What is the difference between duspatalin and trimedat?

Neobutin

This medication regulates and tones the intestinal tract.
The main component of the drug, trimebutine, has a direct effect on the intestines, regulating its motility, restoring muscle activity and relieving abdominal pain. It is prescribed for:

  • Irritable bowel.
  • Intestinal obstruction after operations, etc.

Neobutin must be used under medical supervision due to the presence of some contraindications. Among them:

  1. Lactose deficiency or intolerance.
  2. Intestinal malabsorption.
  3. Childhood.
  4. Bearing and feeding a child.
  5. Allergic reactions.

The medicine can cause rash, dizziness, apathy, migraine, bowel dysfunction, urinary retention, swelling of the mammary glands, changes in the female cycle, depressive states, etc.

The therapeutic regimen consists of prescribing Neobutin for 4 weeks at a dosage of 600 mg per day, after which the dosage is halved and the medication is continued for about 12 more weeks.

The cost of the drug in a dosage of 100 mg for 10 tablets starts from 150 rubles.

The drugs belong to the same pharmacological group (myotropic antispasmodics).

Trimedat contains the active component trimebutine maleate, initially produced by a Korean company, and packaged and released in Russia in the form of tablets of 100 and 200 mg.

An analogue of Trimedat Neobutin contains the same substance, and it is produced in identical dosages by the Russian company Obolenskoye CJSC.

In our pharmacies you may also find Neobutin Retard, produced by SAMIL PHARM (Korea). The difference between regular and retard is:

  1. increased dosage to 300 mg,
  2. release form in the form of prolonged-release tablets.

Neobutin is a synonym for Trimedat, which also contains the active ingredient trimebutin. Produced by the domestic Obolensk pharmaceutical company in three forms:

  • tablets 100 mg for children over 3 years old;
  • 200 mg – over 12 years of age and adults;
  • enhanced forte formula with a dose of 300 mg.

Both drugs Trimedat or Neobutin have positive reviews from gastroenterologists. They are used for intestinal motility disorders and accompanying symptoms - constipation, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia.

The price of medicines varies. Analog Neobutin is up to 30% cheaper. Which drug to choose depends on financial capabilities and preferences. The advantage of Trimedat is an imported manufacturer, the availability of clinical studies, high-quality raw materials. It is difficult to determine what is more effective. Both medications have the same composition, indications and contraindications.

Niaspam or Duspatalin - which is better?

The main difference between the drugs is the country of production. If Duspatalin is produced in France using original patented technology, then Niaspam is produced in India and is its structural analogue. The difference in price is practically unnoticeable and amounts to about twenty percent.

Both products are available in the form of long-acting capsules. In this case, the composition is almost identical; certain differences are observed only in the list of additional ingredients. The main active ingredient is mebeverine hydrochloride.

  • The similarities do not end there; the drugs are used to relieve pain, as well as reduce the symptoms of dyspepsia.
  • Symptoms of overdose in both cases are rapid heartbeat and nervous overexcitation. To relieve them, it is usually enough to take sedatives and stop taking the medication.
  • According to the instructions, Niaspam and Duspatalin should not be taken in childhood, during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as well as in case of intolerance to the components.

The practice of using French medicine during pregnancy, lactation, and for children over the age of twelve is widespread. However, there is no reliable evidence of the safety of the drug in these periods, because clinical studies were not conducted for objective reasons. Accordingly, the decision to prescribe these drugs is made only by the attending physician, who then bears all responsibility.

The effectiveness of both medications is equivalent, but Nispam solves the problem of dyspepsia much better, and Duspatalin relieves pain. French capsules inhibit gallbladder motility and affect the sphincter of Oddi. And the Indian analogue is less active against the contractile function of the intestine, but does not block the process of bile secretion. It affects the entire digestive tract, while Dusptalin practically does not relieve spasms in the lower intestine.

What do they have in common?

Trimedat and Neobutin are myotropic antispasmodic drugs, the main component of which is trimebutine maleate. This substance has a relaxing and tonic effect at the same time.

Studies have shown that 90% of 100 patients who suffered from abdominal pain regained their health after taking the pills. The medications are not only highly effective, but also safe. Both drugs have minimal side effects.

Medicines are available in tablet form. The treatment regimen is prescribed by the attending doctor. Most often, a higher dosage of medication is prescribed at the beginning of treatment. After a few weeks, when pain symptoms are significantly reduced, the dosage is gradually reduced.

Medicines are produced in South Korea and Russia.

Reasons for selecting an analogue

There are situations when it may be necessary to replace Duspatalin.

  • the patient is not satisfied with the cost of Duspatalin;
  • the need to select a medicine with another active ingredient due to an allergic reaction to the components of Duspatalin;
  • the patient has contraindications or adverse reactions to the original drug.

In such cases, the doctor will be able to select a replacement. By analogue we mean not only an exact repetition of the Duspatalin formula. The effect of an alternative medicine may be similar. Hence, other dosages, release forms, and additional prescriptions. That is why the choice of drug should be entrusted to the doctor.

pharmachologic effect

Antispasmodic.

The main component is trimebutine in different dosages of 100 and 200 mg. The substance regulates intestinal motility with reduced or increased motor activity of the colon. As a result, the medication:

  • eliminates problems with bowel movements;
  • reduces colic and pain, has antispasmodic properties;
  • restores the physiological activity of the intestine;
  • treats gastrointestinal motility disorders.

When should medications be used?

Duspatalin is prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of pain caused by:

  • spasms of the digestive tract;
  • intestinal and biliary colic;
  • spastic colitis (irritable bowel syndrome);
  • pain caused by dysfunction of the abdominal organs (for example, pancreatitis).

Neobutin is used:

  • for the treatment of intestinal motility disorders;
  • for symptomatic treatment of pain and discomfort caused by spastic colitis;
  • in the event of postoperative intestinal obstruction.

If we compare Duspatalin and Neobutin, it becomes clear that Duspatalin is better used for pronounced pain syndrome caused by spasms, and Neobutin helps well with digestive disorders, manifested by alternating constipation and diarrhea, as well as with disturbances of peristaltic functions.

Comparisons and differences

What to do when your stomach hurts? Of course, consult a doctor for advice and examination. But first you need to get rid of the pain. Often, abdominal pain is eliminated with the help of antispasmodics. For example, “Duspatalin” or the cheap analogue of “Duspatalin” “Sparex” will help get rid of unpleasant cramping pain in the abdomen.

The basis of many medications that relieve spasms is the substance mebeverine. It was developed about 50 years ago, and, having undergone clinical trials, is actively used in medical practice as a myotropic antispasmodic.

The substance mebeverine dilates blood vessels and relieves smooth muscle tone by blocking certain ion channels in the cell membrane.

For example, what does the popular antispasmodic “Duspatalin” help with? For abdominal pain caused by muscle spasms.

The main difference between Trimedat and Neobutin is cost. The first product costs 15% more than its analogue.

The cost of Trimedat is higher because these tablets have fewer side effects and a wider range of applications. Studies have shown that this pharmaceutical remedy is more effective and fast-acting. Positive reviews from patients who took these tablets speak for themselves.

However, do not underestimate the effect of Neobutin. With prolonged use of the tablets, patients completely get rid of unpleasant sensations in the gastrointestinal tract, such as bloating, flatulence, pain, etc.

Prices for foreign and Russian analogues of Duspatalin

The price for Duspatalin starts from 470 rubles. for 30 capsules of prolonged action and 730 rub. – for 50 tablets. Prices for the list of analogue drugs, including domestically produced ones, are formed as follows:

  1. Trimedat – 470 rub.
  2. Niaspam – 420 rub.
  3. Sparex – 390 rub.
  4. No-Shpa – 70 rub.
  5. Drotaverine – 30 rub.
  6. Meteospasmil – 490 rub.
  7. Dicetel – 570 rub.
  8. Kolofort – 400 rub.
  9. Iberogast – 570 rub.

Price is not always an indicator of the best quality and effectiveness of a drug. Tolerability of the drug is individual for each patient and depends on a number of factors: age, degree of disease progression, and the presence of concomitant disorders.

Pharmacodynamics and pharmacokinetics

After penetration into the body, this substance activates the encephalinergic system of the intestines and stimulates peristalsis of the gastrointestinal tract. If there is insufficient tone, lek. the product has a stimulating effect, and with strong compression it relieves spasm. The substance affects all parts of the gastrointestinal tract, relaxes the esophageal sphincter, accelerates and stimulates the evacuation of feces by enhancing intestinal motility and enhancing the specific response of the muscles of the large intestine to food irritants.

After penetration into the stomach, the product is quickly and well absorbed by the body, bioavailability is about 6%. The maximum concentration of the substance is observed within 1-2 hours. Approximately 5% of the drug binds to plasma proteins. The medicine is eliminated fairly quickly, in the form of metabolites, using the kidneys. About 70% of the drug leaves the systemic circulation within 24 hours, the half-life is 12 hours.

The medicine crosses the hematoplacental barrier in small quantities. During clinical studies, no embryotoxic or teratogenic properties were identified.

Sparex or Duspatalin - which is better?

Sparex is a structural analogue of Duspatalin, since it contains the same active ingredient, namely mebeverine. However, it is additionally equipped with auxiliary substances. Available in the form of capsules for oral administration.

Indications for use are:

  • intestinal colic;
  • spasmodic pain in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • stomach upsets.

The product should not be used in case of high sensitivity to the components, during pregnancy, or before reaching the age of twelve.

Contraindications

The main indication for the use of Trimedat is gastrointestinal motility disorders in children and adults (from 3 years of age), after surgery, restoration of intestinal patency. The medicine eliminates pain, disturbances in stool frequency and consistency, vomiting and nausea. Trimedat is used to treat spastic pain and flatulence.

A prescription is not required to purchase the medication.

The substance is prescribed:

  • for the treatment of motor disorders due to indigestion, GERD, irritable bowel syndrome, gastroduodenal diseases;
  • in the postoperative period for paralytic intestinal obstruction;
  • in preparation for x-rays or endoscopy of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • children with dyspepsia caused by impaired motor skills.

The medicine should not be prescribed to patients with an allergy to Trimebutine or under the age of 3 years.

Also, the use of the drug is undesirable in the first 3 months of pregnancy or during lactation.

Characteristics of Duspatalin

Duspatalin is a medicine based on mebeverine. Manufactured by Abbott Healthcare Products. The average price is 560 rubles. The main form of release is oral capsules, which should be taken before meals. Due to the active component, the pharmacological effect is ensured:

  • elimination of spasms due to tension in the smooth muscles of the intestines;
  • normalization of peristalsis;
  • elimination of pain in the abdomen.

The drug slightly eliminates the spasm without causing constant hypotension. Therefore, there is no disturbance in stool formation. Absorption of the drug occurs quickly, bioavailability is high. The drug is metabolized and excreted through the kidneys. Indications for use:

  • pain due to intestinal spasms;
  • irritable bowel syndrome;
  • abdominal pain accompanied by systemic organic diseases.

Systemic side effects have been identified in the immune system. Anaphylactic shock, angioedema, and urticaria develop. More often, the reaction develops only locally in the form of a rash, itching, burning, and redness. After the drug is discontinued, they go away. The medicine is contraindicated for use in case of hypersensitivity to 1 of the components, pregnancy and lactation, and in persons under 18 years of age.

How does trimebutine work?

The motor-evacuation function of the gastrointestinal tract is regulated by 3 main factors:

  • myogenic (automatic stimulation of smooth muscle contraction when stretched),
  • neurogenic (nerve endings trigger contraction or relaxation of smooth muscles when acting on special receptors),
  • humoral (hormones that stimulate and inhibit motor skills).

In experimental studies, it was found that trimebutine has a dual effect on intestinal motility - relaxing and stimulating. Taking this substance suppresses contractile activity in the antrum of the stomach and duodenum, and, on the contrary, accelerates motility in the jejunum, ileum and colon.

This effect is due to the fact that this substance affects two levels of regulation at once - neurogenic and humoral. In addition, trimebutine modulates the secretion of gastric hormones:

  • motilina,
  • vasoactive intestinal peptide,
  • gastrin,
  • glucagon.

If we compare trimebutine with another popular antispasmodic mebeverine (drugs Duspatalin, Sparex), it turns out that only the first has such a complex effect. Considering that in IBS, alternating diarrhea and constipation is a common occurrence, it allows for a more physiological regulation of the motor-evacuation function of the gastrointestinal tract.

For normal digestion, it is important not only the movement of contents through the gastrointestinal tract, but also its processing by digestive substances. In this regard, trimebutine has another positive property: after eating, it accelerates the secretion of bile from the gallbladder.

People suffering from IBS often complain of abdominal pain. It turns out that such patients have a lower threshold of visceral sensitivity compared to healthy people, and they literally feel all the movements of their intestines. The advantage of trimebutine is that it reduces the perception of pain resulting from colorectal distension.

Duspatalin or No-shpa - which is better?

No-spa is rightfully considered the safest antispasmodic on the market today. Therefore, it is prescribed in situations where other drugs are contraindicated. The main active ingredient is drotaverine.

No-shpa is prescribed for:

  • spastic pain in the gastrointestinal tract;
  • cystitis, which causes frequent, unproductive urination;
  • other diseases of the genitourinary system;
  • constipation;
  • vascular spasms in the brain;
  • painful menstruation;
  • colic of any etiology.

Mebeverine and drotaverine, which are part of the drugs, are myotropic substances that eliminate spasms and dilate blood vessels. Both substances not only eliminate pain, but also directly affect the processes occurring inside cells. Therefore, they can be used in acute conditions, because they will not blur the clinical picture.

In addition to similarities, the products also have differences. Their mechanisms of action are radically different. If Duspatalin does not allow sodium ions to penetrate into cells, then No-spa affects the concentration of calcium inside the cells. Mebeverine has a relaxing effect aimed at the intestinal muscles, and drotaverine affects all smooth muscles in the body. At the same time, the French drug has a prolonged effect, which means it lasts longer.

What is the clinical effectiveness?

One trial involved patients with IBS, divided into two groups of 35 people. After taking 200 mg of trimebutine orally three times a day for 3 days, abdominal pain decreased in 27 patients, compared with only two in the placebo group.

Another study found that for a short course of treatment, a dosage of 200 mg was effective in relieving pain. There was no difference between 100 mg and placebo. However, with longer use (2 months) of 100 mg three times a day, 52 of 59 (88%) patients with IBS stopped complaining of pain, and in the placebo group - only 30 of 50 (60%).

In the treatment of IBS patients with moderate constipation, a good therapeutic result was found at a dose of 300 mg/day. After treatment for a month, stool frequency increased in 86% of patients.

For any drug, it is important to assess the possible risks and the presence of unwanted complications from taking it. Extensive clinical experience indicates the high safety of trimebutine-containing drugs, since the incidence of adverse reactions at a daily dose of 600 mg does not exceed 2%. Moreover, the same percentage is observed in groups of patients receiving placebo.

If the doctor has prescribed trimebutine-containing antispasmodic, then comparing prices will be useful. Since adults need to take 3 tablets of 200 mg per day to treat IBS, a course of treatment that lasts a month will require a total of 84 tablets or almost 3 packages of medication (30 pcs./pack). Such a package of Neobutin costs between 350 and 440 rubles, Trimedat is approximately 13–15% more expensive.

Contraindications to taking both are: pregnancy, age under three years, individual hypersensitivity. Do not take if you are lactose intolerant (included in the composition).

special instructions

Duspatalin interacts well with other drugs, therefore it is applicable in complex therapy. Due to indications of the possibility of dizziness, the drug is not recommended to be taken while working with increased attention, or when driving vehicles.

Drinking alcoholic beverages is strictly prohibited. Alcohol serves as an irritant and increases spasms and increases the tone of smooth muscles. Having the opposite effect, it reduces the effectiveness of Duspatalin to zero.

The drug is included in the pharmacological list in “List B”. This means that dispensing in pharmacies is allowed only with a prescription. At home, it is necessary to ensure storage at temperatures below 25 degrees. Suitability can be judged by the presence of a mark on the package. It is 3 years after manufacture.

Duspatalin is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age in any form. Adolescents under 18 years of age are allowed to use it with caution only in capsules. The drug is prohibited in the treatment of:

  • pregnant women,
  • persons with allergic reactions to mebeverine or other components.

Detailed studies added to the contraindications of fermentopathy in the form of intolerance to milk sugar, congenital deficiency of lactase, sucrase.

It should be emphasized that, in contrast to Duspatalin, antispasmodics of the anticholinergic group are prohibited for the following diseases:

  • colitis,
  • Crohn's disease,
  • bacterial intestinal lesions,
  • distension of the colon.

There are no such contraindications for mebeverine; this is its significant advantage.

Is it possible to have a joint appointment?

You can take Duspatalin at the same time as Trimedat . The active components included in the medications interact well with each other. This achieves:

  • quick relief of spasms and pain relief;
  • improvement of digestive function;
  • relief from dyspeptic disorders.

The regimen for taking Duspatalin together with Trimedat is selected individually, taking into account the violations that have arisen - it is not recommended to combine medications on your own. Both Trimedat and Duspatalin cause adverse reactions and the risk of developing unwanted effects increases with uncontrolled use of medications.

In addition, it is not always necessary to take two medications . Trimedat, like Duspatalin, does not cure, but only eliminates the uncomfortable symptoms that arise from the disease. To cure a disease, it is often necessary not to combine antispasmodics, but to select antibiotics or other anti-inflammatory drugs.
