  • Composition of the drug Reduxin

    Reduxin is a drug, it is prescribed by doctors after a thorough examination for the first stage of the fight against obesity. This is not a harmless dietary supplement, but a full-fledged medicine and you should drink it in accordance with the instructions with all precautions, because there are restrictions on use and some side effects. Reduxin capsules dull the feeling of hunger, a person eats little and therefore loses weight - this is the main principle of action. The drug Reduxin contains only two components: sibutramine and microcrystalline cellulose. Both have unique properties that are aimed at reducing weight, stimulating metabolic processes and reducing fat accumulation. Each of the components represents the following.

    Sibutramine

    The most important reason for obesity is a person’s love of eating food. Many manufacturers were looking for a substance that would give a feeling of fullness when eating a small amount of food. Sibutramine coped well with this problem because it has anorexigenic properties. Reviews of Reduxin capsules say that appetite is reduced and you can be perfectly satisfied with small portions of food. Another effect of this drug is the activation of thermogenesis.

    This is important: This substance has the ability to normalize the level of glucose and uric acid in the blood. Sibutramine removes harmful cholesterol from the body.

    In obese people, metabolic processes are disrupted and thermogenesis slows down - the body does not consume fat to heat itself, but accumulates it. The use of Reduxin tablets for weight loss is marked by a pleasant warming warmth throughout the body, metabolic processes are restored, thermogenesis is activated, and fat gradually begins to be used to heat the body.

    Microcrystalline cellulose

    Saturation does not occur if the stomach is empty. It is this component that is the food that sends signals to the brain about satiety without food. Cellulose swells, taking away harmful substances along with the liquid that are found in excess in the body of an overweight person.

    Review of analogues

    In addition to Reduxin, there are other drugs containing sibutramine. Let's look at some of them.

    The most famous remedy, the German Meridia, was discontinued due to the high risk of causing heart attacks and strokes. The same fate befell the Indian Slimia and the Czech Lindaksa.

    Goldline

    A drug produced by the Indian pharmaceutical company Ranbaxy and the domestic Izvarino. This remedy has the same indications, contraindications and side effects as Reduxin. It differs from the latter in its much lower price and in that there is only one active ingredient - sibutramine. According to reviews from patients with normal tolerance, the drug really suppresses appetite. And with this product you can lose an average of 1 to 3 kg per week.

    Goldline is a one-component capsule preparation with sibutramine

    Goldline Plus

    This anti-obesity remedy is produced by the same pharmaceutical companies as Goldline, but it already contains two active ingredients - sibutramine and microcrystalline cellulose. Goldline Plus is almost a complete analogue of Reduxin, with the only difference being that the price of the former is significantly lower.

    Two-component capsule drug for obesity with sibutramine and microcrystalline cellulose

    Both products are available in the form of 10 mg and 15 mg capsules and are intended for the treatment of second and third degree obesity.

    It is worth noting that the same pharmaceutical companies produce the dietary supplement Goldline Light, which, like Reduxin Light, has nothing to do with the drugs of the same name. The action of the supplement is based on L-carnitine-L-tartrate and alpha-lipoic acid. This drug is intended for patients struggling with excess body weight through active physical activity.

    Mechanism of action

    Reduxin is an innovative product, an improved sample and a new method of action. It has an amazing effect on the body without creating negative consequences, and leads to safe fat burning. When starting a weight loss course, most noted that body weight decreases from 500 g to 1000 g per week. Nutritionists note this indicator as the optimal rate for eliminating obesity.

    The effect of the drug Reduxin on the body is complex and has the following mechanism:

    • Significant decrease in appetite. After taking Reduxin tablets for weight loss, the feeling of hunger subsides for a long time. The feeling of pleasant satiety is maintained by small portions of food.
    • Active metabolism. If metabolic processes in the body occur quickly, then this requires a lot of calories, which, when burned, accelerate active weight loss.
    • Improved overall well-being. A person feels better due to the normalization of sugar and cholesterol in the body, thanks to the pills.
    • Optimal rate of weight loss. Weight loss from Reduxin capsules is quite slow, but this is not considered a disadvantage. This pace is more comfortable for the human body and does not develop a stressful state.
    • Long lasting effect. It is gradual weight loss that provides long-lasting results. After stopping taking the capsules, the lost kilograms will not return.

    To achieve proper and comfortable weight loss, you should read the instructions and user reviews. If you want to improve the effect of losing weight, then you need to eat right and choose sports to help you - those types of sports that an obese person can do.

    Mode of application

    To lose weight, you need to take one tablet in the morning on an empty stomach, or you can take it during breakfast. The tablet does not need to be chewed; take it with a glass of water. You need to start with 10 mg. If you feel unwell or have any other discomfort, reduce the dose to 5 mg. You can start taking 15 mg after a month if you tolerate the drug well and want to enhance the effect. If after three months you do not see any changes, then you should stop taking the pills. The drug can be used for no more than two years.

    To get the best results, taking the pills should be combined with exercise and diet. You need to regularly visit a specialist who will monitor the process, then the treatment of obesity will be correct.

    Instructions for use Reduxin

    How to take Reduxin correctly to lose weight is of interest to many obese people. The capsule dosage regimen is very convenient, which is explained by the demand for the drug. The drug capsule should be taken once a day, regardless of the time of eating. The package contains 60 capsules of Reduxin - this is enough for two months of taking them.

    This is important: Reduxin is prescribed only by highly specialized specialists in cases where traditional methods of losing weight have not yielded results or weight loss is very slow. When used correctly, the drug will help you get rid of 5 and sometimes 10 kg of excess weight per month.

    Experts recommend drinking them one at a time in the morning. If a side effect occurs after taking the capsule, the dose should be reduced to half a tablet and returned to the full dosage only after a month. If you feel well when using Reduxin, a month after the start of therapy, the doctor may increase the dose of the drug to one and a half tablets. The duration of the course of therapy is one year.

    Admission rules

    Reduxin is taken on the recommendation of doctors at any convenient time and regardless of meals. If poor tolerability of the drug is detected, you should contact your doctor to review the dosage. If a month after the start of treatment the weight has remained virtually unchanged, the doctor may increase the dose. The course of treatment lasts three months, but experts recommend taking Reduxin for six months to consolidate the effect. During this time, you can lose approximately 10 kg of excess weight, and in combination with physical activity, even double this result. The maximum duration of treatment is 1 year. Reduxin is not recommended to be combined with alcohol. If you are taking other medications, be sure to tell your doctor before starting treatment.

    The consonant drug Reduxin Light is somewhat different from Reduxin and is a dietary supplement, not a medicine. As an active substance, it contains conjugated polyunsaturated linoleic acid, which prevents the accumulation of fat in cells and tissues. Reduxin Light has no contraindications except pregnancy and lactation.

    Many women who have taken both Reduxin and Reduxin Light claim that it is Reduxin Light that has the greatest effect. This may be due to the fact that the active substance Reduxin only reduces the feeling of hunger, and the linoleic acid Reduxin Light directly fights fat deposits.

    Release form and cost

    The drug Reduxin is produced in the form of capsules. The shell consists of gelatin, water, glycerin and citric acid. You can purchase the drug in pharmacies or order it online from special pharmacies, where the price will be significantly lower. The cost of the drug Reduxin for weight loss depends on the packaging - the more capsules it contains, the lower the price.

    You can purchase the drug in the following packaging:

    • Capsules of 10 mg, 7-10 pieces on one plate, 1-6 plates per package.

    Expert opinion

    Smirnov Viktor Petrovich Dietitian, Samara

    As in the case of Goldline, the active component of Reduxin is sibutramine. It affects the satiety center and prevents the reuptake of norepinephrine, dopamine and serotonin in the structures of the central nervous system. Thus, the brain deceives itself, the feeling of satiety increases, and the need for food deceptively decreases. Who is Reduxin indicated for? Yes, it is used for weight loss, but only if a person has food, or nutritional, obesity. In this case, the body mass index is more than 30 or 27 or higher. In the second case, it is used if there is atherosclerosis (high level of atherogenic cholesterol fractions) or type 2 diabetes mellitus is diagnosed. If the patient has other causes of obesity, such as bulimia or hypothyroidism, then this is a contraindication for use. In addition, you cannot be treated with Geduxin or Goldline for cardiovascular diseases, tachycardia, as well as in the case of various cerebrovascular disorders, against the background of thyrotoxicosis, glaucoma, prostate hyperplasia, alcohol and drug addiction, persons under 18 and over 65 years of age, pregnant and lactating women. In addition, there is an extensive list of diagnoses when the drug should be used with caution.

    Thus, before using Reduxin, in addition to following the indications, the patient must undergo a thorough examination. Accordingly, it is under no circumstances recommended to use it as self-medication.

    During pregnancy and lactation

    Pregnancy and breastfeeding are contraindications for taking the drug.
    Reduxin is effective for weight loss, but it has a number of contraindications. This list includes pregnancy and breastfeeding, as there are no formal studies yet on the use of the medication in these circumstances.

    Doctors recommend that women of childbearing age use contraceptives when taking Reduxin. If, nevertheless, pregnancy occurs while using the medicine for weight loss, then immediately stop taking it, since the effect of sibutramine on the fetus has not been studied.

    The drug is contraindicated for expectant mothers, which is also mentioned in the instructions. The effect of its components on the fetus has not been studied, therefore, if necessary, Reduxin therapy should be protected. If pregnancy occurs, the drug should be stopped immediately.

    Side effects

    According to the results of a survey of people who went through the process of losing weight with Reduxin, side effects occur only at the beginning of taking the pills. Further appointments are easily tolerated if the patient adheres to the specialist’s recommendations. Side effects after taking Reduxin tablets include:

    • From the central nervous system - headache, dry mouth, change in taste and anxiety.
    • Cardiovascular system – increased blood pressure and increased heart rate.
    • Gastrointestinal system - nausea, loss of appetite, constipation.

    Sometimes there is increased sweating, itching of the skin, pain in the back and abdomen, swelling and drowsiness.

    Indications for use, dosage, features

    Reduxin is prescribed for weight loss in cases where less safe methods do not give the desired effect. At the same time, it is important to know the BMI value - it is the indication for taking the drug:

    1. BMI 27 kg/m2 for obesity combined with diabetes mellitus 2 degrees.
    2. BMI 30 kg/m2, as well as at higher rates.

    The use of Reduxin for weight loss in cases of BMI less than 27 kg/m2, according to official instructions, is contraindicated.

    Reduxin packaged 10 and 15 mg

    The dosage is developed by the doctor individually, depending on the patient’s body’s tolerance of the active substance, existing chronic diseases and other factors.

    Approximate regimen for taking Reduxin:

    1. The first 4 weeks – 10 mg/day (if the drug is poorly tolerated – 5 mg/day).
    2. If after the first stage a man has lost 5% of his body weight or more, the dosage is increased to 15 mg/day.
    3. If weight loss does not occur, the course of taking the drug does not exceed three months.
    4. If, after weight loss, an increase in body weight of more than 3 kg begins again, the drug is discontinued.
    5. If the course of therapy is favorable, the duration of the course should not exceed 1 year.

    It is advisable to start a weight loss course with 10 mg capsules, and if further treatment is necessary, switch to a 15 mg package.

    In the method of losing weight with Reduxin, what is important is a man’s sincere desire to lose excess weight. The tablets are prescribed in combination with a special diet and physical therapy; all doctor’s recommendations must be strictly followed.

    It is prohibited to take Reduxin on your own, without supervision from a doctor. The entire course must be monitored for pulse and blood pressure, especially if a man suffers from arterial hypertension. If the pressure rises to 145/90 mm Hg. Art., the drug should be discontinued and your doctor should be informed about your health. For the first 3 months, pulse and blood pressure readings should be checked every 14 days, then once a month. Men who snore during their sleep should be especially careful - they have a higher risk of a sharp rise in blood pressure.

    Contraindications

    There are also contraindications for taking Reduxin tablets for weight loss, which include:

    • Individual intolerance to components.
    • Organic nature of obesity.
    • Mental illnesses.
    • Treatment with drugs that affect the functioning of the central nervous system.
    • Serious heart and vascular diseases, arrhythmia.
    • Kidney and liver diseases.
    • Glaucoma.
    • Alcohol and drug addiction.
    • People under 18 and over 65 years of age.
    • Pathology of the coronary arteries.
    • Eating disorders such as bulimia.
    • For those whose work requires concentration.

    Doctors do not advise women who are pregnant or breastfeeding to take Reduxin diet pills.

    The effect of tablets on the condition and development of the fetus has not yet been confirmed by clinical trials. Before starting therapy with Reduxin tablets, you should consult your doctor about the selection of contraceptives.

    Important: The drug Reduxin is prescribed only after appropriate diagnosis of the body and on an individual basis.

    In order to quickly respond to side effects, from the first days of taking Reduxin tablets you need to monitor your blood pressure and pulse rate. When choosing Reduxin for weight loss, you should strictly follow the doctor’s recommendations and take the tablets in accordance with the prescribed dosage so that the weight loss process does not cause more harm to the body.

    Experts recommend not to chase quick results - the process of losing weight cannot be instantaneous. It is important that weight loss be slow - only with such competent weight loss will it not be able to return. If you choose to take medications as a means of losing weight, then you should take proven and safe ones, and begin the process of fighting weight after consultation with a specialist. Reviews and results about the effectiveness of Reduxin capsules indicate that the drug is quite harmless to health, although it has some side effects. It is important that it helps to lose weight, eliminating those hated kilograms.

    Reviews from patients and doctors

    Doctors do not always speak well of the drug Reduxin. It definitely suppresses hunger and simplifies the process of losing weight. But doctors note depression and other side effects in those taking the drug - this does not always happen and varies from case to case. The only good recommendation is to stop taking the drug when its negative effects on your health become obvious. However, it is best to lose weight in natural ways.

    Reduxin has a lot of reviews from those losing weight, that is, from the patients themselves. Most of them note that the product perfectly suppresses appetite. At the same time, weight loss results, if measured in kilograms, are not always impressive. It’s not surprising - after all, people hope that they will lose weight without making any effort. Serious results can only be achieved by being active, changing your daily diet and including physical activity in your life.

    Indications

    Sibutramine was developed from the very beginning as an antidepressant. Then it became one of many drugs repurposed to treat completely different diseases, including “helping” diet. Until 2008, Reduxin was prescribed for:

    • bulimia - overeating caused by psychogenic trauma, the antipode of anorexia;
    • depression - which is often accompanied by a craving for overeating due to the presence of a strong reflex relationship between satiety and a feeling of comfort and well-being;
    • obesity - all its cases, including those that occur due to temporary hormonal imbalance (pregnancy, postpartum background changes in women, menopause in both sexes), as well as endocrine pathologies such as diabetes;
    • hypotension - a relatively rare disorder that is expressed in low blood pressure instead of the typical high blood pressure;
    • cardiovascular diseases - atherosclerosis and its complications such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, heart attack and stroke.

    But the results of monitoring the massive and long-term use of the drug led first to a narrowing of the range of its prescriptions, and then to the introduction of restrictions on its sale and the addition of the drug to the list of doping substances prohibited for use by athletes. Now the list of indications for the use of Reduxin is limited to nutritional (caused by overeating and/or physical inactivity) obesity with or without complications such as diabetes mellitus.

    Restrictions

    Sibutramine significantly interferes with the functioning of the central nervous system. This property is its main harm in some pathologies accompanied by a set of extra pounds. Bulimia and depression, as mental pathologies with a physiological “continuation,” were among the first to disappear from the list of drug prescriptions, becoming contraindications. “Reduxin” turned out to be a bad antidepressant due to a pronounced “reset” in insomnia, increased anxiety, and suicidal thoughts after a period of serotonin euphoria caused by its use.

    Among the ways of obesity in which its use is acceptable, everything except overeating has been eliminated. Reduxin's increase in blood flow speed, vascular tone, heart rate and body temperature was initially perceived as a positive property that promoted the absorption of glucose from food and weight loss. But it turned out that its long-term use also accelerates the wear and tear of the cardiovascular system and the development of atherosclerosis, and increases complications. An overdose of Reduxin can cause arrhythmia and cardiac arrest.

    Such damage to the heart and blood vessels is comparable to the long-term consequences of atherosclerosis, although initially stimulating their activity was supposed to reduce its rate. Currently, taking Reduxin is contraindicated in the following conditions.

    • For cholelithiasis. Due to its increased tone and peristalsis of all organs controlled by the central nervous system, including the gallbladder. The use of "Reduxin" for gallstones can provoke their displacement.
    • For pathologies of the liver and kidneys. With their obesity, cirrhosis, hepatitis, urolithiasis, nephritis, renal failure. The breakdown and absorption of sibutramine, like other drugs, is carried out primarily by the liver, and its elimination by the kidneys. The accumulation of its metabolites in the blood can lead to an inadequately strong “acceleration” of the central nervous system with an equally pronounced subsequent inhibition.
    • With organic obesity. For example, provoked by diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism (decreased production of thyroxine and triiodothyronine by the thyroid gland).
    • For neurological disorders. For Tourette's syndrome, tics, neurasthenia.
    • In combination with mental illness. For example, with paranoia, manic-depressive psychosis.
    • For epilepsy and schizophrenia. In origin, they are closer to neurological disorders, but directly affect the psyche, and therefore are studied in more detail in psychiatry. In the practice of Reduxin therapy, one case was recorded when it led to the development of psychosis in a patient with schizoaffective disorder.
    • With developed atherosclerosis. Signs of which include hypertension, coronary heart disease, stroke and myocardial infarction.
    • For pathologies of the heart and blood vessels. For heart defects, arrhythmia, varicose veins and deep vein thrombosis. “Reduxin” constricts blood vessels and can lead to heart rhythm disturbances, so taking it in the presence of blood clots can result in their blocking vessels of various diameters.
    • For glaucoma. Due to increased arterial and capillary pressure during treatment with sibutramine.
    • For prostate adenoma. And also for precancer, cancer, endometriosis, ovarian cysts and fibroids. The activation of blood circulation in such neoplasms provoked by the drug can activate their growth and malignancy (transformation into cancer).
    • During pregnancy. And breastfeeding. Losing weight when planning a pregnancy is, in general, a dubious idea. To conceive and successfully bear a child, a woman needs a stable estrogen background, and the accumulation and metabolism of female sex hormones occurs in the fat cells of the body. This means that before conceiving, it is wiser for a woman to gain a few extra pounds rather than lose them.

    "Reduxin" is also not recommended for children and adolescents, the elderly, especially those suffering from senile dementia or Alzheimer's disease. It is not suitable for the prevention of obesity or other diseases, and is strictly prohibited for use in cases of alcoholism and/or drug addiction. The simultaneous use of sibutramine with alcohol does not affect the dynamics of alcohol intoxication or hangover. But this incompatibility applies to all antidepressants, antipsychotics and drugs that regulate the functioning of the central nervous system.

    Sibutramine, like alcohol or drugs, with long-term use can cause depression, headaches, and suicidal thoughts. And the combined effect on the patient’s psyche of “Reduxin” and other neurotoxic substances can be fatal.

    Reduxin - what kind of drug?

    The combined drug Reduxin affects areas of the brain that affect feelings of satiety, hunger, triggers and accelerates the metabolic processes of breaking down fat deposits, and also helps normalize metabolism.

    In general, Reduxin promises the following:

    • Stability of weight loss;
    • Acceleration of metabolic metabolic processes;
    • Limited daily calorie intake;
    • No stretching or sagging skin;
    • Energy and vigor throughout the day;
    • Excellent tolerability of the drug;
    • No sudden weight changes;
    • Breakdown of fat deposits in problem areas of the abdomen and hips.

    How to choose an analogue

    A cheap analogue of Reduxin should be selected individually for each patient, taking into account the characteristics of the body and existing diseases. Doctors tend to prescribe medications only when a strict diet and necessary physical activity have failed to achieve a significant reduction in body weight.

    Each of the remedies has many contraindications and can cause unpleasant side effects. In this case, so that the patient can lose weight, the doctor selects another treatment method, including replacing the product with an analogue.

    Doctors' reviews of Reduxin Met and Reduxin

    Christina, endocrinologist, 36 years old, Moscow: “Reduxin and its combination with metformin are effective in weight loss. However, I prescribe these drugs only after a thorough examination and attempts to lose weight through diets and exercise. These substances have a strong effect on the body. Taking them without consulting a doctor may be hazardous to your health. Even a healthy person in the first weeks of use needs to monitor the evacuation function of the intestines, as well as blood pressure and heart rate.”

    Vlad, nutritionist, 28 years old, Voronezh: “I often come across patients’ desire to lose weight without effort and the desire to get results solely through pills. I always try to explain that this approach is wrong. Despite their effectiveness, drugs like Reduxin have many side effects. And most importantly, if you do not change your eating habits, then at the end of the course of treatment, all the lost kilograms will return again. This is a natural process, and not a consequence of the formation of drug dependence on the drug.”

    Price of Reduxin 15 mg

    The drug should be sold only in pharmacies. Even if the price of Reduxin 15 mg in some dubious online store of Chinese goods is too cheap, you should refuse this purchase, because for such a promotion you can “undermine” your health. How much does Reduxin cost in a pharmacy? Its cost is quite affordable: a plate of 30 capsules costs about 2,700 rubles on average. It is worth noting that the drug is available only with a doctor’s prescription, so if you decide that only pills will help you lose weight, be sure to visit a doctor.

    You can also order Reduxin online: in Moscow and St. Petersburg, delivery is carried out quickly and at a minimal cost. Here are the approximate prices of the original medicine and the drug Reduxin Light in different cities:

    Name Price in Moscow (for 30 capsules) Price in St. Petersburg (for 30 capsules)
    Reduxin 15 mg 2540-2999 rubles 2540-3850 rubles
    Reduxin Light 1154-1360 rubles 990-1390 rubles

    Characteristics of Reduxin Met

    This medication is a set of 2 drugs sold in one package. It includes the following elements:

    • tablets containing metformin hydrochloride in an amount of 850 mg as the active ingredient;
    • Reduxin capsules in 1 of 2 dosage options.

    Reduxin Met and Reduxin are drugs intended for weight loss.

    One cardboard pack may contain 20 tablets and 10 capsules or 60 tablets and 30 capsules.

    Metformin is a medicine from the biguanide group that can normalize blood glucose concentrations. Its main advantage is that its use does not provoke hypoglycemia and does not stimulate insulin production. This substance has the following effects on the body:

    • slows down the process of gluconeogenesis occurring in the liver;
    • prolongs the absorption time of carbohydrates;
    • activates glycogen production;
    • increases sensitivity to insulin by affecting peripheral receptors;
    • activates transmembrane glucose transport;
    • reduces the concentrations of triglycerides and cholesterol, including LDL.

    Reduxin Met is a set of 2 drugs sold in one package.

    It has been clinically shown that when treated with this drug, patients’ weight decreases at a moderate rate or remains stable, and weight gain does not occur. This substance is excreted by the kidneys, and therefore can accumulate in the body if their function is impaired.

    Tablets and capsules should be taken at the same time during breakfast, be sure to wash them down with plenty of liquid (at least 1 glass). The initial dose recommended by the manufacturer is 1 tablet and 1 capsule with a dosage of 10 mg.

    Subsequently, the amount of metformin can be increased by the attending physician to 2 tablets based on blood glucose tests. If during the first month of use a weight loss of at least 2 kg is not achieved, the patient is transferred to Reduxin capsules with a dosage of 15 mg.

    Treatment should be suspended if it is necessary to perform operations or contrast radiological or radioisotope studies with the introduction of an iodine-containing substance.

    When treated with Reduxin Met, patients' weight decreases at a moderate rate or remains stable, and weight gain does not occur.

    Analogs for Reduxin

    A whole series of foreign, well-known drugs, also made on the basis of the already known sibutromin. Most Popular:

    • Lindax;
    • Meridia;
    • Slimia.

    The question of which drug to choose, how much to drink and how often should only be decided with a doctor. Only a specialist evaluates the effectiveness and safety of drugs. Moreover, Reduxin is an official, high-quality product, not advertised “miracle” pills from the Internet, where the manufacturer is unclear and the pharmacological safety has not been identified.

    Tatyana, 18 years old

    I ordered weight loss capsules delivered from Moscow, because I ran around all the pharmacies in my city, but the prices for a package of 30 capsules here are much higher. I liked losing weight with Reduxin - I didn’t want to eat at all. In two weeks I managed to lose 3 extra kg because I combined the pills with sports, and it was much easier to diet with them.

    Inna, 25 years old

    Does Reduxin help you lose weight? As for me, yes, especially when there is an aversion to food, constant nausea and vomiting with only one type of food. It is possible that I came across a non-original Reduxin, because I bought it at a discount from a friend, and where she bought it remains a mystery to me. My advice is to eat in moderation and exercise.

    Tamilla, 17 years old

    A friend advised me to buy Reduxin diet pills. She ordered a package for herself by mail. I went to the pharmacy, but the pharmacist said to go to the doctor first. Since I weigh almost 100 kg, after passing all the tests, I received a prescription. I’ve been taking the capsules for the second month now, I’m on a diet and my weight has started to decrease. Yes, and I have no side effects.

    Reduxin: description and instructions

    Reduxin is the first domestic medical drug in the field of weight loss, which is officially registered and approved for use in the treatment of excess weight. The main active ingredient of the drug is sibutramine. This substance has a dual therapeutic effect:

    • Maintains a feeling of fullness for a long time, which leads to a decrease in appetite;
    • Increases the body's energy expenditure, thereby speeding up the weight loss process.

    The drug reduxin is an analogue of the popular German drug Meridia, their composition is almost the same, the only difference is the cost. According to reviews, the domestic drug is no worse than Meridia, but the price is 35% cheaper. How does Reduxin work, how to use it correctly and what results can you expect? Is there a difference between Reduxin and Reduxin light?

    How the drug works

    Reduxin is a centrally acting combination drug intended for the treatment of obesity.

    The pharmacological effect of this drug is provided by the active elements: microcrystalline cellulose and sibutramine.

    Sibutromin acts on areas of the brain responsible for achieving a feeling of fullness. This element stops the reuptake of serotonin at CNS synapses.

    The accumulation of serotonin makes it possible to enhance and prolong the feeling of fullness, this, in turn, helps to reduce the amount of food consumed, ensures weight loss and forms proper nutrition.

    In addition, the use of Reduxin increases the burning of fat reserves and normalizes metabolic processes. The drug creates a general healing effect, normalizing the amount of uric acid and cholesterol, reducing blood sugar levels.

    Microcrystalline cellulose, which is included in the preparation as the main component, is a powerful enterosorbent. This substance combines and removes from the body toxins, harmful substances, excess metabolites, allergens, waste products of various pathogenic organisms.

    Upon entry into the body, sibutromin is almost instantly absorbed from the stomach, distributed in cells and reaches its highest concentration in plasma after 1.5 hours. When taking the drug with food, the time to reach the highest concentration increases to 3.5 hours. The drug is excreted from the body due to the work of the kidneys.

    As studies note, the best positive results are achieved during long-term therapy with sibutramine. Subsequently, according to reviews, about 85% of people adhere to the optimal diet, which is formed during treatment with Reduxin.

    Composition and release forms

    The drug is prepared in the form of capsules for oral administration. Tablets can be of two types, the difference between them is only in the dosage.

    1. Reduxin 10 mg – blue gelatin tablets that contain white powder. One tablet contains 158.6 mg of cellulose and 10 mg of sibutromine hydrochloride.
    2. Reduxin 15 mg – blue gelatin tablets that contain white powder. One tablet contains 153.6 microcrystalline cellulose and 15 mg of sibutromine.

    Tablets of 10 pieces per pack are packed in cell contour blisters, which are placed in cardboard packs of 3-6 pieces.

    Reduxin's analogs

    In addition to Reduxin, there are a number of foreign, more expensive weight loss analogues based on sibutromine. The most popular analogues are:

    • Lindax;
    • Meridia;
    • Slimia.

    The issue of using a particular drug for weight loss must be decided together with your doctor; it is not advisable to buy the drugs yourself or replace Reduxin with analogues.

    In addition to Reduxin, as effective drugs for weight loss, there is also Reduxin Light and Reduxin Light enhanced formula. Let's look in more detail at the difference between these means.

    Reduxin or Reduxin Light?

    Reduxin Light is a dietary supplement!
    Most patients in the reviews say that Reduxin Light is the same as Reduxin, but has a lower dose. This is absolutely not true; the chemical composition of these products is completely different. At the same time, Reduxin is a medicinal product, the effect of which is provided by sibutramine, and Reduxin Light is considered a biological additive . The only thing that unites the drug data is the name. Reduxin Light can be purchased at a regular pharmacy without a prescription, but Reduxin cannot be purchased just like that, without a doctor’s prescription.

    Reduxin Light is more common among adherents of a healthy lifestyle who play sports. This drug allows you to pump fat deposits into muscles during active physical exercise and create a slender and toned silhouette. The tablets of this product contain vitamin E and linoleic acid. As is clear, this drug has nothing in common with the composition of regular Reduxin.

    Linoleic acid is a naturally occurring polyunsaturated fatty acid that has a positive effect on metabolic processes in the body and activates the work of enzymes that process fat. This makes it possible to control body weight, and with intense physical exercise, it strengthens muscle tissue and reduces the layer of subcutaneous fat.

    Reduxin Light enhanced formula creates the same effect, but in addition to linoleic acid it contains an extract from yam extract and its crushed root, as well as the element 5-hydroxytryptophan. The active substances of this product help reduce hunger, strengthen and grow muscle tissue, shape the figure and reduce fat mass during intense physical activity. That is, these drugs do not make it possible to lose weight without denying yourself anything and without getting up from your chair; they give results only when playing sports, active exercises and following a diet.

    Reduxin is also not a panacea; doctors also recommend combining its use with diet and increased physical activity. Here you need to understand the difference. Dietary supplements are better suited for athletes, their effect is aimed at increasing muscle mass and increasing protein synthesis, which allows you to model your figure, while the therapeutic effect of Reduxin is weight loss due to the correct formation of the diet.

    Indications for use of Reduxin

    The doctor prescribes Reduxin only in cases where, in a person who is obese, active sports and diet do not create the desired result. Reduxin is not used separately, but is prescribed in complex therapy, which is aimed at weight loss and in cases where a person is diagnosed with stage 2 obesity or there is a threat of progression of any diseases that are associated with excess weight.

    Instructions for use

    The instructions warn that to achieve the desired result, the drug must be used for at least three months, combining its use with moderate exercise and dietary nutrition. The dose of the drug should be individually prescribed by an endocrinologist.

    Reduxin is recommended to be used once a day, in the morning, on an empty stomach or simultaneously with meals. The tablet should be swallowed whole and washed down with plenty of water.

    At the initial stage, as a rule, a minimum dose of the drug is prescribed, which is then adjusted taking into account the effectiveness indicators.

    At the initial stage, as a rule, the recommended dose is 10 mg per day; if the drug is poorly tolerated, the dose can be reduced to 5 mg. Reduxin tablets are used for a month. If during this time it is not possible to lose weight by 5%, then the dose is increased to 15 mg per day.

    In patients who do not respond well to treatment and are slowly losing weight, the duration of treatment should be no more than three months . If, after the achieved effect, the weight returns to more than 3 kg, the treatment is completed. The total duration of the Reduxin course, regardless of the results, lasts no more than 2 years.

    Contraindications

    The drug has many contraindications, so independent use of the drug is not recommended. Reduxin is not used for the following conditions:

    • Time of pregnancy and lactation;
    • Sensitivity to the substances of the drug;
    • Age over 60 years;
    • Age up to 18 years;
    • Obesity that is caused by organic reasons;
    • Mental disorders;
    • Complex liver and kidney failure;
    • Chronic digestive tract disorders;
    • Arterial hypertension;
    • Thyrotoxicosis;
    • Diseases of the cardiovascular system (heart failure, ischemia, heart defects, tachycardia);
    • Prostatic hyperplasia;
    • Pheochromocytoma;
    • Circulatory disorders in the brain, damage to peripheral arteries;
    • Generalized tics;
    • Angle-closure glaucoma.

    Side effects

    As a rule, side effects of Reduxin are observed at the beginning of therapy. Reviews from doctors about Reduxin indicate that, in general, these symptoms weaken with treatment and have reversible and mild consequences.

    • From the gastrointestinal tract, nausea, constipation, and lack of appetite are observed. For constipation, it is recommended to use mild laxatives.
    • The cardiovascular system may respond to the use of the drug with palpitations, high blood pressure, and tachycardia.
    • On the part of the central nervous system, dry mouth, anxiety, changes in taste, insomnia, and dizziness are noted. Rarely observed: anxiety, irritability, drowsiness, lethargy, convulsions, depression, back pain.

    You need to understand that Reduxin is a completely unsafe drug, reviews of people losing weight about this drug are not always positive, some people complain about various side effects. Therefore, the course of treatment must be carried out under the supervision of a doctor.
