 hours.

    What is Decaris used for, what are the indications for using the medicine? The product is used for infection with the following types of helminths:

    • roundworms;
    • necators;
    • hookworms.

    Many people are faced with the problem that Dekaris could not help against pinworms. This is usually associated with decreased intestinal motility and stool retention, which does not allow parasites to be eliminated from the body in a short time. But Decaris for pinworms is widely used due to its immunostimulating effect and relatively high efficiency.

    Main effects

    Decaris is used to poison parasites that have entered the human body. The effect of the drug is ensured by levamisole, the active substance of the drug. Most often, side effects of the drug occur in cases where it is prescribed for the treatment of ascariasis. Ascariasis is one of the most common helminthic diseases. This is especially common for parents of young children.

    Levamisole, acting as an active substance, effectively suppresses enzymatic activity in the cellular metabolism of roundworms. Such suppression leads to paralysis of the muscles of the parasites and their complete loss of mobility. After taking Dekaris, immobilized parasites are excreted in the feces.

    It is believed that the medication also strengthens the immune system.

    Previously, Decaris was used to stimulate children's immunity before the flu epidemic, which is considered a side effect.

    Now the drug is not used for these purposes, since there are more effective medications with fewer unwanted effects when used. In addition, many people feel ill after taking the drug.

    The immunostimulating effect of the drug is explained by its stimulation of T-lymphocytes, which stabilizes the general state of cellular immunity. Currently, using Decaris to stimulate the immune system is not advisable, since the risks outweigh the possible benefits.

    Parasitologists' answers to popular questions

    Here are the most common questions that concern patients, as well as reviews from parasitologists that will help get answers to them.

    Decaris during early pregnancy

    Unfortunately, there are often situations when the start of treatment coincides with the conception of a child. To begin with, we should give recommendations: before starting examination or therapy for a particular disease, take a pregnancy test. If you know about your situation, do not forget to notify your doctor about it.

    Decaris is contraindicated when pregnant. Therefore, if the drug causes harm to the fetus in the early stages, the pregnancy must be terminated.

    Important! If worms are detected in one of the family, all family members should undergo a preventive course.

    Disulfiram-like phenomena and Dekaris

    Leading experts argue that taking any drug with alcohol is not a logical behavior for the patient. If there are no contraindications for alcohol, then the person will not receive the desired effect from treatment. The consequences of combining Decaris and alcohol are a lingering result. Patients must stop drinking alcohol the day before treatment, as well as for another 24 hours after it.

    What parasites does it help with?

    The drug is prescribed for intestinal helminths, which are retained in the human body due to their muscle activity. Many people are concerned about the question: “Does Dekaris help with pinworms?” Yes, the drug is used for enterobiasis, the causative agent of which is pinworms. An anthelmintic is also prescribed for roundworms, whipworms, hookworms and nematodes. Decaris can be used for toxoplasma, necator and intestinal acne. But the drug is ineffective against Giardia and other tapeworms or flukes.

    How does Dekaris work against worms?

    Patients are often concerned about the question: “How does Decaris work?” After metabolites are removed from the liver, various processes occur in the human body that contribute to the destruction of worms. Glucuronide affects many microorganisms and paralyzes them. Therefore, worms cannot move, and most importantly, reproduce. They have one mission left - to get out.

    What happens after taking the drug?

    Levamisole penetrates into the body and disrupts the bioenergetic processes of worms, and also provokes the development of paralysis of their neuromuscular system. In a short time, the parasites leave the host during bowel movement. It is important to ensure that there is no stool retention. In rare cases, treatment may be accompanied by side effects. To ensure the effectiveness of the drug, it is necessary to be tested for the presence of parasite eggs. It is known that many helminths can penetrate subcutaneous tissues; in such cases, surgical intervention is required.

    How long does it take to work?

    Question: “When will the worms disappear after taking Decaris?” — patients ask no less often. Parasitologists answer that helminths usually leave the intestines 24–32 hours after taking the pill. But there are also individual cases when the worms come out only after three days. This is due to slow intestinal motility, which cannot remove dead, digested or semi-digested parasites from the body. Such cases involve eating fiber.

    The pills didn’t help - what to do?

    Possible reasons for the ineffectiveness of the drug:

    • disruption of the therapeutic process;
    • inappropriate dosage;
    • failure to comply with hygiene rules.

    In any case, you need to see a doctor and undergo all the necessary tests and scrapings. You may need to change your medication.

    Temperature from Dekaris

    Often in reviews you can find the comment: “After taking Dekaris, the temperature rose...”, what could this mean? Such a result is not possible from a single dose. Most likely, the patients' temperature is associated with another pathology. Another characteristic difference between this symptom is its duration. If this is a side effect, then its effect is short-lived.

    Important! Before using the drug, carefully read the instructions.

    How often can I take it?

    The drug should be taken as needed and only after consulting a doctor. Such situations include diagnoses: enterobiasis, ascariasis, necatoriasis, hookworm disease, toxoplasmosis, strongyloidiasis, trichuriasis. According to the instructions, a single dose of the tablet is required. For toxoplasmosis, the patient is prescribed a course of treatment, the timing of which is determined by the doctor.

    Use for psoriasis

    It is known that Decaris is also an immunomodulator. And since psoriasis develops against a background of weakened immunity, the drug was previously used to treat this skin disease. Today, there are gentler and more effective remedies for psoriatic plaques. Therefore, it is better to use specially developed drugs for treatment, since using Decaris on its own can lead to the development of side effects.
